Everything Old Is New Again

The results of the Great Male Survey 2009 from Askmen.com are in. I eagerly anticipate this each year (no sarcasm, really) because it’s like getting a small peek into a cross-section of men that are in my dating pool. From what I can tell, modern men are still big on tradition: “When it comes to the romantic front, everything old is new again”  I feel that this is a great thing to hear, for the most part.  That doesn’t mean I don’t struggle with some of the ideas that come with that though.

The Dating & Sex part of the survey had a lot of great questions. I would be interested to hear some of our male readers to respond to the first five: Do you believe that you have a soul mate? What is the most important personality trait that makes a woman “relationship material”? Is it important for a girlfriend to have “wife potential”? Do you believe in marriage? How important is it to you for your future wife to sign a prenup?

Ladies, the Great Female Survey was given by Yahoo’s female portal, Shine. Same questions for you: Do you believe that you have a soul mate? What is the most important personality trait that makes a man “relationship material”? Is it important for a boyfriend to have “husband potential”? Do you believe in marriage? Do you want your future husband to sign a prenup? Would you sign one?

Some of the numbers surprised me, what do you think about the responses?

Happy Friday everyone!

Swiss – Well first off, he biased…he loves his “chocolate” (chicks). I’d say that he has a pretty good outlook on life and a clearview on what it takes to work through life’s trials and definitely up to the challenge. Definitely see marriage-material in his posts. Congrats, btw!

ForReal – Good sense of humor may be just enough to drop the panteez! Just keep in mind that he does want you for the long haul. Just enough time to introduce his Ballwood to the coota-cat and next to the AA Dolphin. Eeek..aaaccckkk….eeekkk…eeekkk! But I still see lots of potential for a longterm relationship, however I believe you when you say…marriage it OUT!

Leggs Exactly. Their insurance should be getting the cars repaired or replaced. Maybe the company is loaning the money in good faith until the insurance does what they are going to do. I hope that the case. If not that’s a slap in the face.

Correction: Keep in mind that ForReal does NOT want you for the long haul…maybe Ballwood for at least 45 minutes or so…but that’s it.

Rell – First thing comes to my mind with good ‘ol Rell…he loves himself some yams and there always in season. LOL But honestly, like I said before, there’s definitely a transition going on his life. He knows a hard day’s work and will put the work in. For a relationship? Not so much. I think he definitely has it in him to give, but he fears giving it to the wrong one…again. (the story of a lot of folks’ lives) But I do believe once he finds himself a winner, she won’t be what he was expecting…like not knowing what you’re really thirsty for, until someone passes you a cold one…and you may find that it (she) hit the spot so well, that you’ll be double-checking the label.

Melo, the problem with health care in the US as it’s manifested in the past decade have primarily to do with 4-fold increase in medical costs, 8-fold increase in medical insurance revenues, and non-availability of affordable insurance for over 15% of the country’s population.

Medical costs escalate with big pharma payola to medical industry, specifically doctors themselves; the industry is referral oriented and pays on a fee-per-service basis, so the more tests, treatments and prescriptions that are specified, the more money the industry makes; they sock it to the insurance companies to pay for it, and the insurance companies compensate by charging more for premiums and denying treatments. This has everything to do with why America ranks at the bottom of industrialized countries in terms of chronic care and infant mortality while costing more than any other country.

I say, do away with fees-per-service, making the medical industry based on salary across the board; regulate big pharma and the insurance industry such that they can’t gouge and rackateer; watch costs drop as unnecessary tests, treatments, and prescriptions drop, along with more granular costs for each category; and come up with a plan that is similar to Medicare/Medicaid in function (I say in function, not in design) such that people who have jobs that don’t provide insurance have some coverage. Regulate stringently and punish non-compliance.

It wouldn’t cost any $3 trillion, either. But it would break ties with medical, pharma and insurance lobbies, powerful ones that hold much sway in Washington, and that may be a lot easier said than done. But it would mean put up or shut up, calling a spade and so on: are we all about politics, or are we all about making a health care system that benefits all citizens without penalizing any citizens?

Truth – One thing about him, he loves his dogs. But like them, (at least for him) the more well-trained a woman by the time he gets to her, the better off she will be…and the better off they will be. Wellll…that is, only for about 2-3 years, because after that her shelf life has expired, and you will be replaced. But if you got fiyah booty, he just may recycle you back into rotation, if the booty is slim pickins. All around good man though, he just doesn’t want to admit it. ;)

medical industry based on salary across the board
how do u regulate the salries ABC

the 45 million pple that Obama is tryiong to have insured,u think that feasible or how do u think that shld be financed?
the talk on right wing shows is that canada and england dont have good models, which cntries then wld we model thiss with?? In a way its true that if the coverage is expanded sme things, even with my insurance which is ok,will change, maybe for the worse.
But i know too, this ia all about capitalism and the rates of return that the insurance industries, docs etc regard as acceptable or not.

Melo

He is still around. I saw him interviewed by CNN back in June 2009. So, he is around.

I actually liked that Lewis had some competition. It woke him up. He is a nice guy but sometimes gets scarce around the district. He has held his position of almost 25 yrs. Anyone can get complacent, even good people. It must re-lit his fire because I’ve seen him more since then than I did three years prior to that.

With that said, I wasn’t voting for Hutchins or MableThomas.
