Spotted on Twitter: “Blackberries, iPhones and Twitter killed the dating world. R.I.P.” This statement coming from The Fly Guy himself, made me think, “How do we even manage to hook up in person anymore?!” I know a lot of us are way into technology and social networking, but is it becoming harder for you to strike a balance with old school dating?

You know, calling a person up, asking them out, going to pick them up, and enjoying the company with quality face to face time. Yeah, that’s old school dating! Today, we send evites, tweets, Facebook messages to set things up with friends and dates.

The younger guy (I still need a name for him) I am seeing is all about the text. It got to the point where I had to tell him what I was comfortable with on text, and what actually required a phone call.

We have so many ways to showcase our personalities these days: Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, text messaging, instant messaging, or email. Whew, that’s a lot of typing at each other. How can you determine if a person is actually interested in you when they are using “text”, which doesn’t exactly scream big effort?

Are you seeing someone who spends more of their time typing at you then seeing you in person? Do you think that is genuine interest or boredom?

Guys, you aren’t really big on phones and chatting, do you prefer the texting to communicate because it is a compromise for you?

The other reason that we picked Starfish was that they have printable coupon on Retailmenot.com.

That’s my boy! It’s good to have you in the family.

You know I love a good deal, especially on food!

If you are on a date, you might not be concerned with coupons though.

However, the wife and I date on coupon all of the time. We’ve gotten our moneys worth from our Entertainment book.

PG – Not on the first few ones. But after the comfort level is there and the relationship progresses, most definitely. Saving him money is saving US money.

And you know what cracks me up Poppa is the folks that feign like they are too good and uppity to use coupons yet frequent the same restaurant as us coupon junkies do. Hell they print coupons for the establishment because they want you to use them there. Why be embarrassed?

@Cee, conch is very, very good!

Those 30 min meals in AJC meals on a budget are, most times, on the mark. There’s a Mexican restaurant in the plaza where The Velvet Room is. It’s pretty good.

Yep. the Entertainment book has deals with many restaraunts. We use the 2 for the price of 1 to Imperial Fez. That alone pays for the book. McKinnon’s Louisiana Restaraunt in Buckhead has a deal with them. There are others. They are deal where you don’t have to use a coupon to get the deal.

Not to mention that Regal Cinemas has a coupons that save us quite a bit on the box office price. Two weeks after release of a movie, you can get ticket for said movie of 8 bucks at night.

It has coupons for Kroger and Publix too. For example, $5 off your grocery bill that totals over $20. 10 off groceries totally $50. That is what Kroger has in there.

We use it for groceries, dry cleaning, car rentals, bowling, etc. There is way more than just restaraunts.

They list for $25 but some places sell them for $20. We get one sent to us every year for $20. We get ours from their site.

Kroger add the Entertainment book coupons to the ones that we cut out of the paper. We have literally gotten some things for nothing.
DeKalb Farmers Market is kinda a specialty place so I doubt that they will be in there. I don’t remember seeing them in there.

I still tip the servers well. Sometimes as if there were no coupon. During Restaraunt Week, I have given some very good tips. Morton’s server got a $25.00 tip from us.

Morton’s had a second restaraunt menu special that wasn’t online. Surf and turf for two at $99.99. Steak and Lobster for two great.
