Bad Habits

All of us has quirky little things about us that are part of who we are. For the most part, they are pretty harmless and aren’t such a big deal. However, I believe some of us have some bad habits that may actually run potential partners away. How honest are we about them, though?

I’m quick to say that I love me and if another person can’t recognize all my wonderful goodness (flaws and all) then forget about them! Every now and then, though I have had to stop and think to myself. Is this yet another reason why I’m still single?

What are you bad habits that need to be dropped? I had one that I had no choice but to drop: dating men who had no clue how to be supportive or meet my needs emotionally. They were my bad habit! They were great on paper, ambitious and driven, yada yada. When it came to checking on me and caring about what I thought or felt, I was invisibile. That’s not a good feeling: Being in a couple and feeling alone.

Do you have a bad habit you are drawn to? Maybe there is something about your behavior that is turning people off? Do you have a bad habit of talking down about love and romance? Are you constantly negative about the opposite sex and have a bad habit of complaining about them to everyone you meet?

If we were to take a real honest assessment of some of our bad habits, what do you think we could find to improve? How can we drop them like a…well bad habit!

I don’t know Diva, you are saying that your bad habit is based on what someone else does(or does not do) I challenge you to tell us a real bad habit that is squarely all yours, not related to the people you choose to date or any other person… I’m just saying.

My primary bad dating habit is that sometimes I forget that the person I am just starting to date does not know me well… meaning I tend to treat them just like I treat all my good friends, and sometimes this causes confusion since the new person does not understand the meaning behind some things I say or do.

EPO- LOL I hate that question. I was always told to say that your biggest weakness is something like “I’m a workaholic” or “I’m a perfectionist” or something like that, which can sometimes be a good thing for a potential employer.

Good morning, I have a few bad habits:

Jumping to conclusion before finding out the facts.

Hot temper-this is more an attitude adjustment.

Good Morning!

My bad habit is that I am attracted to Professional Bad Boys………..the ones with “BIG EGOS” like WD said they are either emotionally unattached or so professionally consumed that I sometimes don’t get the attention that I deserve……….

My young but perceptive niece said to me recently – “Auntie, you should date a total lame”, maybe there is some wisdom there……….lol

Good morning,, Guys. I remember one of my old old bad habits.. Which was being to honest, better yet not being able to express or articulate myself to where I didn’t offend someone…

Mrs. Mason...He put a ring on it.

Good Morning.

One of my main bad habits was not giving a guy a fighting chance. As far as I was concerned every man that stepped to me had a wife at home or a committed girlfriend somewhere. I would date guys yet still remain very aloof because I knew I would eventually hear of the wife or girlfriend that he has. And I would look and listen for clues to prove it. I eventually got over that hill. Eventually.

However the one thing that I did not get over or rather the bad habit that I still have now that was part of my problem back then is I overanalyze things. My husband and I will be talking and he will say thing and not get a quick response from me. That’s because I am thinking too much into what he said or the situation that he is talking about. He’ll tell me sometimes “I can hear the wheels turning in your head. Stop over thinking things”. It’s a really bad habit that I have.

Sometimes my body language and/or expression give me away. If he says something that I don’t like without realizing it I will kinda turn my body away from him. Or my eyes will squint just a little. I didn’t realize I did this until he pointed out to me one day and my BFF confirmed it.

WISEY A quick rant ~That Maxwell’s Bad Habit is sumthin. I do wonder why I’m approached to be one of those if you’ve seen the video. All men can’t possibly be cheaters so what is that selection process like – target whomever seems like she’d be down, seems like she has low self esteem, won’t tell, a combo? I find it 1/3 Insulting, 1/3 Confusing and 1/3 Comical. Cheaters, speak out.

I’m a recovering Criteria Compromiser. I used to be real compromising about who gets his foot in the door. Don’t judge initial impressions or questionable trains of thought iup front. Then I was reminding myself to be more lenient about a year & a half ago and I was like… But seriously, why? Time is all too precious and we ain’t promised tomorrow. I’ll save most of my Compromising Capabilities for once I’m on the inside of a relationship, stank you very much.

