Will we see these two teams go at it again this December? Maybe. (AJC photo by Curtis Compton)

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – On the morning after securing his fourth BCS championship ring, Nick Saban was asked what he does with his BCS championship rings. Does he wear them all at once? Rotate them by month, by week, by day?

Said Saban: “I just put ‘em on the coffee table for recruits to look at.”

This drew a huge laugh — such a kidder, that Nick! — but it does underscore the problem facing the rest of college football. Success on the field begets success in recruiting, which begets even bigger success on the field, which is how one team in a cutthroat conference has come to claim consecutive BCS titles and three of the past four.

And Alabama now has bigger fish to fry. Only three programs — Notre Dame in the late ’40s, Nebraska in the ’90s and Saban’s Alabama — have taken three (legitimate) national championships in four seasons. No school has ever won three in a row, or four in five seasons. But who’s apt to derail this Bama locomotive?

After his Crimson Tide crushed Notre Dame 42-14 on Monday night, Saban spoke of how difficult this latest journey had been. “We got here by five yards. Georgia was five yards away from scoring (in the SEC Championship game). So it’s a pretty tough league that we play in, and we’re going to have to continue to try to improve as a program to have an opportunity to win the SEC Championship or the national championship ever again because of the competition in our league.”

Then this: “Look, we’re really happy, we’re really pleased, we’re really proud of what we have to do here. We’re going to enjoy it for 24 hours.”

And then back to work. For Alabama, the next game will come Aug. 31 against Virginia Tech in the Georgia Dome. The Tide will enter the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game ranked No. 1, perhaps by unanimous vote. But what teams will be in closest — not to say truly close — pursuit? An early look at the 2013 Top 25.

1. Alabama. Duh.

2. Ohio State. Urban Meyer is the only active coach with even half as many BCS titles as Saban, and the Urbanator just went undefeated in Year 1 at his latest stop. It’s intriguing that Meyer has had two unbeaten seasons, neither at Florida. This tells us what we already knew: He can coach a little, too. And in Braxton Miller, Meyer may have his next Heisman winner. (His first was a guy named Tebow.)

3. Oregon. The most stunning development of the month wasn’t Florida losing the Sugar Bowl to Louisville but Chip Kelly apparently choosing to stay in Eugene. For months his departure to the NFL had been seen as a fait accompli, but he hasn’t gone anywhere yet. Assuming he doesn’t, the offensive onslaught will continue. (Provided the NCAA doesn’t intervene.) Think of sophomore-to-be quarterback Marcus Mariota as the Johnny Football of the Far West.

4. Texas A&M. No team — not even Alabama, which lost at home to the Aggies — was playing better at season’s end, but some remain skeptical. Is Johnny Manziel really that good? Will Johnny Football be the same without left tackle Luke Joeckel, who’s leaving for the NFL? Will the raging Aggies offense rage on without coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, gone to Texas Tech as head coach? Will flavor-of-the-month A&M be the same the second time around the SEC.

5. Georgia. The Bulldogs could play them themselves out of the Top 25 by the end of September — or they could stamp themselves as the biggest threat to Alabama. They open at Clemson, and then they play host to South Carolina and LSU in two of their next three games. The Bulldogs’ defense will be radically reconstituted, but with Aaron Murray’s decision to stay in school the offense should be even better.

6. Clemson. The road to ruin has been paved with rosy forecasts for the orange Tigers, but the Clemson that beat LSU in the Chick-fil-A Bowl really did seem more forceful. (Skill was never an issue.) The runner Andre Ellington departs, but quarterback Tajh Boyd and bookend receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins return. And Clemson is finally starting to play a little D.

7. Notre Dame. In the aftermath of Monday’s thrashing, SEC zealots were heard to wonder if Notre Dame would even finish in the top half of the only league that matters. Wrong question. The right question: Could any college team have held up against Alabama playing at its absolute zenith? (Answer: No.) Forget 42-14. Do not underestimate the capacity of a famous program that has, after many false starts, gotten it going again. Do not underestimate the recruiting pull of the Fighting Irish.

