Sowing Wild Oats

There is a common perception about single people, especially single men, that the allure of sowing our wild oats is keeping us single. Apparently, we are too busy and satisfied, to settle down with one person. I’m sure that is the case for some single people. They are reaping the benefits of the “buffet”, dating a variety of people, experimenting, etc. Do you think that this is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Is it good to sow our wild oats? Do you even have wild oats?! I don’t think I do, and I am definitely not sowing anything, but that’s just me.

What do you think single people should be doing before they settle down?

Should single people “get it out of their systems” so that when they are married, it won’t be a problem to be commited? If you are married or have been married, did you have something you wanted to do before you settled? Did it make any difference?

SCool – Okay, I was wondering where that song came from!

The Americanization of Foreign women is just the fear that some men have of a woman growing a backbone, having an opinion and telling him where he can shove his foolishness.

Raqi – Yeah!

“just the fear that some men have of a woman growing a backbone, having an opinion and telling him where he can shove his foolishness” YEP, YEP, and TRIPLE YEP! That’s why I say it’s gonna be a bumpy ride. The more we speak, complain, not submissive (oh boy, there’s that word), we are the one’s with the problem.

@Raqi I guess it depends on the person..my world is just fine.

@Staceye I am not trying to cause a revolution but I do grow weary of folks saying this is how it should be…says who..Don’t should on me man..I don’t like it. There are things in life we all have to do..pay taxes(less you go to the pokey) bathe(less you stink and get disease) Food and air(less you died) but marriage and companionship are options not requirements.

As a single person, people need to be enjoying life and experiencing all they want to do. Don’t wait until marriage to do stuff. I have been on vacations all the time with my sister. Most of my friends were like, why not wait until you have a boyfriend. I wanted to do what I wanted, when I wanted. No need to put life on hold.

Before I met my SO, I dated a lot. I didn’t hate it, in fact I enjoyed going out with a man to nice resturants and concerts, or wherever. I even had one of my friends reeling in horror when she asked me if I planned to get married before I turn 30 (I’m 28). I told her if I never get married, I’m fine with it. if I do get married, I’ll be thankful to have found a wonderful man to share my life with. (She said she will not be single because she choses not to be. Sounds like someone who will take any old thing to me.lol)

Know what? about a week after I told her that, I met my SO, the man I plan to marry one day, and he me.

People need to become comfortable with themselves and enjoy life. They need to enjoy before they get married and have a early midlife crisis. Not saying everyone does, but most people regret not being young.Young doesn’t mean stupid, but enjoying life and not putting it on hold.

So are having babies, going to college, buying a house rather than renting an apartment, believing in a higher power, going to church, etc. You get the picture. When you don’t do what others say you “should”, then the “others” think you owe the world an explanation too.

It takes courage to reject the “norm” and do your own thing, live your life your way, be an original! A lot of folks are scared.

I’m not.

Foreigners male or female (No matter the race) are more into love and family first than everything else…we get caught up in appearances and the daily grind…I will be checking on this theory again August 13-18th from a purely scientific point…I shall report my findings upon return…lmao

On sowing wild oats…there is no perfect seed….Live your life…….

@kimmie I am not scared either. We all get one life(well personally I believe in past lives) but while you are in this life for this time why not live your best life(Thanks Oprah). An who says your best life involves marriage, kids and a minivan. It could involve a backpacking through Europe or joining the peace corps. Live your best life

I think RAQI stole my dictionary to answer The Villainous One. Actually, she answered herself cuz he got distracted. Apparently moved past the fondling stage to the sowing portion of the afternoon… Luisa bout to get it…

I need a few personal days, myself. Maybe I’ll go to Charleston or Key West if my Mega Millions don’t come thru.