I think my bad habit is not going into every situation with a fresh perspective and attitude of optimisim. I do kinda talk down to the idea of relationships based on the past and not really giving them a chance in my mind immediately. I dont go into a situation negatively but I have a guilty until proven innocent or prove it to me mentality. That’s my bad habit and I need to work on it, whats yours?

men who had no clue how to be supportive or meet my needs emotionally

When it comes to the must haves in my relationship being supportive and accommodating to my emotional needs is very, very important. I don’t ask my s/o to understand my emotional needs I just ask that he understand that I have them and I need him to be supportive. Allow me the space to express me when I need to.

When it came to checking on me and caring about what I thought or felt, I was invisible. That’s not a good feeling: Being in a couple and feeling alone.

Another biggie. A relationship is a partnership. The opinions and thoughts of both parties matter equally. We don’t have to agree on everything but we both have an equal say. No one person makes the decisions for all.

I’m pretty laid back and low-key, but I am also cautious about my heart. I’m told that I comes across as nonchalant and lacking passion.

I’m not a patient person. I want what I want when I want it.

I move to my own beat. I will not be rushed by anyone else’s agenda. So, I guess I don’t compromise well sometimes – especially if I’m not eagerly motivated.

I have “Don’t ask, Don’t tell.” tendencies. (And I’m okay with that.) Although, I’ve been told it comes across as sneaky which is very interesting because I happen to think I’m rather open.

I’d rather walk away than confront – especially if I have not become involved past a certain point.

I’m quick to retreat emotionally at the first sign of bvllsht – often with no warning. Physical retreat follows soon after.

For the record, I don’t plan on changing any of the above habits. I am quite comfortable with them.

I never understood the one-sided relationship,, Are there not signs that this person doesn’t care about your feelings and they seem cold to your emotions? And if your feeling that way, why not talk about it, instead of taking the “Im going to see how he reacts to what im going through approach”.. He should be able to read my mind and act accordingly ect..

Mr. Unknown, One part of that is often a symptom of prolongedsinglelitis. I too had a touch of it at one time but I have always been a person that believed in the union. So it was not that hard to overcome. I still have to remind myself occasionally that I don’t have to carry the load alone, coming from being in a place where I had to do it all myself consulting with no one to having an active partner.

But some folks just can’t shake it and some are just selfish and uncaring of their partners concerns and/or wishes.

Everybody is not cut out to be part of couple. Instead of being a piece within the puzzle they are a block. And block-headed.

What yall are talking about are not habits. Habits are things you repeat on a mostly subconscious level. If you’re fairly deliberate about it, it’s a choice, not a habit.

For instance, saying ‘yada yada’ can be a habit. ‘Yada’ is an ancient Hebrew word referring to platonic relationships and relationship activities.

For me, being from San Diego, I am always wearing open-toed and definitely flip flops. Maybe flip flops are my bad habit? I mean, when you grow up on the beach, what else is there to wear?! I have a low tolerance for BS so I will completely shut down on a guy in a minute. I’ve been accused of being “dismissive” but I disagree. I just like what I like and everything isn’t as deep as people try to make them be.

My body language and facial expressions definitely tell off on me. You know how I feel even if I never mumble one word. I’m pretty cool (so I think) but if you cross me, my words can be somewhat lethal. I guess it’s that whole Gemini thing (NiceNasty)…lol I’m working on that. To bring your thoughts to life, put them into words. To bring your words to life, put them into action. To bring your actions to life, make them into habits. What you make into a habit becomes a part of who you are.

A negative, destructive habit can hold you back as surely as a steel chain around your ankle. A positive, productive habit can enable you to soar to heights that would otherwise be unreachable.

I cross my legs all the time

So do I but although it’s a habit it’s not bad. I have more than a few men tell me how sexy it is or rather how sexy I look with me legs crossed like I do. I tend to kinda move my foot and/or let my shoe dangle (heels mostly) when I cross my legs.