8. Stanford. Remember when USC was supposed to reclaim the Pac-12 for Troy? That lasted only until the Trojans ran across Stanford, which has weathered the recent losses of coach Jim Harbaugh and quarterback Andrew Luck to remain robust. In David Shaw, the Cardinal has its new Harbaugh; in Kevin Hogan, it has its new Luck. Coming off its first Rose Bowl victory in 40 years, Stanford eyes even bigger prizes.

9. South Carolina. Jadeveon Clowney might or might not win the 2013 Heisman Trophy, but barring injury he’ll be the nation’s best player. Steve Spurrier has proved he can win without the great back Marcus Lattimore, gone from Columbia after a second knee injury, and the Gamecocks stunned Clemson in Death Valley without injured quarterback Connor Shaw. But in 2013 Carolina will play Georgia in Athens, and the Bulldogs are past due in that game.

10. Florida. The bloom came off a return-to-glory season in that Sugar Bowl — even Gators fan Chipper Jones Tweeted his displeasure — and now Florida faces tough questions. Can its pedestrian offense, ranked 103rd among 120 FBS teams, improve enough to play for championships? This is no trifling matter, given that the Gators’ defense is losing seven starters. And, in case you missed it, the Georgia alum Will Muschamp has yet to beat his alma mater.

And the rest: 11. Louisville. 12. Florida State. 13. Boise State. 14. Oklahoma. 15. TCU. 16. Vanderbilt. 17. LSU. 18. Northern Illinois. 19. Oregon State. 20. Kansas State. 21. Oklahoma State. 22. Miami. 23. Georgia Tech. 24. Nebraska. 25. UCLA.

The SEC is going to be a Monster in 2013. Yeah, Probation Bound Oregon is a threat due to their lack of competition outside of Stanford( USC will be luck to win 6 games in 2013) but outside of the weak scheduling of the ACC’s Florida St( who will be better with Winston at QB) and your token Texas, Oklahoma group there just is not much competition to the SEC level of play.

You could take Alabama, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia( if they play defense), Vanderbilt( yes Vanderbilt) Ole Miss( much better especially if ( Kim-Dee-Chee brothers play together) and LSU( depending on how many more bolt to the NFL- the number is in the teens by now) put them all in a bag and anyone could beat anyone and still be better than Practically Everyone Else in the country in a bowl game.

Most of these SEC teams on your list will lose a lot of talent to the NFL. Bama, UGA, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, S.Carolina – all losing to NFL. Ohio State plays a Notre Dame type schedule – over hyped & over rated. Notre Dame would be next to last in the SEC East or West. Oregon is for real but not enough defense to win the BCS. Looks like Bama has the most coming back on defense so I will give them the edge. They should be better on defense but there will be a drop off on the offense.

For Dawgs, it will all come down to stopping someone and getting them off the field. There was something not quite right about that Dawg D all year. Worlds of talent, but really gave up the yards. Lot’s of folks saying how much worse can we be……I wouldn’t go there. Grantham did little this year to bring that group together……and if you ask some, it was Shawn Williams calling them out. Very well could be 1-3 early unless we just outscore everyone.

I know Alabama will lose Fluker, Lacey as underclassmen, but trust me when I say I know the group ready to step in are going to be outstanding and Alabama will be much stronger in 2013 if they stay focused and hungry which is very very hard to do with teenagers and young men.

Florida is the one who I think will be hurt by the departures, those guys leaving them were the heart and soul of The Gators defense.

LSU is the one who is going to be hurting,,,they are losing a ton of guys and the rats seem to be jumping the ship very fast down there. Have you seen their list of guys leaving? Unheard of the number of guys who are not even in the top 4 rounds of draft. Going to get interesting for them.

To early to predict – after the draft and signing day will be the time for predictions. Laremy Tunsil, Tyrone Crowder, Kublinow & company added to the returning OL would put UGA on a higher level on offense than any other team in the country. Special teams will be solid. Defense will be a work in progress with the most difficult 1st half schedule in the country…. starting with Clemson, S.C. and LSU. Do not underestimate the loss of Marlon Brown and Tavarres King….. both will be in the NFL.

Same guy said Ole Miss could beat anyone in the country outside the SEC. Texas must be from another planet then, because all they did was beat Ole Miss 66-31 in Oxford.

The SEC is easily the best conference but the delusion of some homers is amazing.

