First Lunch with Luckovich: Have your say

From 1-2 p.m today, I’m answering questions or taking your comments on this blog.

I don’t have any topics for today’s cartoons yet, so if you can think of any let me know.

This cartoon on Bishop Eddie Long got the most hits this month. Someone tweeted me that there are plenty of other topics out there so lay off Eddie Long. What do you think?

Why is it so difficult for you to come up with any material critical of Obama? You didn’t seem to have any problem attacking the President from 2001-2008..

How are you able to capture a story, moment, etc., with just one picture? Does a drawing take you hours, minutes, etc?

btw, dude you do good work. I always look forward to your cartoons. It’s, sometimes, the only thing that makes sense on this site.

I realize you are an editorial cartoonist, but I agree with Woodstock Bob. A majority of Georgia is conservative… you should swallow your pride and do some cartoons criticizing Obama more often.

The majority of the country doesn’t think Obama is doing a good job either. Higher employment, less jobs, more government wasn’t the Change everyone was Hoping for…

Why don’t you have comments active on your regular posts? Many other editorialists have active blogs, and I’d love to hear comments from all sides on your work as well.
Otherwise, Do you refer to your work as “cartoons” “pictures”, “artwork” or some other personal identifier?

And don’t forget that the majority of America was against the Health Care Plan…

A majority of Americans even want to repeal it at this point. Doesn’t seem to me like Obama is doing a good job at all.

i’ve always drawn. that’s the key lots of practice. tell your son to keep drawing! in elementary school, my dad was transferred a lot, dso the 1st thing i’d do at a new school is caricature the teacher and then pass the drawing around. then i’d have 30 new friends.

Your drawings are top notch (if people say that anymore). I love the controversy that they stir up, but isn’t that what political cartoons are all about? My all time faves are the memorials to Lewis Grizzard and Skip Caray and also the Statue of Liberty 9/11 one. I miss Grizzard and Celestine Sibley but you and John Kessler are the reasons I still love the AJC! ;o) Thanks and don’t go anywhere!

From MSNBC: A new AP poll finds that Americans who think the law should have done more outnumber those who think the government should stay out of health care by 2-to-1.

The poll found that about four in 10 adults think the new law did not go far enough to change the health care system, regardless of whether they support the law, oppose it or remain neutral.

Toward the end of Bush’s term Tom Toles was drawing a caricature of Bush very similar to yours (short with the big ears). I like his stuff but do you think he took some notes from you?

Hey Mike,

While you are definitely way left of center, even the most fanatical right winger has to admit that Republican politicians give so much more fodder for humor. It’s so bad that it’s almost like hunting in a baited field.

Years ago I wouldn’t read your stuff because it was too “slanted.” But then I pulled my head out of my rear and saw the truth I stated above (which you apparently knew all along). To be honest, you HAVE to laugh to keep from crying at some of the stupidity. I now enjoy 98% of your work regardless of who you expose. Of course as neither a democrat nor a republican, it’s easier to see the stupidity of both parties and get double the laughs now.

Keep up the good work and once again with today’s cartoon, you nailed it.

Mike-

Seriously? When will Obama take responsibility for the economy? It’s gotten worse thanks to his policies. Most of his advisors are jumping ship. Give us a break.

And your comment about health care is exactly what is wrong with Democrat thinking. Everyone acknowledges that there are some good things in the plan that will benefit us. But that doesn’t matter. The people didn’t want it. So the gov’t shoved it down our throats. Do you really want a gov’t that goes against what the people want? Cmon man.

Rewrite the healthcare plan with a few of the good things people like and don’t make it so expensive that we go bankrupt. Obama doubled Bush’s debt in 18 months.