I sit with chin in hand contemplating something

When I am thinking or contemplating I normally trace my lips with tip of my sunglasses or a pen. Sometimes I put the tip of my glasses between my lips. And this BTW is usually done in conjunction with the crossing of the legs. (That habit is the one my husband find to be the sexiest)

I watch tv holding my right breast (don’t know why).

First of all, LOL. But my tv habit is rubbing my lips with my finger.

When it comes to voicemails I don’t mind leaving or answering them. But the one thing that I truly truly hate is when the marido continues to call but will not leave a message. He will let the phone ring until it goes to voicemail and then hang up and call back again. He will do this like 5 times in a row trying to get in touch with me. I will look at my phone and there will be 5 voice mails waiting. And they all will be empty. I’ve learned to view my missed called before bothering to check my voicemails. If the missed calls are Mason 3:23, Mason 3:23, Mason 3:23, Mason 3:34, Mason 3:25, I know the voicemail alerts are all him calling.

Hello All,

In the years I was married, my ex (to the best of my knowledge) never once said “I’m sorry”. She would say “I’m sorry, but…” and proceed to tell me why it was really my fault she did the bad. I am getting that same impression here a little. I expected something more like Leggs said in her list.

Where are things like:

I scratch my ballz in public sometimes
I don’t always floss.
I say I have a headache when I really just want an easy out.
I leave my toenail clippings on the floor.
I put the toilet roll on backwards and don’t put the seat down.

What I am saying is that this should illustrate teh things that WE fugg up, not what we perceive the other person CAUSES us to do.

After every single relationship I’ve ended or was kicked to the curb, I did not waste my time trying to figure out what was wrong with the other person…I analyzed what I could have done different.

One thing I did not do was try to understand why I chose so and so. Poor choices are poor choices, not bad habits. Instead, I tried to determine what I was projecting that either brought the types I was not looking for, or what I screwed up with the ones that were what I was looking for. My $.02.

Morning folks!

My bad habits:

– cracking my knuckles
– facial expressions
– correcting grammar
– eating off of others’ plates
– clicking or tapping my ink pen when I’m in deep thought

That’s all I can think of for now. As far as my ‘flaws’ that can negatively affect dating – that would be my impatience and selfishness.

If I leave someone a message and they call back without listening to it – I’ll tell them to listen to the message and call me back if I’m in a mood. Also if I’m in that mood – I don’t call folks back that don’t leave messages. I’m in ‘that’ mood about 50% of the time.

Oh another bad habit – starting something and not finishing (I started this post about an hour ago when it was still morning…)

Bad Habits???

I eat out of the Ice Cream box. I used to hate when my husband would drink out of the juice bottles and there were other people in the house besides he and I, but then one day I realized that my bad habit was eating from the ice cream container and putting it back in the freezer.

I flip people the bird when they cut me off in traffic.

I’ll taste a grape or cherry before I buy a full bag at the grocers.

I’ll put something in the wrong place at the grocers instead of taking it back to the aisle I got it from.

If the chicken doesn’t look too fresh at the market I will poke a hole in the plastic so I can smell it.

I finally was able to reach him asked how it the beep beep beep did he capture my voice for his greeting and what the beep beep beep was he thinking, he gave me some lame technical story of how he did it, and how he liked my greeting blah blah….I told him to erase my voice and never call me again creep.

I can’t stand for someone to ask me to let them taste something or even to put their fork over in my plate. If you want to taste what’s on my plate I will slide a piece off onto yours.

A lady here at work made me a cupcake size cheesecake for my b-day one year and this guy that works here also loves cheesecake just as much as I do. We were sitting around the conference table eating lunch and he comes toward my cheesecake with his fork asking me if he could taste a piece. I nearly stabbed him in the back of the hand with my fork. I told him I would give him a piece onto a napkin. He asked me why I had a problem with him taking a piece with his fork because it’s not like he was asking to use my fork. I asked him “was that your tongue in my mouth last night? NO, then that’s why. Don’t put your fork on anything in my plate if these lips have never touched yours.”

