Touchdown, Alabama! And there were a bunch of those Monday night. (AP photo by John Bazemore)
UPDATED WITH NICK SABAN QUOTES
Miami Gardens, Fla. – For a minute, this felt like a real event. That was the minute before kickoff, when the stadium was alive and both sides lived in hope. Then the game began, and it got …
Ugly? If you’d hoped for a competitive BCS championship game, yes. But in another way, what came after was a kind of brutal beauty. A great football team played at the peak of its power, and how often are we privileged to witness such brilliance? If this wasn’t quite UCLA beating No. 1 Houston 101-69 in the 1968 Final Four, it was pretty darn close.
Alabama led by seven points after three minutes, by 21 four seconds into the second quarter. At that moment, the Crimson Tide had outgained No. 1 Notre Dame 203 yards to 23 and had scored more points than the vaunted Irish defense had allowed in four quarters this season. It’s easy to say now that Notre Dame stands revealed as a fraud, but this is what Alabama does. It takes big-shouldered No. 1 teams — LSU last January, Notre Dame this time — and renders them puny by comparison.
Again we were reminded that there is no other league like the SEC, which has won seven BCS titles in succession and might win the next 77, but now we know that, even among the SEC’s array of heavyweights, there’s no program like Alabama and no coach like Nick Saban. This was once seen as the least of the past five Tide teams – afterward, Saban said his men “certainly exceeded every expectation we had for them” — but it was again the best in the land.
Three of the past four BCS title games have been won by Alabama, and four of the past 10 championships have been taken by Saban. What began as domination by a conference has yielded to the singular excellence of one driven man. College football has its Krzyzewski, meaning a coach who isn’t just the best but the best by such a distance as to make it seem unfair.
Said Saban: “A world like ‘dynasty’ is not one I’m much interested in. I’m more interested in ‘accomplishment’ and ‘consistency’ and ‘performance.’ ”
SEC zealots will insists Notre Dame wouldn’t have gone unbeaten against an SEC-caliber schedule, and it probably wouldn’t. (Even Alabama didn’t.) But the Irish arrived as a proud and strong team that had beaten Stanford, which won the Pac-12, and Oklahoma, which finished tied atop the Big 12, and other Brand Names. But it was clear after one drive that Notre Dame at its best couldn’t touch Alabama, and rarely does Bama allow any opponent to look its best.
Eddie Lacy burst through holes as as broad as an airport runway, and those few times he encountered Irish resistance he shrugged it aside. The decorated Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o was made to look ordinary, and the Irish lineman couldn’t lay a pinkie on AJ McCarron, who found receivers running free and easy. And when Alabama dazzles you with offensive footwork, you’re in for a long night.
Early in the second quarter, there came a moment when the difference in class was made manifest. The fleet Irish quarterback Everett Golson shook free on a third-down scramble and had a clear path to the first down. C.J. Mosley, whose tip of Aaron Murray’s final pass decided the hairbreadth SEC championship game, ran down Golson and stopped him short.
Only moments earlier, Irish coach Brian Kelly chose to try for a first down on fourth-and-five at the Alabama 39. The play failed, and it underscored how quickly Alabama can drive a sound coach to desperation. (Fun fact: When Notre Dame scored late in the third quarter, it marked the first points Bama had yielded in the 108 minutes and seven seconds in the BCS title game, a span over which it had outscored three opponents — Texas, LSU and now Notre Dame — 69-0.)
This game was 28-0 at the half — it would end 42-14 — and 28-nil wasn’t from the famous 31-0 halftime spread Alabama had amassed against No. 3 Georgia in Athens on Sept. 28, 2008. That game stands as the first watershed victory of Saban’s Bama, and almost everything since has been a consolidation of gains, and who out there seems apt to stem the raging Tide?
Said Saban, quibbling: “We got here by five yards. Georgia was five yards from scoring (to win the SEC title).”
Before Monday night, no school had repeated as BCS champion. Alabama now has two in a row, and three of four, and the belief in Tide circles is that next year’s team will be even better. Just as the SEC has lapped the rest of the collegiate field, Alabama has lapped the mighty SEC. Even within the only conference that matters, there’s only one team that matters. Nick Saban’s team.
“This was really special,” he said, “and someday when I’m sitting on the hill watching the stream go by, I might think even deeper thoughts. But what about next year’s team? Somebody’s got to think about that.”

If UGA ever wants the crystal football, to win the NC, then Richt has to be as good as Saban.
Saban is several orders of magnitude superior to Richt, as is his entire coaching staff. It permeates the players.
UGA can never get there with Richt at the controls.
This is as good as it gets for UGA. Enjoy while you can, folks.

Richt was very very close to winning one this year as he has been a couple other times while at Georgia. No, Richt is not as good as Saban as a coach, but the problem with your statement is that it leaves out the fact NO other coach in all of college football is as good as Saban.

