Spotted on Twitter: “Blackberries, iPhones and Twitter killed the dating world. R.I.P.” This statement coming from The Fly Guy himself, made me think, “How do we even manage to hook up in person anymore?!” I know a lot of us are way into technology and social networking, but is it becoming harder for you to strike a balance with old school dating?

You know, calling a person up, asking them out, going to pick them up, and enjoying the company with quality face to face time. Yeah, that’s old school dating! Today, we send evites, tweets, Facebook messages to set things up with friends and dates.

The younger guy (I still need a name for him) I am seeing is all about the text. It got to the point where I had to tell him what I was comfortable with on text, and what actually required a phone call.

We have so many ways to showcase our personalities these days: Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, text messaging, instant messaging, or email. Whew, that’s a lot of typing at each other. How can you determine if a person is actually interested in you when they are using “text”, which doesn’t exactly scream big effort?

Are you seeing someone who spends more of their time typing at you then seeing you in person? Do you think that is genuine interest or boredom?

Guys, you aren’t really big on phones and chatting, do you prefer the texting to communicate because it is a compromise for you?

The meat always seems dry to me which is so NOT the point of El Pollo Loco!

I tried the one on Buford Highway (on the corner with Clairmont) and it was better than the one near Cumberland. The chicken wasn’t dry at all. I’ve actually gone back to that location two more times. Those are the only two crazy chicken eateries that I tried.

Fabulous. I have a coupon for free fries and a drink with purchase of an Angus burger. That budget bargain blog on AJC is actually pretty decent. I think she’s looking for readers who actually comment.

@abc oh i know that IPs can be faked / concealed. but if you use a proxy server, you aren’t anonymous to that proxy. software like tor is slightly better, but it’s also really easy to get wrong.

still, my overall point is that even if you don’t give the scrap, someone else will. and if someone wants to do damage, facebook / twitter / etc. is probably the least effective way to go about it. and if one identity goes wrong, it’s possible to craft a new one — both online and off.

ARed! 6 Jamba Juices!! LOLOL dang, I thought I was bad!

Page – I can admit that I am mildly obsessed. Jamba Juice and I are friends on FB. He sends me coupons. I love he.

I had a BIG presentation with one of my clients. My boss (a VP) and the CEO came with me. I was driving. At the end of it, we had enough time to catch an earlier flight. They have wives and families to get home to. I told them we wouldn’t be going anywhere til I got my Jamba Juice. The CEO was like :???:

They waited in the car, but I got my damn juice.

NOt about to hang around all these cackling lil girls

if u arent going to be home, make sure u lock all ur liqor/beers away so they wont get to it.A mother in Dglasville was jailed for letting her young ones get to her beer and the kids getting intoxicated.Contrib to the Deliquency of a minor or some such offense.
I think that was harsh coz the kids got the beer at their own volition.
Shes now a felon!
Well,u might argue, the kids were deliquent be4 they even got to the beer and intoxication part!
Go figure.

Sounds like denial, Ella. I’m not casting aspersions, really; understanding the background, breadth, depth and impacts takes a lot of knowledge about how it all really works together, and I’m accustomed to people that don’t want to take my word for it, especially those who are emotionally invested in those technologies.

It reminds me of a JavaScript Programming book I read 15 years ago, which stated that while it was theoretically possible for some underhanded techniques to be used to compromise user privacy and confidentiality, making them trackable and traceable no matter their activities as long as they were connected to a network of any kind, nobody would ever really do that, it was just urban legend, folklore. Yet, the company I worked for at the time, concerned primarily with collection of personal data for purposes of marketing profiles, was doing exactly that and 10 times more (and worse!) already. People don’t realize the lengths that technology will go to in order to make a buck, or many multiple millions, billions. It’s the biggest pot of gold at the end of the biggest rainbow that ever was.

Shoot, maybe I’m on the wrong side of this fence! Nah.
