Spotted on Twitter: “Blackberries, iPhones and Twitter killed the dating world. R.I.P.” This statement coming from The Fly Guy himself, made me think, “How do we even manage to hook up in person anymore?!” I know a lot of us are way into technology and social networking, but is it becoming harder for you to strike a balance with old school dating?

You know, calling a person up, asking them out, going to pick them up, and enjoying the company with quality face to face time. Yeah, that’s old school dating! Today, we send evites, tweets, Facebook messages to set things up with friends and dates.

The younger guy (I still need a name for him) I am seeing is all about the text. It got to the point where I had to tell him what I was comfortable with on text, and what actually required a phone call.

We have so many ways to showcase our personalities these days: Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, text messaging, instant messaging, or email. Whew, that’s a lot of typing at each other. How can you determine if a person is actually interested in you when they are using “text”, which doesn’t exactly scream big effort?

Are you seeing someone who spends more of their time typing at you then seeing you in person? Do you think that is genuine interest or boredom?

Guys, you aren’t really big on phones and chatting, do you prefer the texting to communicate because it is a compromise for you?

Summertime is good, but why not go back to Kool & the Gang’s Summer Madness (which is what Jeffrey Townes sampled for that song.)? It has no words and it is is just a cool song to chill too.

Alright, Wise – I gave you an idea of what to call the “young lad”, but ummm, you’d have to get my previous post out of spam to see it. The barter system at it’s finest. LOL

I’m so ready for the new school year…the girls have long been ready since mid to late June. But they’ll admit they had a pretty interesting summer.

Cee – Frog legs are cool. Are you sure those were not BBQ snapbaickas? What about that “gaeta”…cuz we already know how you feel about ol “Wilbur”. I sure hope mistah can convince you otherwise, about the other white meat. LOL

ARed, occasionally the topic is interesting enough to merit debate. That doesn’t mean that debate follows, but now and then, it merits interest. I like a good debate, maybe it’s my inner obstinate and combative child. Topics change within an hour or so, though; I’ll never meet anyone from here in person, so there isn’t an alternative medium — and that’s okay with me, really — and I’m anonymous enough.

Ohhhhhhh ok, ARed. Yeah, I was going 51 in a 25 in stone mountain and my ticket was $762. Just a heads up…you can either pay it outright, or you can go on probation. if you do probation, you will be charged a $10 service charge every month and have to report to your PO every time you leave the state. When I got my ticket, I was gonna do the probation, but then I was leaving the state the next morning heading to Phoenix for NBA All Star Weekend and the PO dude was like “you have to get permission first to leave the state”. I was like “ummm, check this out..I’m going to Phoenix in the morning and it was already planned, so I guess consider this your notice”. LOL. The next day I just paid the ticket. *shrugs*

if Halle Berry insists to her boyfriend/hubby that there was no real sexx going on in that clip, hes a suckker for sho

A friend of mine, says he lost respect for her as an actress because of that scene alone. I asked him about a few others, who had done such raw sex scenes as well. He was basically like “I look at it as – if it were my daughter up there showing her tits and azz all over the place, I’d have a major problem with that.” So I of course said “but she’s not your daughter…as a matter of fact you don’t have one”. And he replied, “But she’s a sistah, period…that’s some ol Hollywood bull and ya’ll know better”. This actually reminds me of Jada Pinkett and Allen Payne in Jason’s Lyric. And I didn’t really hear many bruthas complaining about that, so… just sayin

Also, Page – I’ve had that whole ‘probation’ thing happen because I was like $40 short of cash for the ticket. They put me on probation for a damn day. I had to go back the next day and pay the ticket, the court costs AND the probation for a day fee. Needless to say, I was 38HOT!!!

W8 – On Monday. I had just gotten off the plane from Cali where the speed limit is 70! I had left my id in my jeans pocket since I had to go to security. It was because I didn’t have my license on me is why I had to go to court, I guess.

I called my friend who is a Gwinnett PD officer and told him what happened and all he could say was “what the f*ck were you thinking!? You could have gotten arrested for that!”

ARed- Yep! I had to go to court that night because it was mandatory that I appear in front of the judge. So, I called my friend and asked him what I should do. He is a pro at getting tickets lol. He told me to do an online traffic school and take the certificate to the judge that night. So, I did. The online traffic school was like $25 and I did it and printed out my certificate. He also told me to print out my driving records from Cali and AZ and take that with me to show that I was a good driver before I moved to GA. So, I did.