If the defense under performed most of this year, were they really under performing? And if they were not underperforming, why can’t we put just as good a team on the field next year? My take on all of this is the defense had too many “stars” who thought they didn’t have to work for it. Thought they just had to show up. How many “stars” do you see on the Alabama defense?

What the heck does it matter? I don’t think Texas A&M or UGA wanted to hang a “2012 We are #2″ banner. The BCS uses the polls to match up the 2 top ranked teams and the winner is automatically #1.

Bleachers – YES I know Bama is three deep with talent…… if Fluker goes they will only have ONE returning starter on the OL. Thing about OL is that experience counts and all of these guys leaving on Bama’s OL had multiple years starting. LSU’s offense hasn’t been good in a while and now they are losing their DL and have a QB that I have little confidence in. Florida will take a step or two back on defense but the offense has to be better – doesn’t it? Not sure S.C. should be ranked so high as they are losing talent also and their heart and soul, Lattimore, is gone. Texas A&M will probably lose at least three starting OL to the NFL. I see UGA winning the east again and Bama or Texas A&M the west. Still waiting to see what UGA’s NT Geathers is going to do – return or early to the NFL. That will be a key to the defense.

Not buying the argument that Notre Dame is any where as good as its national, big sports media hype machine thinks that it is, or that they just happened to run into Bama in full, blooming juggernaut mode. These guys were over rated all year, and ranking them over Stanford, South Carolina, and Florida (yes, even bowl game sleep walking Florida) next year is also way too generous.

Of course, they would have deserved their number one ranking if teams were ranked based on luck –no ranked team had better dumb luck in 2012 than the Irish. Yes, the legendary Irish of yore, the luck of the Irish, Knute, the Gipper, touchdown Jesus, opposing teams missing easy field goals and losing, paper thin winning scores, etc.

But unfortunately, all the big sports media hype and America’s eager embrace of the Fightin’ Irish come back to life (plus the miguided hope that here is a team that can knock the hated SEC off of its perch) resulted in them and lots of folks drinking the cool aid of self-deceit and bitter disappointment after facing a team like Bama.

It is a sad joke that the hugely over rated Notre Dame did not fall to a more correct final ranking this year in the 9, 10, or 11 range. Look at how A&M and Georgia played the Tide. How could Notre Dame possibly have been ranked higher than them? Even Oregon (who lost to Stanford and always finds a way to lose at the end of the season) should not be above them. But he national hype machine loves the legend and there is bias a plenty, and so, incredibly, Notre Dame is ranked above A&M and Georgia after getting run out of the stadium and then run out of town last night. But, of course, college football political correctness would not tolerate three SEC teams in final top 5.

And their big defense player, their Heisman candidate, Manti T’eo, was obviously the most over rated player on the field along with lots of other over rated players including their quarterback. Would he even start at Bama, Georgia, A&M? No. Notre Dame finally met a great team, one that not even their number one ranking in luck could help them defeat.

I don’t have a real issue with Notre Dame being ranked ahead of Texas A&M and Georgia. Notre Dame lost one game. A&M and Georgia lost two.

UGA’s offense was BCS champ caliber – the defense needs to learn how to adjust to a double team in the trenches. Most over rated player and most over hyped – Notre Dames middle LB. Notre Dame was about #15 and yet they were given #3 in the BCS poll – wishful thinking and unwilling to say you were wrong is no good reason to have Notre Dame in the top #10. Ohio State is another Notre Dame – over rated schedule – over hyped – over rated. Maybe they should be #14 – right ahead of Notre Dame.

I have no problem with South Carolina being ranked ahead of Georgia. but the two loss, one loss thing is a big stretch. Texas A&M beat Bama and Georgia was only five yards away from beating Bama. if you are only going to judge on the one loss, two loss aspect you are penalizing those two teams from playing a tougher schedule that ND did.

