The Ugly Truth

I watched the film The Ugly Truth in mild amusement, like I do most films about male-female dynamics. While the movie is meant to be entertaining, it kind of highlights a lot of what goes on with gender biases and social perceptions of men and women.

The male lead character basically describes men as the simple creatures who will do and say whatever it takes to bed a woman. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but it’s a romantic comedy.

It did make me look further into the notion that men and women can both be ethically ambiguous. I read somewhere that that socialists consider a component of “ambivalent sexism” in the theory of benevolent sexism: “Women compared to men, tend to have a superior moral sensibility”. They actually conducted studies and claim that “women have a superior moral and ethical fortitude as compared to men”. I don’t know about that one!

It lends itself to male vs. female battle but we already know we are different. What are your thoughts? Should we really give credibility to these kind of studies?

ARed- When I first met you at the time I was looking closer to you and to TPS. Where I am now is only like 15 mins away so I am still good

Page – I’m not too savvy once I’m OTP. But I’m glad you got yourself into a good spot. It sounds like you are closer to Old National than Camp Creek though. I was just trying to get a frame of reference. The only time I’m ever near Old National is when I go visit my friend who lives in Union City. Other than that, I don’t have any needs past the airport!

The only thing that i can really see needing and having to get OTP is a car. I think that most car dealers are outside of the perimeter. (Some are really close to it, though.)

LOL ARed. Girl, I get lost everywhere I go. I can’t live too far out in the boonie with wild animals and snakes, etc. The most I have seen is a bunny rabbit in my back yard. It was soooo cute! I *heart* bunny rabbits*. Oh and I had a turtle in my back yard too. lol

PG – Very true. When I was researching cars, all of the dealers were in places like Jonesboro or Stockbridge…places I needed to look up on my map.

I am in several weddings over the next couple months and the only David’s Bridals are OTP – Morrow and Kennesaw and the likes.

And I can only get Cracker Barrel OTP.

Oh my bad, didn’t know. I really don’t go to Union City that much anymore. However, I remember Ga. Highway 138 having a lot of dealers. I just remember my parents getting their car from a Hank Aaron dealership in Union City. That was a couple of years ago.

I guess that it was a matter of time, though. I find Shannon Mall useless unless you are looking for a cellphone. Is it still open? If people aren’t coming to the area what is the point for the car dealers. I thought that the car dealers were still open, though.

Car dealers have to have land to place the cars. ITP land is expensive.

LMAO, Lurking – where were YOU? This time of year, personal hygiene presents special challenges to some folks.

My bff had a party downtown a couple of weeks ago and this really cute “model chick”, drunk as hell, partying her @ss off was just ripe.

Took me a minute to figure out who dahell it was…You know that momentary “WTF? Is that me?” moment. I was like, “How does she not smell THAT?”

I almost wished I could have told her, but I didn’t know her like that. Now, she will forever be known as ‘that stankin @ss chick at the party’.

Not a good look.

1. Woman more moral than men

2. Religious vs Spirituality

3. Sex in order to get to God (Imma history channel head too I like TLC too)

4. Traffic on Old Nat’el

5. OTP vs ITP

6. Car lots and the side of town they reside on

7. Bankhead and spaceships

Got it!
