Because He Kept Me Off the Pole
Sunday is Father’s Day, a rare day when some men get as good as they give. If you are fortunate enough to have a father that is still here, I urge you to spend time with him. If that is not possible then I think a card or phone call can go a long way!
I am so thankful for my Father, for always being there for me. He has been such a great example of what a good man is. I remember listening to comic Chris Rock joke about being a father to his daughters and the importance of being a good dad: I realize my only job in life is to keep her off the pole. I mean they don’t grade fathers but if your daughter is a stripper you messed up.
I love my Dad because he’s kept me off the pole and kept me from doing outrageous things to a man on a dance floor (I’m still in disbelief, sorry). I love my dad because he is always supportive, loves me unconditionally, and has always been there for me. In a lot of ways, I think he has set the standard for my relationships with men.
Ladies, why do you love your father? What has he taught you about dating, relationships, and men?
If you are dating a single dad, do you plan to celebrate Father’s day with him? Do you show him that you admire him for being a wonderful father?

@ARed thanks but I’ve made plenty of mistakes…I don’t think anyone totally “gets it right”,
RandyT – Exactly. As much as I brag about my Dad, ask my middle sister and you might get a lukewarm answer. My dad put in long hours so that my mom could stay at home and we could have “things” but she is resentful that he wasn’t at everything because he was working. I guess it wasn’t enough to have mom there at everything. He suffered through many a dance recital after a 12 hour work day.
But historically, middle children always feel they come up short.

Sheesh, I have a lot to read.
W8 said he was surprised I was as quiet as I was. I have to survey my surroundings before I open up. If that takes to long, I let the liquor help me along.
@Page, always starting trouble. You guys and that mini skirt are too funny. As far as the boobs, you guys have some soft big ta tas. She women are fun, we all didn’t have any misgivings about each other squeezing the melons…that was too funny to me.

@Mo, I’m not sure if any of you thanked the two nice white men, but I did. I went over and shook both their hands and said “thank you” from the all of 3 three of us.

Correction when I said I never used the word “daddy” a day in my life. I meant in the context w/my father. I use it when talking to my daugther about her “daddy” coming over.

I just been allowing my son to visit my folks for long periods (by that i mean 2weeks or more at a time)during the summer. Now he knows the rule of “slap anybody” (including family) that tries to say sumthin’ crazy, OR try sumthin’ crazy to, or around you.
And then call me ‘cuase im there!
He’s always okay though cause my mom is there & is waaaay more ganster than i am. She don’t play about that grandson!

my daddy did the best he could by us (mom, sister and me) and still does. i love him for that. he did better than his father did which i think is every man’s goal. he taught me everything i know about being responsible and working the hell out of a dollar…lol. he is definitely a savings guru.

…this missing portion of my initial yet lengthy post…
I also came to grips at the age (previously stated above) that I had been chasing my father for quite sometime, through previous relationships thinking if I had just tried a little harder at the relationship, things would “pan out”. Hardly the case.
So all of that to say, he taught me (vicariously) through my own life’s lessons, that poor decision making was still no excuse due to life’s circumstances. And that I am still accountable for dealing with my own issues, instead of allowing “my issues” to deal with me. Being an only child, I was not spoiled by neither parent and I was forced to be independent and grow up rather fast and was taught that crying, whinning and/or feeling sorry for myself was unacceptable. When it seemed as if my life was full of nothing but lemons, I actually HAD a choice. I can either make some lemonade or just go thirsty. And I’ll be damned if it was going to be the latter.
Now my step father? He gives me hope and reconfirms what I already knew and that is: Anything’s possible as long as I continue to live up to the meaning of my gubment name —–> “to be open”. And that I truly am.