To anyone who was actually paying attention to the game last night Notre Dame has absolutely no business being mentioned in the same breath as the top teams in the country. They are a complete fraud. Maybe Bama was playing at its “zenith” because they were playing a total fraud instead of a real football team like UGA, A&M or LSU. How unstoppable did they look in those games? Did this ever once occur to you media geniuses? For the life of me I do not understand why the media continues to insist on hyping this total fraud of a football program. Forget 42-14? Why should we forget it? We UGA fans are reminded on a near daily basis about what Bama did to us, but we should all just forget the complete thrashing they gave to Notre Dame? Move along folks. Under the Bleachers, I like your top 10 better than Mark’s; dropping Clemson and Notre Dame seems about right to me. Clemson doesn’t have near enough athletes on defense to be a factor; the only reason they beat LSU was abysmal play-calling by the Tigers.

Hey, Mark, I thought the top 25 poll is supposed to be a “ranking,” which presumably means voters think ND would beat the teams ranked behind them if they were to play on a neutral field. So, do those voters (or you) really think the Irish would beat UGA, A&M, LSU, etc.? I think not. Notre Dame happens only to have one loss because of a weak schedule, and should not even be in the top 10.

There is absolutely nothing spectacular or fearsome about Notre Dame. All of those teams in that Top 10 bring something to the table that keep opposing coaches up at night, except Notre Dame. Some of those teams in that top 10 have great offenses. Some of them have great defenses. Some of them have both. What does Notre Dame bring to the table, a director’s cut of “Rudy?” How does that saying go? They are good at everything, but great at nothing.

The media is already trying to cover up and downplay 42-14. Just forget it Bradley says. Move along folks. Nothing to see here. The only problem is that if Notre Dame is ever going actually earn the respect bestowed upon them they’re going to have to beat teams like Bama, UGA, LSU, Oregon, etc. That goes for everybody. UGA has some proving to do too after getting blasted by South Carolina and losing the SECCG. Nobody is telling everyone to just forget about that. Notre Dame shouldn’t get a free pass because Knute Rockne gave some great speech 220 years ago.

Saban is way overrated. Until he goes to a team/school/nfl franchise that has no history of winning, he hasn’t proven anything. Winning in football at Bama is like winning in basketball at Duke or Kentucky. If you’re a medicore coach, the program will sell itself. Spurrier is a much more accomplished coach. He has taken two programs that had no history of winning, and moved them into elite status. The Gators and Cocks used to be annually medicore. Now look at where they are. Even when RON ZOOK was at UF he had great recruiting classes. Why do you think that was? A guy named Spurrier had built a reputation there. Watch when Spurrier leaves South Carolina. They will still be relevant, and a great program. Saban has won his championships, but they were at schools that had a history of success and winning, which proves nothing about him as far as his greatness. Bear Bryant was a great coach. Steve Spurrier is a great coach.

Nick sent Notre Dame a big message…took Bama to South Beach and put them up at the Fontainebleau while Elite Notre Dame stayed at the Motel 6 up the road. Ohio St is also over rated and they will also be exposed next year by an SEC team! If Bob Stoops does not find someone to coach offensive football – and Muschamp, too – I don’t see either of them lasting another two seasons at Florida and Oklahoma. And Tech’s future will depend on the DC hire – if not good, it doesn’t matter how many points they score. Personnally, I see another UGA start like the Boise State start in the dome – after that early round with Clemson, LSU and USC, Mark will be on the hot seat again.

__________________________________

K-JO and Steen return as well as a center who truly is a better center than Jones( not lineman but center) K-Jo’s older brother will play beside him at Guard and the Tackle postion is deep deep and will be adding two JC players who were 4 star players out of high school.

LSU is still deep on Offense, and their line should be back in form for 2013, their qb who you know better than I will need to pick up his game or it will be a very long year for LSU. Their running backs are very very good big backs. The Defense is going to be an issue with all those Juniors hitting the gate to the NFL, but their talent level is still one of the best in the league.

UGA will need a few weeks to get their defense in order, but their offense will have to slow down in scoring so fast( to keep their defense off the field) and control the ball better or UGA may have to score 50 points a game ( which they probably can) in order to win those big games. By the time LSU comes to town UGA should have a handle on their defense and you and I both know that the line of scrimmage is where those big games are won and lost.

Florida is the one who I just do not see going 1 loss again in the regular season, they will have to find a qb who can throw and a running back with some real power and speed.

Good Luck to you.

