Nothing Left to Say

Today’s entry is courtesy of one of our wonderful, fabulous readers. I hope she doesn’t mind that I took her topic idea almost in it’s entirety! Check out what “Foots” had to say:

The things that made me love you are the things pushing me away now. – Nothing Left to Say (Mint Condition)

I believe that many desirable and undesirable qualities are flip sides of the same coin.  In their song, they speak of wonderful attentiveness becoming crazy possessiveness.  In my past, I dated a guy who I admired that he was such a good friend and concerned family member and that he kept in touch with his friends/family often.  But part of the reason we broke up was that we never had any time together because he was ALWAYS on the phone taking on other people’s problems.

Here are some others that I have read or seen before:

  • A friend of mine dated a woman and was impressed by her warmth and caring as a mother.  He broke it off because she spent all her time with her kids.
  • A dude dates a woman because she is so well put together and keeps her appearance up, but eventually he breaks it off because she spends too much time getting all dolled up.
  • A woman is impressed by how far up the corporate ladder her new man has gotten at his young age, but she finds out that it’s because he puts in so much time at the office and never has any time for her.
  • A person loves their new mate’s commitment to their faith, but gets frustrated and leaves because they won’t give up the lovin’.
  • Most men love soft, feminine women, but dislike the fact that she shows all of theses emotions.  But what else would they expect from a soft, feminine woman?
  • Some women prefer the strong, silent type…until they realize that the man never actually talks to them or expresses his feelings.
  • Some men love women who are organized with their life and finances, but they hate that I’m a “planner” type.  I’m trying to figure out how they think I could be so organized without my planner instinct.

So, now, not only do we have to deal with good and bad totally separate qualities that a mate may have (i.e. person may be responsible/dependable, but not terribly romantic), we also have to accept that qualities we love tend to always come with a flip side of the very thing that irritates us the most.

I can really relate to this, on both “sides of the coin”.  What drew me to a guy, was the very reason we ended up hitting the skids: confidence. Oh, confidence is cute in the beginning, but after a while it can be a bit too much.

What do you guys think? Have you experienced this in your relationships?

Is this an example of “careful what you wish for?” or are we a little clueless about relationships are about?

SexyCool

Not taking anything from Jada or her talent, am I the only one that sees this show as a bootleg attempt to copy Shonda and Grey’s?

C’mon SexyCool, of course.

There are very few original ideas in two areas. (1) Automaking and (2) Entertainment

For Example: Friends is just the Caucasian version of Livin’ Single. (A group of men living near A group of girls. One of the girls marry one of the guys, yada, yada, yada)

SCool – Thank you for your 2:28! I have pointed out to Melo a few times where a man has practically said the same thing & it’s okay, but let it be one of us ladies and he feels the need to scold!

I’m down for my sisters and all that they do, but that does not mean I can’t offer constructive criticism, just like I would about anyone else.

I’m kinda interested in Hawthorne myself. I think I’ll give it a shot, especially since all my other shows(Fringe, Supernatural, Terminator) have all ended. I do still have Rescue Me to keep me entertained during the week.

There’s a lot of dawgs out there ready to bite and run back to the pound when their deed is done. Recognize upfront and keep it moving. If a sexuaul relationship is not what you want don’t sweat it. You will go crazy.

Leggs It’s not sexual b/c I’ve had kept one on the side for the wood before…what I don’t like is the b/s some try to push and the smoke they blow up my azz thinking I’ll be impressed with the mediocre frivolities that they seem so focused on. My name is not Lisa Lunchmeat and I don’t like when I get approached with some obviously suspect game. I don’t like having my time wasted and in turn I don’t waste anyone else’s…..

Howdy, folks. I’m way late & don’t have time to catch up, however…

I promised to post this a while back & I’ve finally got my home server back online after the move to Swiss Miss’s place, so here’s a link to my bootleg recording of Prince live @ Phillips Arena from a few years back:

Actually, if you navigate around the parent directories, there’s a crap-load of other stuff up there as well. Not sure how much of it will be of interest to anyone (I am a white boy, remember), but knock yourselves out… ;-)

Hope everyone’s having a great day…

On the real Demi if your gf means alot to you thenI would at first calmly, share with her how you feel and suggest some changes that you BOTH agree on. Don’t attack or seem argumentative as that will cause her to retreat. If things don’t change then you may have to make some other decisions, some of which she may not like. You have to be responsible for YOUR own happiness.

Further proof that entertainment has lost originality….There was a Knight Rider show last year, A-Team movie is in the works and is set to be released in 2010. Miami Vice was a movie nearly 20 years after the show was on TV. (The movie “Sparkle” was on BET yesterday. Philip Michael Thomas is one old dude. Irene Cara ain’t no spring Chicken)

The movie “Fame” comes out later this year. (Debbie Allen is head of the school. But there who will replace Leroy?)

It goes on and on.

Regarding Hawthorne

One of my friends is in programming for Turner. He really wants folks to support the show. The network execs are nervous…they have never greenlit a show with a black female as the lead. If the show flops they won’t be very receptive to creating such shows in the future.

They’ve seen the success of House of Payne and Meet the Browns on TBS, which let them know that such shows can work. However, TNT is thinking this may be a one and done if no one supports.