Well, I show up at court and I am there like 2 hours! Finally, they call me up and the judge was like “wow….51 in a 25 zone, huh?”. I said, “at this time I would like to request a reduction in the fine. i have attended traffic school and I have with me documentation of my driving records from Cali and Az”. The he said “oh….California, huh? I don’t know what it is about California drivers who move to Atlanta thinking they can drive the same way”. I didn’t say anything. So, then he said “Well, your records appear to be clean and I commend you on attending traffic school, BUT, it’s not gonna help you in this case. The $762 is the MINIMUM fine for this ticket. Consider yourself lucky because it could have been up to $1,000k”. I just stood there with a blank stare on my face. lmao.

SCool- YEP, they get you with that probation mess. The dude said, we will give you 12 months to pay the $762, but you have to come to the office every month and pay $112 and $80 of that will go towards the ticket, the rest is the administration fee. I was like oh hellz no. Why am I gonna pay over $1,000 for a ticket that is $762?!

Kym – I fight all of my tickets in court. I have that right and I exercise it. The very first one I lost because I didn’t know what I was doing. The others I’ve won.

I have other uses of $750 other than giving the City of Atlanta that money. They’ve already raised my property taxes and my water bill. I’m not giving them another $750 without a fight.

Besides, they clocked me going a speed that I really feel I was not traveling. I think they upped it to get more $. Cuz had it been one more mph, it was in “suspended license” territory. How convenient.

@ Kym – I was thinking the same.

I got a $690 ticket was going 93 in a 70. The orginal amt. was $900 but i showed up to court and argued that it was not 93mph …the cop and i went back and forth..they dropped it because the cop pulled me and another guy over at the same time….radar is still used in Savannah. I just paid. It’s off DMV no insurance increase….

AR

You pretty much need to show up if you have a court date. The only way to not show is to pay in advance.

You may be lucky and the officer might not show up. Sometimes, Judges will throw it out or reduce it if that happens.

$750?? Then you are less likely to get it thrown out, but it might get reduced if the officer doesn’t show.

Sorry to hear that.

Were you going more than 20 mph over the limit. You are lucky because the new superspeeder law doesn’t go into effect until Jan. 1, 2010. Which would add another $200 on to the amount.

ARed- The thing with the red light camera’s is that when I fight them, I am not trying to get off based on saying “I wasn’t speeding”. I get off based on the fact that the way in which those tickets are served (through the mail) is illegal. Like I said, if there is a loop hole somewhere, I’m gonna find it. I probably got 4 of those tickets in Phoenix alone during the 3 years I lived there. A lot of my coworkers would all get off on theirs too. At the time, my boss was the Governor of AZ, so with her, plus all the people I knew in the Attorney General’s office, I knew I could find someone to give me some advice lol.

PG – I thought they threw out tickets when the officer doesn’t show. Boo hiss.

He said I was going 29 miles over. 30 would be a suspended license.

Do they try the cases that day? I am building my case and my court date is coming up quickly. I thought this first date was just to plead ‘not guilty’ and then come back. Each state has been different with that one. In MA you have to see the magistrate first and he’ll determine if you get a court date or not. He could tell I was gonna fight so he just threw it out. It’s just you and the magistrate in MA so you know he’s hedging bets and cutting deals.

…gotta do somethin’ about this here “UPgrade”…(upgrade my behind)

I’ve responded several times Cee…but yeah, these little girls are so ready, it ain’t funny. Treas’ had a couple of weeks of Algebra Camp in the a.m. before getting a little OJT and/or community hours in the afternoons. She’ll be so busy this school year to come though. Trin & Lahn had a good time in music camp. Burgess is pretty good. However, I’ve decided to sign them up for a few classes afterschool with the Patel Conservatory at Tpa Bay Performing Arts Center. Folks are always in my ear about those two, especially my youngest. But this is simply a little something extra for them to look forward to. They are still (my)children. Besides, books come first.

So, you’re not quite ready for Lil G to go on to the next level yet, huh? I know how that can be. Shoot, between him & Trini – this is the last year for elementary and onto middle school. Wow. Now that I think about it…hmph. I’ve already decided to sign/transfer my two youngest from their current magnet over to Rampello Magnet (they’re actually K-8) for the following schoolyear. I just hope that I’m granted with my first selection. So I guess that I’m kind of holding on myself with those two.