Ya know I’ve never really gave a rat’s ass about rankings, being an athlete I know they don’t really mean much cause ya have to play the games. But after the beat down that ND took last night how in the freak can anyone have the nerve to put them in the top 5 and above A&M who beat Bama and above UGA who was one play and 5 yards away from beating BAMA! These voters either have short term memory loss problems or are just straight delusional.

Note to voters: When voting for the top 25 at the beginning of next season, remember what happened to ND before you jump on the Ohio State bandwagon. Yea they may win out and make it to the NC game but it will be another blowout by a real football team coming out of the SEC! Actually I see Cal upsetting Ohio St and if not Cal then Michigan will screw up their dreams! Haha just looked at Ohio St schedule next season, WOW what a joke of a schedule! They should run the table but I guarantee ya they choke against either Cal, Penn St or Michigan…

Bama reloads on their O line and both of their fate and A&M’s fate will be determined on Sept 14th. Oregon will be a monster on O and will more then likely run the table, but ya never know what may happen in the PAC 12 between Oregon, Stanford, Oregon St, USC and Cal, any given weekend any of those teams may beat the other but I doubt the Ducks lose a game next year. UGA will have the best O in the Nation and if we get past Clemson and SC then we could run the table, LSU is going to be good but I put NO faith in Ole Metz, I have NO idea what the Gators are up to and nor do I care.

Losing 3 great lineman is always difficult to replace. But I think our center Barrett Jones was probably the most overrated Outland Trophy winner I’ve ever seen. He routinely got beat and driven into the backfield. It even happened once or twice against ND last night. Losing Warmack is the biggest blow since he just dominated people. Same with Fluker who has not yet announced. Of the 2 left though Steen will be a 3 year starter and he is a projected 2nd round NFL pick. Kuandijo was the #2 recruit in the country coming out of high school and will be as dominating as Warmack or Fluker. There will be a drop off from losing Fluker and Warmack for sure but not a huge dropoff.

I just do not think Oregon is in the class of the SEC and thus should not be ranked as high as they finished the year and for sure not into next year. Yes they play fast…for other conferences but not for the SEC. They just do not have the size on the lines and they do not play against the pro style defenses that most SEC teams employ.

Same goes for Notre Dame

Ohio State appears to be built in the SEC style and Urban Meyer is a decent coach so I think they could do very well.

Honestly, worrying about these rankings is pointless. I agree the SEC has dominated – but to say “clearly 6-8 SEC teams would DOMINATE ND” is overreacting. I dont think Florida will be top 10 material losing all those defenders. Not unless their offense gets going. Unlike UGA, UF’s D was a huge reason they got as far as they did. UGA wont miss the lost defenders as much because they really didnt get that good of production this year.

Bama is going to be hurting next year if Lacy goes. Lets face it, that offensive line was the reason they beat UGA and won this title. They will lose most of it as well. They will be preseason #1, but dont be shocked if A&M wins the West. It could easily be UGA vs A&M for the SEC title and a trip to the NC. Of course, the SEC always has surprises in store. Arkansas, Auburn and UT might all improve under new coaches. Ole Miss and Vandy may continue their momentum.

That’s why Mark has them ranked in Northern Illinois’ spot.

“Saban is way overrated. Until he goes to a team/school/nfl franchise that has no history of winning, he hasn’t proven anything.”

He won a mythical NC at LSU. Their previous one was in 1958, a team that had Paul Dietzel as coach and Billy Cannon in the backfield.

The bigots from the south why all the hate against ND ? Is it because they finish with in the top 3 grad rates every year? Who’s fault is that? They don’t have kids flunking out or not getting in because they can’t even read their high school letter jackets.. Is it because they have TV money coming in?
Thanks to ST Vince of Athens for that (also a Catholic) and the original Satan aka Barry Switzer. They did that deal but after Walker left UGA fell back to earth and could not get the deal done because of the SEC. Sooners did not get it done either. Now Texas has a TV deal hate them. Look at the paying bowl buying IRISH fans they support the team. TV ratings are great when they play. Just about every game every year is on TV. When they go to a bowl there aren’t nearly the amount of empty seats as when these SEC teams or ACC teams played in this bowl season. Embarrassing to say the least. So the ND football team would not even play in the SEC championship game probably true but football fans here MONEY is driving the bus. In a perfect world it would not but we don’t live there yet. Learn the game off the field and stop whining. ….
.PS to the dopes who forgot ND beat Stanford who beat Oregon thats why the DUCKS were’t playing for the title The IRISH record and that win gives them respect just not the title. ..The Ducks/K State don’t go around the country playing teams that are usually winners ! MICHIGAN, MICHIGAN STATE, USC , and Stanford like ND does.So stop with the national media hype crap. UGA and the rest of the SEC quit play those Southern Conferences teams man up and play up ……….

