That’s not my name

Today’s post is courtesy of “Brian”, a 29 year old man from Smyrna. Brian wanted to offer his perspective  after a recent experience he had with a young lady he was seeing:

I have been going out with someone for a couple of months. A couple of weeks ago, when we were in the heat of the moment, she said someone else’s name. I think it was her ex-boyfriend or something. I didn’t say anything about it at the time but it is making me question if they are still seeing each other. Even if they are not in contact, he is obviously in her thoughts. It was probably an honest mistake but it has never happened to me before.

Wow, Brian, that’s quite the conundrum! I can’t say that has happened to me before. I don’t think it has, anyway. Ladies, have you ever made this mistake? Did you own up to it or ignore it? Do you think Brian should bring it up even though it didn’t just happen? What would you do if you were with a guy and he called you another name by mistake?

Guys, how would you handle it? Have you ever used the wrong name with someone you were seeing? What happened? Did the lady completely flip out about it?

Do you think it means anything when someone you are seeing brings up the name of their last significant other/partner? How many mentions are too many? Are you more understanding if the person was with their ex for a long time?

Happy Thursday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, QC. HOPE YOU HAVE A HELLUVA RIDE TODAY (meaning hope it’s a special day filled w/lots of excitement

C tha 1 is in the house…hello babe!

@Atlwen, you’re right, just an honest mistake. Had to laugh at almost knocking your teeth out. That was funny!

@W8 – yes we women go through our own drougts and we have said for many moons “it’s feast or famine.”

@Sybil, you are too funny

@Beautiful, just stop it. No one is going to bite that dangling carrot. Why, cuz they don’t give a damn!

@W8 – why did I say it twice? Million dollar question. I’ve looked back on that night many times. I can see us there and the moment it happened, and all I can say is right then and there I was nervous and said the first name that came to mind. Although I hoped it would have been his, it wasn’t! However, glad it wasn’t my mama’s!

@ARed, I too usually call on my maker’s name…that and awwww shyt!

Question to all answering…

Is during the hot moments the only time you all would be upset at being called the wrong name?

The only time I said the wrong name it was not during any type of sexual activity. So I am just wondering it that the only time you all would get upset.

LOL Tazzee. Yeah uttering the given name helps to know he is not fantasizing about anyone else during the deed, eh???

But seriously feel you on that because for me it makes it more personal during that moment. He is acknowledging the one he is with contribution to the whole standing O-vation. It is hot.

@W8 – that was a funny read. You just remember getting up off the fireplace. Thanks for my first outburst of laughter. Now, you sending all these pics to the WLBs, where’s mine…sharmyn.kelliehan@opc.com!

@Raqi, I would be pissed if called the wrong name during the moment. Any other time wouldn’t bother me because I call people different names quite a bit. However, in the bedroom you “want to believe” that you’re the focal point down from the root of your hair to your polished toenail. To think that he called someone else’s name is blasphemous at that moment. And, that is why I understood the pluck to my forehead.

No. The big shopping spree hasn’t taken place. She has done a lot of practice runs, though…lol.

She wanted a gown for the balls that we attended. Of couse, accessories soon followed.

There are plenty of flights to NYC every day out of ATL. We’ve done that daytrip thing many a time. There was a time that Delta Airlines had a flight to LGA (Laguardia) every hour. I don’t think that they do one every hour but they have plenty of flights to NYC. We’ve done plays, shopping sprees, etc. up there before.

@Raqi- I am not to be called another persons name ever no matter the situation and yeah that was the first and last time I did that..but I was the bad child out of all of them..so getting my azz whooped on the regular by dad was not unusual..lol

PoppaG – Happy Anniversary! May you have many, many more.

Raqi – If we’re in a serious relationship, being called the wrong name would rub me the wrong way regardless of the situation. Well, being called an ex’s name. If he called me his kid’s name or something like that – I’d let it pass with a little ribbing in a joking way. But an ex’s name – I don’t care if it’s in the heat of the moment, during an argument, or while he’s washing the car – I’ve got an issue.

I like to call guys Mr. so-and-so at times so I called Mark W. and Warren W. ‘Mr. W.’ but calling Marcus, Mr. W was a no go. Although his last name began with W….I used the full name.

Shoot I got too many things in my brain to have to remember who I’m talking to at a given time…one man at a time for me.

I saw Ciara in concert about two years ago when I took my niece. I forget the name of the concert, but Ciara and T.I. were the headliners. Needless to say Ciara was not good…T.I. T.Pain was excellent, but Ciara needed more stage presences and her sound was horrible.

I just might try to make it to Chastain to see Jay-Z
