City & State or ZIP

That’s not my name

Today’s post is courtesy of “Brian”, a 29 year old man from Smyrna. Brian wanted to offer his perspective  after a recent experience he had with a young lady he was seeing:

I have been going out with someone for a couple of months. A couple of weeks ago, when we were in the heat of the moment, she said someone else’s name. I think it was her ex-boyfriend or something. I didn’t say anything about it at the time but it is making me question if they are still seeing each other. Even if they are not in contact, he is obviously in her thoughts. It was probably an honest mistake but it has never happened to me before.

Wow, Brian, that’s quite the conundrum! I can’t say that has happened to me before. I don’t think it has, anyway. Ladies, have you ever made this mistake? Did you own up to it or ignore it? Do you think Brian should bring it up even though it didn’t just happen? What would you do if you were with a guy and he called you another name by mistake?

Guys, how would you handle it? Have you ever used the wrong name with someone you were seeing? What happened? Did the lady completely flip out about it?

Do you think it means anything when someone you are seeing brings up the name of their last significant other/partner? How many mentions are too many? Are you more understanding if the person was with their ex for a long time?

Happy Thursday

Did someone mention Maze and Frankie Beverly?

Cee- They rocked Chastain a few years ago!

W8 – Yeah, those toga parties were legendary!! I have pictures of myself in togas going to those parties! I led a conga line once at one, had a blast!!! Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me!

Yeah, the Alpharetta venue is nice, but can’t give up my Chastain for Verizon/Encore, warts and all. Plus, don’t want to drive to Alpharetta for anything but work – I don’t go that way on the weekends!

oh yeah and he likes Doctor Who too..that was my fault.

There ain’t nuttin’ wrong with some culture.

You should see the look on people’s faces when I start quoting..Monty Python. “A Fish Called Wanda” is a great movie.

One of our daytrips to NYC was to see Spamalot.

I dislike Pop Idol (London’s American Idol) as much as I dislike American Idol.

I cried about my book being stolen.

Ceemeeli, I wanted to cry too.

The thing is, it got stolen out of my dorm room. Like, I didn’t go to high school with anyone in my dorm except this kid who lived on like the 5th floor (I was on the 3rd). So what would the point be in stealing it?

Maybe someone used it to roll their blunt on it and then just tossed it somewhere once they were done.

In any case, I’d love to get that book back.

LIONESS I think my first @ Chastain was Maxwell, which was incredible. I’ll never forget that since I only got to go cuz it was the same week as 9/11 and I was supposed to go home, but they cancelled all the flights. Hope when his new stuff is released he’ll come back thru.

You can re-order high school yearbooks. Chances are, someone from your class has already digitized it and put it on a DVD. Check out some of the reunion sites like classmates.com, do some digging around.

Me, I don’t keep anything like that! No yearbooks, scrapbooks, photo albums, nothing. I travel light and I don’t see any reason to haul a bunch of memories around. Chances are, if I were to meet up with high school friends today, I’d wonder what ever made me become friends with them in the first place! Some things are better left in the past. Live for today, anyway. Look to the future, the past is already gone.

I’ve been to Windsor, Ontario…it is just across from Detroit, MI. Grown folk place.

My wife is from Upstate NY, and Montreal was about a 2 hour drive.

I haven’t been to Vancouver, but have been close (Alaskan Cruise)

abc,

It would be nice to have another yearbook, but what I want is the one that had all the signatures from my classmates. I’m into keeping that kind of stuff. You say nice things to people you don’t think you’ll ever see again.

My mom still has her yearbooks and I love going thru them and reading what people wrote to her.

I agree. That is why I am a Facebook holdout. I’ve kept in touch with people that I wanted to. I know how to skip trace so I didn’t need no stinkin’ Facebook to find people.

abc – Do what works for you. Some people are sentimental and have good memories to fall back on. Doesn’t mean they are not looking to the future too.

Amred/Cee – It hurts losing something like that that cannot be replaced or reproduced. To have someone steal it is beyond comprehension. My boss went to NC State & played football there. He lost all his NC State memorabilia in a fire. I used to wear my late mother’s high school ring and diamond stud earrings all the time. Lost them somewhere last summer on my trip to Cali. It hurts thinking about them.

I was a Facebook hold out too. Then I joined and realized it really isn’t that dang serious. You find some people you had forgotten and some folks who should stay forgotten. Either way, it is what you make of it and it’s really not all that serious. Some folks I thought were pricks in school turned out to be great people and I’m glad I had a chance to reconnect.

I’m glad I rarely ever run into folks from high school and I will even admit that the few times that I did, I’d actually play it off as if I did not see them…even if I were standing right next to them….lol (I really don’t know what it is or for what reason)…but although I’d consider myself somewhat friendly, I’m not that sociable. But there are a few childhood (elem school buddies) that I would not mind running into. Don’t do facebook, myspace, etc either, well…not for my own personal use. Lol However, I may search it for the heck of it or if I get “that call” from a relative/friend to check this fool out…other than that, I see it as another way for gov’t or folks in general to keep track of me somehow.

If ever the time comes that I truly WANT to be found, I’ll go that route… (though, I doubt I’ll ever take that path myself).

kimmie, I’m a little bit sentimental myself, actually. One reminisces about happy times in the past, and the time and distance elapsed makes it plain that it’s gone, it’s past, ain’t no goin back. That photo of a special person from the past, that home movie of your child when they were 4 and loved you for real, idolized you as their hero, Ah, Bittersweet! If only we could revisit that one happiest day, just for that day, just the afternoon, for an hour, even.

Rose colored glasses, I say. What we could get of value from those past experiences we still carry with us. Why carry around a bunch of memorabilia that only invokes the bittersweet mood? Even the happiest memories are bittersweet, because those times are gone.

I’m going to the Verizon Theater for the EW&F and Chicago concert.

Cee – Yeah, I guess cause those are the funniest memories! Party school reputation aside, UGA was no joke though! Some of those classes & exam experiences produced tears! Me & my buddy that came to visit last week had some good laughs about some classes though. We had a finance class together and had stayed up all night for the final and took No Doz for the first time. I felt like I was on speed – my hands were shaking as I took the exam. It seemed to have the reverse effect on her though. The exam was at 9 the next morning and she left my dorm at about 6 to go back to her room. 9, then 10 am passed and she had not shown up for the exam! Finally about 30 minutes before ending time she races in the classroom with her hair sticking up like she stuck her hand in a socket! The instructor was a ***hole and it took some convincing, but he let her take the exam and have the full 2 hours. We were cracking up about that though!