@ Hardaht

You’re obviously a ND fan, and if like most FAN(attic)S, are probably blind to criticism of the team you love.

But, since you asked the question “…why all the hate towards ND?” I’ll bite:

Quite simply, most folks like to watch a football game that is at least competitive.

I had no “Dawg” in the fight last night (pun intended); but agree with most objective fans, the game was a complete bust.

Last night, Notre Dame showed it was not only unworthy of a #1 ranking, and had no business on the same field with Bama— but in all likelihood was not even worthy of a top 5 ranking.

Notre Dame because of it’s popularity and ability to create ca$h flow, has in recent history repeatedly played “up” to bowl games and teams and gained undeserved opportunities more qualified opponents are denied.

Fortunately, a new and hopefully expanding CFB playoff system will save you from future embarrassments like last night; and will make for a more enjoyable and competitive NC game.

Folks dislike ND quite simply for the reasons you stated. They represent $$$ and lots of fans, rather than an elite team.

The ACC will be a good fit for The Irish. And l expect ND to be a full member of the ACC by the end of the decade.

Big Macon Dawg

I and other fans with no dog in the fight, wanting only to see a decent football game last night, just had to endure what looked like The Atlanta Falcons playing a AAA Highschool football team….

And you’re asking “…WHY ALL THE HATE TO ND?”

HIlarious…

As if you guys have never gotten preferential treatment in the post-season before, only to embarrass yourselves when playing an opponent that is truely worthy of being in a quality bowl game.

You will fare better in the ACC, and will become a full member by the end of the decade.

Also, the college football playoff system should hopefully eliminate any future chances you have to embarrass yourselves against another Bama on a national stage.

Time to put up or shut up for Todd Grantham, highest paid asst. coach in UGA history. He wanted to piss and moan about getting some help from Bobo and the offense. Well guess what? He got it. His over hyped/under achieving defense was the final deciding factor on Georgia’s falling short of the goals set for this season. Murray and the offense as a whole did everything it could to make up for the HUGE shortcomings on Grantham’s defensive unit that allowed Bama back in the game after the offense had built a lead on the Bama defense. In my opinion, Bobo, McClendon, Tony Ball, and Will Friend are the coaches earning their keep at Georgia. It’s time for Grantham and his assistants to do the same.

If some of you Bama fans are still in Miami at the stadium then tell Eddie Lacey to stop running and call home.

Memo….Alabama will be a much better football team in 2013. AJ will have a banner year (if he can get ride of his GFriend..she is trouble). Bama has a H-back coming that will prevent all your DC from using the 8 men in the box…that is ovvvvvvvvvver.

The 2012 recruting class signed last Feb will go down as the best class Nick has ever brought to Alabama. Get ready for at leat 5 more years of Roll Tide. Bama will break in the QB for 2014 this year and that is a big Joe Biden. We will have some folks transfer after the spring drills. It is what it is. At least Nick allows the performance of the players to cull the roster instead of the Clarke county jail.

Do I say more, or is that enough to make folks see the obvious, If Oregon is #2, Notre Dame should be 2A ! Now that we’ve dispelled that mythical lie, lets face facts, the SEC has about 37% of the league in the Final TOP 25 POLLS. People that’s over one third of a conference that is the best of the best, Notre Dame, USC, Texas( who declined the SEC’s invitation in) and the Oregons of the CFB World have there place, but on any given night in Sept, Oct, or Nov, do any “Top Tier” team wanna come into ALA, LSU, UGA, SC(East) FLA, now Vandy, and Tex A&M House when it counts? You people that say ND would be next to last if in either SEC conference are high. There are a BUNCH of SEC teams that would have lost to Alabama by 28 the way they played. And, oh by the way, the rest of the conference did VERY well, but note that LSU and FL both lost, and South Carolina got all it could handle from Michigan. The SEC is HANDS DOWN the best conference, but saying that if ND or another program would be next to last is idiotic. And I will qualify that with; MANY, MANY SEC homers, just last year, said the exact same thing about A&M; “they are not ready for the big boy football in SEC” and “they will be lucky to win 2 games” and “they will be last place in the conference”. NOW…SEC fans are all “yay…A&M, the SEC team, is a beast”. Even though they weren’t ready for the physical play of the SEC.

