Live from the BCS title game, where the Irish have landed

Miami Gardens, Fla. – Maybe it was because this correspondent spent more time counting ocean waves than hanging out on South Beach, but it was hard to get a read on the fans. I saw far more Alabama folks walking around, and it wasn’t until Sunday that I saw more than a few Notre Dame shirts. (And I’d even gone to Mass, where there were actually more folks wearing crimson. Go figure.)

That changed today. When the first media bus rolled into the parking lot at Sun Life Stadium — that’s what this place, which has known many names, is now called — at 3:40 p.m., we saw Irish fans by the boatload. If I had to guess, I’d say the crowd will be 55-45 Bama, but I’m bad at estimating crowds.

I’m sometimes bad at predicting games, too, but the responsibility to offer a pick comes with the job. I’m on video record with Noah Coslov of CineSport as taking the Tide to win 17-10, but I’ve covered a few of these BCS title games and I know the favorite doesn’t always win. (Exhibit A: USC in January 2006; Exhibit B, Ohio State in the desert the next year.)

This is the most credentialed BCS game ever. Including photographers, almost 900 media passes were issued. (And this doesn’t count the 450 commanded by ESPN, that entity unto itself.)

Weather: It rained much of the day, but it has cleared. (This happens often in Florida.) It’s not supposed rain during the game, which might mean something, though I know not what.

OK, enough of me. I’ll be here until a national champ has been identified, and I’d appreciate the company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

Well, I’ll say this. I am glad that UGA doesn’t play against TAMU next year, but if you are going to sling stones at me for UGA’s performance against SCAR How about TAMU against FLA? Last time I checked they choked against Louisville. But seriously, you should check some of my earlier posts, I don’t think anyone wants to play A&M right now. Manziel is a beast. I really didn’t give you guys enough credit, I thought you would be more like Mizzou your first year in the league, but unlike some of my other UGA brethren, I can admit when I am wrong

Mark still has to meet deadline for the paper version. There are some people who still have bird cages to line. (Not an editorial on Mark’s writing just the reality of printed newspapers going the way of the clay tablet.)

I’m still proud of my ND degree. Would not trade it for a Bama degree, or 14 SEC degrees for that matter.

Worried that the Falcons game will look like this, with Seattle controlling the lines of scrimmage. Falcons can’t run or stop the run. Falcons may have to score 40 points on Sunday.

Good for you, Promethius and your degree. Let’s not talk about your football team, though. What a laugher.

Prometheus, your ND degree is about as overrated as your football team. Just like in 1980.

I wouldn’t trade my UGA degree for your plus three other leprechauns.

Ps. UGA is undefeated against ND…

Lucky for you Mak, you don’t have to listen to Musburger and Herbsriet. Not once have they mentioned the real reasons, team speed, and quality of schedule, or in simple terms, real college football, all year long.

Mark, If anybody doubts UGA now let them forever hold ther mouth. This is your new BCS TOP FIVE: ALABAMA, TEX A&M. GEORGIA, and SOUTH CAROLINA. with ND falling to sixth place! Anybody wanna doubt me? It’s the beginning of the fourth Quarter and it’s 35-7. The National Title was in Atlanta four weeks ago at the SECCG.Ths is SEC and National title territory.

LOL!!! Posted on the Indianapolis Star newspaper, ” Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron’s play in the BCS Championship game might be overshadowed by his model girlfriend, Katherine Webb, who ESPN cameras spotted early Monday night sitting next to McCarron’s mother, Dee Dee Bonner.
ESPN commentator Brent Musburger had an awkward moment when commenting on Webb during the live broadcast.”

UGA will be tough next year.
If y’all make it out of the Carolina 2 step to start the season, watch out!!
Bama, A&M and UGA will all be in the top 6 at worse to begin the year.
Oregon, FSU or Clemson & Ohio St will be at the top also.
