Too Good to be True

One of the tricky things about dating is figuring out who is authentic and who is not. It’s hard not to become a cynic after meeting the phonies and the crazies. When we actually the meet the totally normal, completely sane individual, we aren’t always prepared!

Have you ever met someone that seems like the ideal match for you? You are attracted to them and vice versa, you have wonderful chemistry together, and they even seem to have everything you’ve been looking for. Then doubt creeps in. The uninvited thing that makes you question if the person is too good to be true.

Why do you think we do this so often? Is there really such a thing as too good to be true? I have even been in a situation where I started to expect “the other shoe to drop” so to speak.  You know when you start looking for signs that the person isn’t as great as they seem? Most of the time, it’s not the other person that has the issue, it’s you! (ok, it’s me as well but I’m not alone, right?)

What is a good way to combat the cynicism in dating and relationships? Has anyone ever told you that you were too good to be true?

Happy Friday!

lol @ Lee press on toe nails. Tazzee they have some cheap press ons like at the 99cent Store. do they have that out here? i guess it’s called dollar general or dollar family or something like that. anyway, i saw some at the 99cent store back home and they even had the ones with designs and french manicure. i have real nails, but they have an acrylic overlay on top.

Page – Family Dollar and Dollar General are not “dollar” stores, even though they have dollar in their names. They are like a cheaper Big Lots/cheap drug store without a pharmacy.

Dollar Tree compares with the 99cent stores.

Okkkkkkkkkkkkk lmaooooooooooooo omg kimmie what! family dollar and dollar general are not dollar stores? omg ok wow. see, that’s another one of those “how would i have known that” moments. lmao.

Notes to self:

Family Dollar and Dollar General are not “dollar” stores (even though the word dollar is in the name)

Taco Mac is not a mexican restaraunt (even though the word taco is a mexican food and in the name)

With all of the streets named “peachtree”, i have yet to actually see a real peach tree since i moved here.

lmao.

@Kimmie… it’s so funny you would break it down like that. Just this weekend my sister adamantly corrected me for calling her precious Dollar Tree a Dollar General. “They are NOT the same!”.

@Page … just put your robe on backward and put that $20 in your savings account :O

Fan- LOL @ backwards robe? is that all it is? lmao omg i didn’t know. so this dude is a millionaire for “inventing” a backwards robe and calling it a snuggie? that’s almost as bad as that shower cap that was “invented” to cover up food and stuff in a bowl in the refrigerator. i’m like what, that’s not “new”! that’s just a shower cap for food. smdh.

Since we are talking dogs…

One thing I know about dogs, because my sons have had two, what you allow a dog to do it will do. Our last dog we had came from an environment that treated it like a child. It was allowed on the bed, it was allowed on the furniture, it was allowed to eat off of a plate from the table, and it was trained to a doggy pad that was kept in the house. I didn’t have the time and patience to retrain the dog so I eventually got rid of it. I gave it to a coworker that allowed such behavior from a dog.

We were talking about the dog one day and she told me she had to get a cage for it because when she had company the dog would jump the furniture or the people, the dog would jump on the bed while her company slept in her guest room. The dog would play around the feet of people while they tried to eat their meal wanting them to throw something down to it.

The thing with allowing such bad habits is they will eventually be played out when it’s not convenient for you and others around. And the next owner will have to deal with such.

We take into the next relationship the things we were taught and allowed to do without reprimand.

You wanna know why Tonie treats you like that? Because somebody has been letting them to get away with it.

Page – It’s a trip. Everyone like to joke about all the streets named Peachtree, and act like it’s so confusing, but there are only about 4 that are widely traveled – the others are just side streets! Peachtree Street changes into Peachtree Road & vice-versa. Then you have W Peachtree & Peachtree Industrial. LOL!

I asked my Miami friend that likes to pick on things like this even though she’s been here over 10 years – have all the peachtree streets really hemmed you up in Gwinnett? Furthermore, how many streets in Florida are named Orange, Lemon, Lime or some kind of citrus fruit? She was at a loss for words, LOL!

One of my church members loves to sew and made me & my mom a snuggie about 15 years ago. She should have marketed that, she could be rich! I love mine!

Oh are not talking about dogs anymore, sorry.

False Nails? I don’t know Tazzee I keep mine short.

Dollar Tree? Family Dollar? Dollar General? It’s alright. You can find something worth buying in there sometimes. It’s about all 20% brand name and 80% off brand. I prefer Big Lots myself.

The Snuggies? I said Imma get one for this winter. I can wear panties and tank under it and still keep warm. And yes it does look like a robe on backwards. Or a blanket with sleeves.

Dream_n how you raise yourself is how you will be. If no one ever calls you on it or make you feel the error of you ways that is how you will be. You take it from one relationship to the other if you allowed to get away with it in each.

This is not to looked at as all bad. The good things and training that we pick up along the way we also carry with us. Our English bulldog was trained very well and house broken. We went out of town we could leave him with anybody and know that he was not going to mess all over their house (unless they failed to take him out) or jump on the furniture. We had him for many years and although he stayed outside the majority of the time he was trained as a little puppy to be able to stay in the house and ACK RITE.

dream_n- hey wait a minute. i do use chica because thats spanish for girl. that is a legitimate word (although not in the english language lol), but it’s still legitimate. i loathe the word swagga so really i was being sarcastic. for some reason me using slang words i guess with my voice and accent doesn’t come off the same. lol. oh well.