ND took care of their business all year…and weren’t nearly good enough to beat AL. But you don’t get to do the Wizard of Oz thing, “pay no attention to that…that…28 point loss to SC”. The polls, sucky as they are, encompass the body of work for the SEASON, not just because you gave Bama all they could handle. LSU has 9 juniors who have declared for the draft. Of those only Ware, Ford and Wing are not projected for the first 2 rounds. Ware and Ford are behind Hill and Blue on the depth chart and arguably behind Hilliard. Neither one will get enough carries in 2013 to improve their draft stock so they have nothing to gain by staying another season especially considering the short shelf live of running backs in the NFL. Wing is leaving as it’s rumored that his girl friend is pregnant and he doesn’t like attending class anyway.

LSU won’t miss Ware and Ford and they have another capable Australian punter who punted in the bowl game to replace Wing.

The Tigers are losing 6 starters on D. They have talented guys ready to step in. The key, like UGA, is whether these guys can step up.

You make it sound like there is a mass exodus in BR. If the players are disenchanted as you have alluded to, why is LSU currently ranked 4th in recruiting by Rivals?

More concerning for us is if LSU’s offense improves next season.

There seem to be a lot of frustrated UGA fans out there. Alabama is a machine; if they had 30+days to prepare for UGA, I doubt UGA would have been able to compete against Alabama like they did in the SEC Championship (just ask LSU how last year went). I concur with blue that the SEC is hands-down the best conference in the country. But UGA fans, please don’t forget you looked just like ND against Alabama when you played at South Carolina this year, and lost by the same number of points. And you looked lackluster in the game against Nebraska, who by the way, was blown out by Wisconsin 70-31; this was the same Wisconsin team that lost to Stanford, and the same Stanford team that was beat by ND. Silly to say ND would finish next to last in the SEC based on one game. UGA had a great year; be proud and quit whining about ND because fortune did not smile on you this year.

Breaking news from Miami….the stadium grounds crew report that have found parts of Manti’s tattooes that Eddie Lacey knocked off of him! UPS will ship those to Manti at the Pope’s expense 1st think Thursday.

Nick Saban is upset that the Alabama fans aren’t sticking with his 24 hour rule on celebrations. Couches are still being reported as burning in Alabama.

Wall Stree New….Warren Buffet of Clayton Homes will have his company build a special edition Alabama National Championship Single Wide that should be a huge seller for Clayton. As you would expect the UGA folks are upset but Warren has that covered since he will build one for the UGA folks but it will be 5 yards short of the Bama version.

One has to respect UGA with Murray returning, their offense will be quite quite good and they should put up 40 points a game, the defense will give up a great deal of points which make things interesting. Clemson up first will be a major major challenge, then USC comes to town looking to start their season off with a strong SEC start, and with a full compliment of Defensive players that will be the game in which we will see what UGA’s season looks like.

Win the line of scrimmage then you win the game, win the division, win the conference and win another BCS title for the SEC.

At this point in 2013 anything is possible. There are so many unknown factors that will play out. It would seem that AL, OSU, and OR are probably the front runners. Who knows, the DAWGS could have a better performing defence next year if it can find folks who can play run defence.

Interesting comments about the Vanderbilt Commodores. As I mentioned before the season, VU would win 8 or 9 games. This is Brand New Vanderbilt – not the one that many uninformed fans may believe or perceive.

VU is committed to competing and winning the SEC. Yes, believe that fans. Franklin is there to stay for the long run. VU is putting millions into their football program and facilities.

VU will be better this coming season. Get on board! VU football is a winner now.

Alabama has a very good football program. And I’ve heard all the dynasty talk. But some people forget that Bama didn’t play in the SEC title game last season, and were 5 yards away from being a non-issue this season. They’re good, probably consistently the best over the past 4 seasons. But let’s be careful on the dynasty talk.

