Where is your label?

Sexual orientation can be a touchy topic among single people on the dating scene. Some people want to know immediately; some try to guess, while others make a fool of themselves with assumptions. Do you think it is rude and impolite to inquire about sexual orientation?

I am a pretty friendly person so a lot of times I like to get clarification about whether I am engaging in friendly chat with a stranger or if we are checking each other out for potential romance, number exchange, or whatever. I have simply asked outright. Not in a malicious way or to offend, I just put it out there so I can get clarity: Do you date women, men, or both?

Do you ask people their orientation when you first meet them? Have you ever been asked the “which team are you playing for” type of question? How did you react?

I have known women who consider themselves bisexual. I am not sure if it means anything, but they currently are seeking/are in relationships with men. Their attraction for women is still there and they openly tell men about their past experiences and it does not seem to impede them.

Guys, what do you think about women who have had relationships with both genders? Could you see yourself in a serious relationship with one?

Ladies, if a man admitted to having prior experiences with other men, is that an immediate turn off for you? Do you feel comfortable discussing this type of thing with someone you are getting to know?

What do you think about sexual labels: straight, gay, bisexual..etc. Are they necessary or not important?

Touchy topic, so let’s keep the discussion adult and clean.

Lioness – She believed me, besides, I had proof so there wasn’t much choice anyway. But yeah, she’s just in love and he provides well for her, so it’s not easy to walk away.

KYM..dayyym girl. I was totally caught up in reading your 2:02.

BLAH…”Gay people hiding their sexual orientation don’t hurt society” …it does when they marry and bring kids into the world then decide they can no longer live the “lie”. Then hurt that wife and those kids! You need to decide which team you playing for before doing that. It’s not just about you anymore when you get married.

So much trouble in the world
So much trouble in the world

Bless my eyes this morning
Jah sun is on the rise once again
The way earthly thin’s are goin’
Anything can happen.

You see men sailing on their ego trip,
Blast off on their spaceship,
Million miles from reality:
No care for you, no care for me.

So much trouble in the world;
So much trouble in the world.
All you got to do: give a little (give a little),
Give a little (give a little), give a little (give a little)!
One more time, ye-ah! (give a little) Ye-ah! (give a little)
Ye-ah! (give a little) Yeah!

no, Hoover wasn’t a President. In a lot of ways Hoover had more power than any President he served under.

But the nature of politics is mutually assured destruction. So someone with enough dirt on potential attackers could run as a gay or lesbian for President.

That’s what I was referring to from your post.

Three nights ago
I was at a disco
Man, I wanted to bump
I was rarin’ to go
And this big fat woman
Bumped me on the floor
She was rarin’ to go
That chick was rarin’ to go
Then she did a dip
Almost broke my hip
She was gettin’ down
That chick was gettin’ down
She wanted to bump some more
But I told her, “No!”
You done knocked me down once
You done knocked me down once
Said if you want to dance
Find you a big fat man
Y’all both can get on down
Y’all both can get on down
Huh!

I ain’t gonna bump no more with no big fat woman
I ain’t gonna bump no more with no big fat woman
I ain’t gonna bump no more with no big fat woman
I ain’t gonna bump no more with no big fat woman
Lord, I ain’t gonna bump no more with no big fat woman
I ain’t gonna bump no more with no big fat woman

Speaking of Cops –

If you drive down Northside Drive, please note that the speed limit is 35 mph. APD has started road blocks and is enforcing this more. There have been some really awful wrecks on Northside lately. One at Northside and 10th intersection was fatal. Northside and 8th has been bad, too.

There will also be more cops in that area because of the GT robberies.

They will give you a ticket.

I’m not saying people can’t identify with the struggle, empathize even. It’s just that no one is questioning your humanity – as some still do for black people today.

As for my earlier statement, I still say the main difference is you’re being discriminated based your sexuality, but you’re still a human being to the “majority”.

@Cafe

What I find interesting about the lesbian community in and around the ATL is the number of women who have chosen lesbianism as the alternative to emotional void or abusive heterosexual relationships they have endured…and they run at almost 50% it seems…and to me these types of “lesbians” are not really attracted to woman by desire but rather by default…and another thing that I see is a lot more women openly discussing exploring their bicuriosity…I met this one chick who honestly told me that she loved her man but the chick she kicked it with sexually gave her the best oral sex that she has ever experienced…so it seems that ATL has a very dynamic lesbian community.

@M – Those have been my same experiences. Sometimes, people do choose homosexuality as an escape from some form of past abuse. But that’s another Oprah episode. I’ve known about my attraction to women since I was four years old and was blessed to have very accepting parents.
