Not new to this

Single people can be a creative bunch. We come up with the most unique excuses reasons not to date someone. I’m talking about the “relationship resume” that some people prefer to be long, detailed, and has proof of commitment. You say you are a good candidate? We’re going to need references!

While some prefer not to date a previously married person, others would just like someone who is not new to the relationship thing. I can admit that dating someone with no real relationship experience can be challenging.

You may have to become a virtual relationship guide and exercise a little more patience. It’s not necessarily impossible to do but I am pretty sure the inexperienced person would have to put up with something too. That’s why it’s called a relationship.

Do you think those post high school and college relationships really make a big difference in our relationship resume? What do you think is important in a person’s dating history?

What was the relationship from your past that you think helped make you a better person?

Which one do you think actually created some emotional baggage for you?

Would it bother you if you were dating someone who has never had a long-term relationship before?

I want to remind you that the Misadventures in Atlanta blog will be closed on Friday.

Happy Monday!

@ lurker re: 1:36 comment…I totally agree. I never once said my thoughts were not screwed up…that is why dating is a pain in the backside, we have built walls. Hellz, it is really hard to get past the inital “screening”. That was my point.

I know that they’ve date off and on for about 10 years. Tip didn’t have deals and such back then, though. He was breaking into the biz.

My uncle worked at the airport and one of his co-workers was the father of “Q” from 112. They all had some Cleveland Ave clique going on when it came to the music biz.

@ lurker re your question about “why still dating in my 40’s”…because my marriage ended in my 40’s. I was married a long time. Sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn’t.

By the way, if I had read my post I would have asked the same questions.

So either, she just real about her ghetto ish or that her money cant seem to polish and finese her ghetto ish at all.

From what I hear, her dad is really sick with Alzheimer’s. SO, a lot of time really goes to dealing with that and dealing with her kid’s. I think that she probably lived up the life and may not have managed all of it well, either.

My wife actually stayed up and watched the premier last night of her show with Toya. I didn’t want to do that.

@PG

I was trying NOT to say roadie for the folks…so I chose “work” but, yeah, Tip but in his dues at LaFace.

As for LaFace, in the early 90s that place a temple of inquities and music…all the major artists that hit with the label had been there for a while. LA didn’t play “going into the studio and doing your thang” he was trying to teach them the whole business.

But those were the good ole days….the “talent show” crews were fantastic…

I remember LaFace.

Back in the day, I remember dating a female that worked there. I didn’t hang around the office or anything. However, I do remember meeting LA Reid. Also, I remember spending one New Year’s here in the ATL. The female kept saying that she got us into Kenny’s New Year Eve Party. For some reason, I didn’t think that Kenny that she was talking of was Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.

I just passed the information along.

I didn’t even look at price. I knew that it was doubtful that we could go.

I can’t say without reading it. There is always fine print.

Furthermore, you are in California and some of the laws out there may be out of whack with the rest of the country.

One of my professors groans when she see that a case ruling came out of Cali because it may not be good caselaw anywhere else.

So uhh… how many teardrops does it take to qualify as sufficiently grieving? Some folks need to GTFOH with insisting everyone process how they do. But then I’m not one to wallow. I may even have to pencil the good cry in (watch Beaches, Fried Green Tomatoes, Set It Off or sumthin) then regain my composure and press on.

I don’t think they EVER had me, but if they did, BET lost me with Cita. I will never, ever, ever, ever, get over their selection of Sambo’s daugther as representative of either Black women or the type of viewers they hoped to attract.

Maxwell…I think we made a verbal agreement a few weeks ago to take that ride to Savannah. Time flies. Does anyone know that venue? What’s a good seat to me ain’t always the textbook definition.

What I say to you has zero to do with the weekend & my man okay? And yeah, you call AA out of name ALL THE TIME, not just today, so yeah, TODAY I just felt like checking you on it! You were remarking Friday about how we women don’t take up for each other – well today I can’t write it off as FRIENDLY BANTER!