I think the common concensus of what I am reading here is the OHIO STATE is NOT considered by anyone who reads your opinion to be worthy of the list and certainly not number 2. ND and the other bowl games showed the weakness of the big ten. Even if Ohio State manages to do it again I and I think most of the non big ten country would be willing to pass them over for a one loss from the PAC or Big 12 and a 2 loss from the SEC just to avoid another embarrassing display on the national level from that conference. That is just a horrible group of football teams.

Until the NCAA investivates the suit thing over in Loosa they have all the advanages to keep winning. Alabama should not have been allowed in the NC race this year. Lose a game and fall back two places where no one else has a fair CHANCE to play for the NC.Texas A and M is by far the best team in the SEC by a hundred miles. Maybe this will be the year that the NCAA does there job.

Mark, I really don’t understand how you have Clemson ranked that high, particularly when they are losing Hopkins? They had their doors blown off by South Carolina at Clemson (with a backup QB) and FSU. They beat Les Miles when he had his typical brain fart and lost a game he should have won. Dabo has not shown he can beat a really good team. They will win a bunch because of their crappy schedule and the crappy league they play in. I don’t see them beating UGA or South Carolina. Clowney might get double digit sacks in that game.

Yeah, No doubt ya gotta give Bama their due and Ga. did lose SEC game by 5 yards and poor rush defense. However to have Ohio State, Oregon or any other team listed ahead of GA at this years end or next years polls is a croc. Look at the slug-fest SEC game between Bama and GA and tell me ND, OSU, Oregon or Aggies could have measured up. None of those teams belong in the same sentence with Bama or GA much less above them in the polls. For any team desiring entry into the elite category or in BCS ratings they should be compelled to play any SEC team to qualify. The evidence speaks for itself.

Signing day is about three weeks away and some recruits have already signed early. Notre Dame has one of the best “commit” classes in the country and these commits are going to look around. UGA needs to give Isaac Rochelle a call – if Kelly leaves maybe Rochelle leaves?

A&M was strong in the trenches and that is a big reason why they beat Bummer. According to the evaluators the 1st DE and 1st OT drafted will be from A&M and they could go #1 & #2 in this draft. Has that ever happened before? So- my point is that A&M will lose others to the draft also and won’t be quite as good as in 2012.

Under the Bleachers and Flo-Ri-Duh..if you think ther Gators are the only team losing defensive players – you need to take a look at UGA. 9 NFL picks on defense and BAMA runs for 350 yards – what was wrong there? The answer is Grantham.
Mark, you never miss a chance to bash UF – and this time it was their f$u performance in the Sugar Bowl, penalties – player ejections, argueing with officials – and along with SOS, the Gators will beat UGA next year, because UGA can’t get off the field with their defense.

It’s a proven fact, you don’t have to play in the SEC CG to get a BCS bid and losing the SEC-CG can get you “jumped” by a lower ranked team. The loser of SEC-CG is penalized. UGA played the undisputed #1 team in the Country to the last second, to the last few yards but fell short. It was a great game where Bama overcame a gritty and determined UGA team. One of the best games I saw all year. It was a heavyweight fight that kept changing leads throughout the game. If you don’t think UGA played a great game then you are just being dishonest and insist on twisting the truth which makes your opinion moot. Bama deserved the win, but the Dawgs deserved a BCS shot. The system is broken. The polls and Sports Media are FOS & BIASED TO THEIR FAVORITES. I would rather watch the UGA/BAMA SEC-CG again, than have to endure a replay of Bama/ND. Oregon, or another game with TA&M, would have been a better NC game…

Kingdaddy – we embarrassed ourselves with the poor play – but before you want to remind me of our performance against Louisville – tell me again about UGA – UCF last year. Louisville coach Charlie Strong – 15 years at UF – known as “The Mayor of Gainesville” – a great recruiter who had 34 State of Florida players on his team. Think there was some Louisville motivation there? How many bowl teams did Georgia have 34 players on? You know what recruiting in Florida is all about – just ask CMR about his QB.

Among the most highly-touted of Alabama’s visitors this weekend are a trio of five-star prospects.