Needless to say I ate my whole cheesecake by myself. LOL

More Bad Habits…

I am an emotional shopper. I will go shopping when I am angry and then take it all or most of it back when I have calmed down and come to my senses. I learned the hard to way to be careful at those “No return on sale items” stores. I own a few things that I could really do without.

I tear the cards out of magazines while at looking at them at the doctor’s office or other people’s house.

I through food out the car windows. No paper, cans or cups but food. Anything biodegradable.

I change the radio station in other people’s car.

I sometimes wait until day 29 to pick up the clothes at the cleaners.

” Ihave a habit (don’t know if its bad or not”, but if I go into someones washroom. I look in their medicine cabinet.” I have actually read that this is very common. I am curious since I do not, what is one looking for? I did notice a medicne bottle prescription for whatever that drug is for herpes once…turned out, after I got the wrong impression, that it is also prescibed for simple cold sores in the winter. I thought the lady had been “stepping out” with someone who had it. You know what they say about the word “assume”. That was me.

My son will be with his father this weekend until Tuesday and Mason’s good-mother asked to keep the baby for the weekend to give us a break to spend some quality time together.

Heck I just may try your “stay in bed” bad habit. Maybe I can get Mason to go fishing or something with his brother and I can spend this 3 day weekend laying around the house in my panties and maybe a tank eating nothing Honey Nut Cheerios and ice cream.

Speaking of moisturizing,

One day a couple of ladies here all went out to lunch together and the topic of beauty regimens came up and I was surprised to hear how many women just don’t have one. One of the ladies was fairly young and raised by her father so she no woman in her upbringing to teach her about moisturizing and all that so some of us gave her some tips and suggestions on how to take care of her skin and complexion. But some of these older women 30+ are on a lotion only when and where as needed bases. Meaning only those areas that show when going out in public. Their skin must feel like sandpaper.

My grandmother was really big on moisturizing and keeping a nice clear complexion. She used baking soda to clean her face. You talk about a beautiful complexion? She had it.

Melo Yep. I know my husband goes to work everyday with a little hint of me on him because my layering process leaves our entire room and bathroom smelling like the fragrance I use every morning. Especially when it gets caught in the steam from the shower.

I bathe with regular Lever first, then I bathe a second time with the shower gel that goes along with the scent I wear. It’s not real harsh but leaves a light hint of the fragrance on my skin. After that I apply the body lotion of the same scent in the summer and in the winter I use the body cream. The cream is a lot thicker so I only use it in the colder months. I may spritz just a little with perfume itself but that just depends.

BAD HABITS : PHUCKKING ANIMALS!

THE provincial governor of Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province said “an adult human being was responsible” after a goat gave birth to a “human-like creature” on Sunday.

Governor Jason Machaya led a delegation of police officers and journalists to the Maboleni area in Lower Gweru, under Chief Sogwala, to see the “creature” which died within hours.

“The head belongs to a man while the body is that of a goat,” Governor Machaya told the Chronicle newspaper.

Machaya said he believed a local man had “lost self control” and had sex with the goat.

“This incident is very shocking. It is my first time to see such an evil thing,” the governor said. “It is really embarrassing. It’s self-evident that an adult human being was responsible. Evil powers caused this person to lose self control.”

The Chronicle said “the creature had a human head, face, nose, shoulders and human-like skin that had very scanty furs. It had goat features from the ‘shoulders’ to the legs.”

Its “sagging stomach”, the paper said, “prevented curious villagers from determining whether it had human or animal sex organs as it protruded covering the front part.”

“Villagers said the end product was so scary that even dogs were afraid to move close to the goat,” the paper’s Midlands correspondent wrote after a trip to Maboleni with the governor.

