That’s not my name

Today’s post is courtesy of “Brian”, a 29 year old man from Smyrna. Brian wanted to offer his perspective  after a recent experience he had with a young lady he was seeing:

I have been going out with someone for a couple of months. A couple of weeks ago, when we were in the heat of the moment, she said someone else’s name. I think it was her ex-boyfriend or something. I didn’t say anything about it at the time but it is making me question if they are still seeing each other. Even if they are not in contact, he is obviously in her thoughts. It was probably an honest mistake but it has never happened to me before.

Wow, Brian, that’s quite the conundrum! I can’t say that has happened to me before. I don’t think it has, anyway. Ladies, have you ever made this mistake? Did you own up to it or ignore it? Do you think Brian should bring it up even though it didn’t just happen? What would you do if you were with a guy and he called you another name by mistake?

Guys, how would you handle it? Have you ever used the wrong name with someone you were seeing? What happened? Did the lady completely flip out about it?

Do you think it means anything when someone you are seeing brings up the name of their last significant other/partner? How many mentions are too many? Are you more understanding if the person was with their ex for a long time?

Happy Thursday

Kimmie, chastain is one romantic spot. You could damn near take a sworn enemy and have a great time. Did you pack a meal and candles? I saw Jonathan Butler there and he was perfect for that spot. Dam, now I miss Atlanta again.

Art,(gathering money now for art camp this summer)Science, (we must watch Mythbusters every Wednesday) and lawd help me but I promised him that this year…. this year I would take him to DragonCon. Abc, religion has never been a deciding factor for me when dating. Whether she goes to church or not, it’s no big deal. Now if she worships the devil, then we got problems. LOL!!!

@DJ- I factor in religion when dating..but that’s not the point of this post…but lol@ if she worships the devil there will be problems. I dated a girl once then I went to her house and we were chilling getting into what we are doing..then we ended up on the floor and while her face is down and im looking around..she has all of these weird as chants wriiten along the baseboards of her bed room…from a far it just looked like some sort of tribal design..but upon closer inspection it turned out to be some weird stuff. I said a quick prayer to myself , finished what we were doing and never came back…lol Practicing Wicca or worshiping Satan is a definite deal breaker..

Melo, let me clarify: I met my wife at House nightclub, not my mother-in-law thank u for that..u redeemed.Waz begining to wonder if u asked for mum-in law in dance there and felt her booty too as u jived wit her.Blasphemy!!
Like i have observed, evry time a guy is asking a gerl for a dance at the club, hes is trying to sumulate the horizontal tango. An expression of desire.
No wonder guys come up real close, shake their croacth real close to the woman’s v-jay and if the women bites and smiles, its a wrap.
Next thing, the 2 are at the bar, convo is now flowing coz the woman likes the strong bolt of current she felt.

My first time attending a concert at Chastain blew me away. I don’t even remember who I saw, but I remember everyone flicking their lighters and the food on some of the attendees tables. I thought that was so pretty.

@Kym, it’s very rare for me to say the word “boo”. About four years ago, this guy asked me what he meant to me. I told him he was my “good boo.” He said WTH does that mean. I told him he was a good friend of mine. He said never to say that again. So, perhaps there’s some merit to whatcha say about being too old to say certain things.

Sister Cee – I put them in a memory book or box with memorabilia. I did volunteer work with the Olympics, so of course I have all the stuff associated with that, including my Olympic pins in a shadow box. I have a scrapbook from UGA that is choke full, as well as a great high school memory book. I have ticket stubs from cool concerts. I also still have my apron from when I worked at Home Deport Corporate.

Your stuff does not have to have a purpose except to recall great memories! Just be sure to have a nice place to store & display it and you are good.

My first concert at Chastain was Boyz II Men last summer. My dad was in radio growing up, so I got to go to cool concerts all the time. I had forgotten how fabulous and fun they were. I lost my dang mind during that concert and ended up on stage.

It was nice to bring the food and beverages in.

Lioness – They have all kinds of concerts there, but I am partial to the jazz & R&B acts. The Atlanta Symphony backs some artists up that play there too. They back Jill Scott last summer and it was incredible. I’ve seen Seal there twice – he has a strong voice and sounded better than the cd. Boney James was wonderful there too.

Saw Franky Beverly & Mase there too. Pot was in the air!

The thing about Chastain is, nobody really goes there to see and listen to the acts, they go there to see and be seen themselves. It’s so noisy, it can get difficult to even hear the concert. I gave up going there years ago! Great acts keep playing there in spite of the audience all but ignoring them, because it’s at least a moderately good payday for them.

“That’s not my name.”

Kimmie – I purchase scrap and memory books over the years, but never make it to get “scrapping”. I’m sad, I have memorabilia all over the place. But i have not had a good memory book since High School. And most of my high school memry book was my Dance Team pictures, and football game ticket stubs…and that book was stolen…yes, i said stolen. Why would anyone wanna steal someone else’s memory book? Beats me.

1996 Atlanat Olympics was a blast! Working at Lenox Mall was the best spot to be in a/c allday and meet some of the electives. After work on the train i heard so many traveling stories for ppl around the world.

It was a good time for this city.

Poppa – The Georgia Theater in Athens used to be the Caraf & Draft/Dollar Movie. Kinda like Backlot here, but not as nice & plush! They played movies that had been out awhile or old movies for $1 and you could get pitchers of beer, nachos and other movie fare. Great outing for broke UGA students. Used to love it!

Yes, Cee, 1996 was great. The Special Olympics bicycling event went right past my apartment complex (7:30 am). We all got up with our lawn chairs (pjs still on) and lined the streets. My child was too and she was cranky for me waking her up. I remember it well!

The last concert that I saw at Chastain was Nina Simone …talk about setting a mood.

Truth

That sounds cool. I was there with a group and the trip (it was like a 3 week trip) also included Greece. I gained a new appreciation of lamb chops, leg of lamb, etc over there. They knew how to do it up right.
We hit the usual trendy tourist spots there, too. But, it was still better than just reading about it.

The only other bottle of cologne I have is Hanna Mori. A good friend of mine bought it for me a few years ago, but she passed away, so I keep the bottle for sentimental reasons and only wear it once in a while.
