The view from my seat. There are several more folks in the stands now. (Panoramic photo by M. Bradley)
Miami Gardens, Fla. – Maybe it was because this correspondent spent more time counting ocean waves than hanging out on South Beach, but it was hard to get a read on the fans. I saw far more Alabama folks walking around, and it wasn’t until Sunday that I saw more than a few Notre Dame shirts. (And I’d even gone to Mass, where there were actually more folks wearing crimson. Go figure.)
That changed today. When the first media bus rolled into the parking lot at Sun Life Stadium — that’s what this place, which has known many names, is now called — at 3:40 p.m., we saw Irish fans by the boatload. If I had to guess, I’d say the crowd will be 55-45 Bama, but I’m bad at estimating crowds.
I’m sometimes bad at predicting games, too, but the responsibility to offer a pick comes with the job. I’m on video record with Noah Coslov of CineSport as taking the Tide to win 17-10, but I’ve covered a few of these BCS title games and I know the favorite doesn’t always win. (Exhibit A: USC in January 2006; Exhibit B, Ohio State in the desert the next year.)
OK, enough of me. I’ll be here until a national champ has been identified, and I’d appreciate the company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

My favorite…on a sports blog and talking about your degree. Reminds me of the bumble bees. This is a discussion about a football game not the value of your diploma. Go to bed…you’ve got 7th grade math to teach in the morning.

UGA will be tough next year.
If y’all make it out of the Carolina 2 step to start the season, watch out!!
Bama, A&M and UGA will all be in the top 6 at worse to begin the year.
Oregon, FSU or Clemson & Ohio St will be at the top also.

Final BCS rankings (top 5) will probably look like this:
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Georgia
4. Stanford
5. Texas A&M
This is based on the last BCS poll and bowl results.

2nd in the Heisman??!!
Nothing personal against the guy, butt he doesn’t make 1st Team All-SEC.

I think the difference is that Alabama is a NFL AAA farm team. Notre Dame is either single A or rookie league. The equivalent of the old Macon Whoopies anyway.

I told my son-in-law before the game it would be 28-0 by halftime. Watching ND this season, figured going in six SEC teams would (should) be favored to beat them.
Now, will the final polls straighten out the travesty in the rankings? From where I sit, the top four teams in the COUNTRY are Bama, Texas A&M, Georgia, South Carolina. Maybe, maybe Oregon has a case. Florida was ranked way up there – why exactly?
Just think, with the new playoff system Florida would have gotten in and Georgia – not, right?. I don’t expect the new system will be any better than the old one.

McCarron will likely get the MVP but I think if Reggie Ball had played behind a line like that he would have been a #1 draft choice. If there was any justice a lineman would get some credit every now and then.