A villager, Themba Moyo, said the “creature” was “a miracle that has never been witnessed anywhere”.

The goat’s owner, a Mr Nyoni, said he called the police and village elders after his shock find.

Nyoni has 15 goats and says the animal that gave birth to the bizarre creature “is the mother of most of my herd”.

“It’s the first time that my goat has done this. My goats often give birth to sets of twins,” he added.

Chief Sogwala has summoned villagers to a meeting, and fears the incident is a “bad omen”.

The chief advised Nyoni to seek the help of a sangoma “in search of answers to this bizarre incident”.

Govenor Machaya said it was a “disgrace that a man can stoop so low opting for animal company in a world full of women.”

He added: “We often hear cases of human beings who commit bestiality but this is the first time for such an act to produce a product with human features.”
The governor said he would lead a campaign for harsh sentences for people who abuse animals.

——————————————————————————–
Advertisement
——————————————————————————–

He added: “Our people should be taught that such acts are bad, they are evil. God created men differently from animals. As men, we have women who really love us. They even outnumber us by more than 52 percent I think.

“It is my prayer that whoever did this should be punished severely, if caught, so that we discourage others who may think of committing similar crimes.”

I got my butt beat real bad once over some cod liver oil. Mrs. Howard, sweetest woman in the world. My mom would drop us off every morning and we’d go to school from Mrs. Howard’ house. Mrs. H cooked complete breakfasts every morning, made home made cinnamon bread with nuts and raisin (house smelled like a dream), etc. My mistake… I refused/couldn’t take the cod liver oil that morning… we went round and round (you know how little kids do, running!) that morning. I left for school with a promise she made me, if I didn’t take it when I got in that afternoon she was going to beat me, end of story. :) )) RIP Mrs. Howard (I was in elementary then, I’m 46 now).

My grandma used to make us take take cod liver oil every morning before school. These days, I take the pills at night (when I remember).

Castor oil. Liniment. Skin So Soft. 666. Fletcher’s Castoria. Baby oil after every bath. Vaseline on your feet. Jergens Lotion ONLY.

All of those things and more were a part of my upbringing. And some of it still is.

LOL Grace I was giving Tazzee and Ms. Main a hard time one day about that. I don’t use a washcloth on my face I use a face cleansing cloth so I was trying to get them to explain why they used a different washcloth. As if the dirt from their face would soil their behind. LOL

My husband uses one wash cloth per bathing. He washes his face then washes his body and then takes the washcloth and towel in the laundry to be washed. I take that back. He rolls the washcloth and towel into a tight bundle and leaves it on the floor or counter for me to take down to the laundry. LOL

Seriously though unless you are using the same washcloth more than one day, which you should not, I don’t see anything bad about washing your face and then your body with the same cloth. The cloth gets washed in the washer before using it again to wash your face first.

See, I wld do all that for my man BUT I am not with ironing sheets! Catering to my man/husband is not a problem but catering to my bed is not in my cards :)

LOL Lioness it’s easy. I fold the sheets as I iron them. I usually leave the linen for Saturdays. It takes a minute to iron 4 days worth of sheets. That includes the sheets from my son’s bed. I change his twice a week.

You know WiseDiva some of these good and quirky habits can also be enough to drive and uninspired partner away.

The first time my husband so me bathing he asked “what in the heck are you doing?” LOL I bath in little scrubbing circles until I cover my whole body. I use a brush for my back but when Mason washes my back I tell him to do it in small circles until he covers the entire area, from shoulders to buttocks.

Thanks, Raqi. Ok, good habits? let me think.

Someone said something about bugs….last night around 12 i woke up screaming because i felt something crawling on me. It was on the back of my neck, so I felt it and just grabbed it and threw it! i got up and ripped all of my sheets off and it was on the floor. it was a pincher bug! i don’t know if that’s what you all call it out here, but it was one of those! ughh.

Last week when I was in Phoenix, there was a scorpion on the floor in my condo.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Enjoy the holiday. Be careful and BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU!
