Single people can be a creative bunch. We come up with the most unique excuses reasons not to date someone. I’m talking about the “relationship resume” that some people prefer to be long, detailed, and has proof of commitment. You say you are a good candidate? We’re going to need references!
While some prefer not to date a previously married person, others would just like someone who is not new to the relationship thing. I can admit that dating someone with no real relationship experience can be challenging.
You may have to become a virtual relationship guide and exercise a little more patience. It’s not necessarily impossible to do but I am pretty sure the inexperienced person would have to put up with something too. That’s why it’s called a relationship.
Do you think those post high school and college relationships really make a big difference in our relationship resume? What do you think is important in a person’s dating history?
What was the relationship from your past that you think helped make you a better person?
Which one do you think actually created some emotional baggage for you?
Would it bother you if you were dating someone who has never had a long-term relationship before?
I want to remind you that the Misadventures in Atlanta blog will be closed on Friday.
Happy Monday!

F your past Baby cause I’m your future anyway. You just need to let me know if you were working for Pimpin Ken in your former city, you know alot of people come to Atlanta running from their past.
On the BET awards.. Monica upstaged Keyshia.. Maxwell killed it. Where did they dig up Tevin Campbell, Aaron Hall shouldnt have danced that hard and tried to sing, Tiny dont need to say nothing anymore the rest of her life(She sounds so ugly and nasty by the mouth), Don Cronelius should have stayed in retirement and Eddie Levert cussing was the funniest.

The guy in the OxyClean commercials has died. He was 50!
Where the heck did they find Tevin Campbell???? I enjoyed seeing him on stage!
I have been friends w/a man for 30+ years. Friends w/his wife and daughter as well. Hung out at their house many times and never anything in appropriate between the 2 of us. I was friends with him before he married. Well, now that I’m divorced she has called me and ask that I no longer communicate with her husband. Asked why and she told me that I am now single and eligible to date and she doesn’t want single women around her husband. I spoke to my friend and told him what she asked of me and told him I have to honor her request.

but never asking them to change their relationship.
EPO – To each his own. I have guy friends I love like family, but if a life mate came into the picture and had a valid concern about the closeness of our relationship, I’d absolutely scale it back.
These guy friends have done things like taken me on cruises before. It was fine when I was single, if my guy and I are talking marriage, it’s not appropriate.
I absolutely feel I have the right to express my side and hope that the nature of the relationship changes. People have a choice. And if the choice is made to not change a thing, then I can walk away.
What would be the point of “sharing my point of view” in the first place if nothing was going to change?

Melo I agree about asking questions and all, but at this point in my life I realize a person’s history can be whatever they tell you. Also I know a lot of “go getters” I am one, so while a lot of folks were dating and making babies and stuff I was climbing the career ladder, which limits some things

Not to miss Mo & W8 Hey!…I thought about giving Micheal a louder blast this weekend while i played the music in my car. But you know my current car has nothing on a real Kenwood with the trunk rattling da speakers…so only my passengers and maybe lane cars heard my many times “repeat” of “Lady Of My Life”.

When I saw Monica with K.Cole, I knew that pairing was gone be bad, because Monica can actually sing. Ciara disappointed me a little too…
@SC
I don’t think it was the tribute to MJ as the revamping of the show and the lack of coherent direction. Whoever directed that show may never do so again.
And whoever ran the censor button should never be allowed to do that again either.

Leggs – How much did I love, love, LOVE Tevin Campbell growing up?! It was great to see him.
One of my happiest childhood memories. I was 16 or so and had a summer internship with Warner Bros Records. I was sitting at my desk and get a urgent call to come to one of the execs offices. I was scared as I had no power, clout or anything…what did I do?
I walk into the office and Tevin Campbell is waiting for me! My bosses new how much I loved him and they arranged for us to meet that day. He was totally nice!
I was on cloud nine for the rest of the summer.

AmazonRed OK, I see your point, I was thinking more along the lines of express your feelings and see if your mate takes the initiative to scale things back on their own… if they do not, I would take that as a sign to walk away.
But you have a point I can see the benefit of asking specifically for waht you want.

Morning Blog Folks
Had a very fun weekend. Kids are back & in full effect!LOL!! To top that off, SO bought them a waterslide. I’m thinking it was going to be just an updated version of the old-school Slip N Slide. How about it was this huge thing that took up half the backyard! He needed to be charging admission! He invited some of the neighborhood kids(along with their parents) to play on it. I told him his house was the official “cool house” now! After playing on the slide they came in and watched a movie in his new home theatre & we served them popcorn & drinks. Yeah, the new cool house!
On topic – I had a few crushes, but didn’t really “date” anyone seriously in high school, thus my innocent status upon graduation. It was easier that way, trust me. I gained experience in college but did not meet The One. I’ve never dated anyone that did not have any experience with a long-term relationship, but I’ve had friends that have and it was not pretty. I try not to judge a person because they’ve never been married or have kids, cause I am so not in a position to judge on that. What matters to me is the entire “body of work” so to speak. If they’ve been in some bad relationships, did they learn from them and are they over them? Are they a goood father to the kids they have? Is there any inappropriate contact with any exes? If those check out well, I have to judge them on how they are with ME. That’s all I really have to go on.

But if u say u were studying for ur phd etc and then later on i find out, u have 2 dead baby daddies u never talked about, then i know,u werent solely climbing the ladder but were on other extra curricula activities too.

Shamless of him to try to plug his new record business or whatever it was he was plugging.

On BET…the show got better in the second half. Tyrese, Johnny Gill and Trey Songz tore the O’jays tribute up. I loved it! Maxwell…ewwwwweeeeeeeee. Can’t wait until July 7th for the new CD. Babies WILL be made off that CD.
However, I just shook my head when Beyonce came out singing a religious song with lingerie on. Geez. We don’t need to see her “goods” ALL the time. You mean to tell me that even angels are dressing like hoochies these days? Say it ain’t so. Say it ain’t so…She sang the song nicely though. I just felt like I was watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show while she was singing it.

The BET awards are always a hot mess to me. They are always just a step up from a high school auditorium or gym, with high school seniors producing it. Always ghetto to me. But what do you expect from a sellout network? That’s always been my beef with BET – not the business decision to sell them, but the quality which has always been sorely lacking.
I knew the world would be paying attention to the awards last night because of MJ.
I do understand, SCool, about artists and how they live in a different world though. You don’t tune into the BET awards or even the Grammy’s expecting folks to be dressed and acting like they are at the Kennedy Center or the Oscars. So I fully expect the wild outfits & haircuts and crazy performances. But the production, the sets, the timing, lighting, etc are always sub-par with BET. And there ARE folks out there that are skilled at that type of thing that they could hire. When are they going to get it together?!!