A&M should be ranked higher than UGA, Stanford too.
Oregon as well, obviously Alabama. Ohio State in the AP should stay above.
South Carolina should leap over Georgia too. Notre Dame will probably fall above Georgia.
So right where Georgia is now is where they should stay. Or maybe down 1.
Ranking UGA higher is kind of like saying Notre Dame is #1 and Alabama is #2, it’s just not a reality.

I see post saying, “Well Georgia is number 2″ and we are all satisfied and patting ourselves on the back and saying how proud we are but are we? Let me quote a great football coach on his feeling about being number 2.
There is only one place in my game and that’s first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay and I don’t ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers. As Dale Earnhardt once said second place is just first loser. Georgia must develop this attitude if we ever expect to see another national championship.

Six teams in the SEC could have beaten Notre Dame tonight or any other weekend this fall. Alabama (which did), Florida, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, and South Carolina. The SEC is so dominant as a conference that the polling system no longer makes any sense not to mention the BCS system. And, until we get a bona fide play-off system like the NFL or any other division in college football, it will always be suspect. Did you ever wonder why they don’t have polls for the NFL?

Hard not to believe that UGA might not compete with either UA, the odds on Favorite, or TAM, whichever comes out of the west next year…and I am not a homer, nor prognosticator.
I think as most Dawg fans do- the operative word is think, although using ‘think and ‘Dawg fan” in the same sentence might be a bit of a stretch- that with AM returning, along with his entire OL, that there is a legit reason for optimism in 2013. If the defense can only play as good as it did this past year- which was certainly not great- we should be able to stay competitive within a much tougher and improved schedule. Didn’t say we’d win them all, but if we come out of September 3-1, we should remain in the hunt until season’s end.
Biggest question is how good are the defenses we will face in our first three or four games. However, to that end, for the month of September alone, I am pleased to see AM returning. Experience counts for something in this league!
I would also be remiss if I did not offer congrats the Techies in the crowd on the USC beat down. The Dog’s game, Tech’s and the lumps laid on the “Lizards’ by Louisville, along with this game tonight made for a most satisfying bowl season.
Well, on to recruiting season and spring practice…and the doldrums. Hope I live til next season; seriously!
Go Dogs!

Not only was Bama revealed as the work of Sabanic genius it is, but the BCS as the utter failure it represents. How else can you describe a system that not only billed this as a matchup between the 2 very best teams in the land, but prior to the NCG, ranked ND higher than Bama, UGA, TAM, LSU, etc.? This was a game of boys v. Men – toy soldiers v. Titans – wannabe’s v. The Truth. All hail the end of the BCS experiment! Cast it upon the junk pile of history’s utter failures and bring on the new playoff system.
Congratulations Bama! Job well done. May God Bless you & see you all in Sept of ‘13!

Just to be polite before the game, it was just good manners to say something like . . . yeah, ND is a good team and under dogs have won before, and anything can happen, etc. . . . but who really believed that for a second. ND should have lost to Pitt (were they ranked at all?) and escaped because they missed a field goal. They should have lost to Stanford, but they also missed one or two field goals. And USC gave them a hell of a game, with USC’s starting quarterback on the bench the entire game.
But, it was the mighty Notre Dame, and Knute, and the Gipper, and the luck of the Irish and touchdown Jesus, and the national love of recognition of the Fightin’ Irish etc. and well . . . here is a very good live lesson for everyone about what can happen to your when you ignore reality and start to believe your own legend, your own hype, and your own BS. ND and their fans bought it all hook line and sinker, and the results are never good.
They might have noticed that Bama won a league that is a whole lot different than when they last played in the 80’s. It is easy to immediately recognize two better teams than Notre Dame right off the get go – Texas A&M and Georgia. And again the college football world will have to grit their teeth once again as Bama of the SEC is rated number one for 2013-2014, and with Texas A&M and Georgia in the top along with them 5 with them. And then Oregon (who will do great and then crater as they always do, and Ohio State coming off probation, which might be real with a former SEC coach now running the show. So. Bama, A&M, Georgia, Oregon, and THE Ohio State University in the top 5 to start the year. It could happen. Notre Dame may make it into the top ten, but that is a maybe. LSU, beaten by a great team in a tough one point loss is still hanging in there. Clemson is certainly a top ten team. And Florida is still n the picture, but the Gators, who sleep walked through their bowl game, will have to prove themselves all over again with victories. Prediction: Unless A&M and Georgia really step up and stop the Tide, Bama will will 3 in a row next year.

A few comments about UGA:
1. Four different SEC teams have won the last seven BCS championships.
2. UGA was NOT one of those teams.
3. During that period, UGA did not even win an SEC championship.
4. Red panties and Damon Evans.
5. 85% of UGA football recruits would not be admitted to UGA based only on grades and SAT scores. These clowns are called “Special Admits.”
In other words, UGA has sunk into total irrelevancy both regionally and nationally.

1969 Graduate of University of Georgia here to congratulate Bama on a very impressive game, another national championship, and a classy representation of the SEC on a huge stage.
Notre Dame looked like they didn’t belong. I found myself wondering which SEC teams would have also beat them besides Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt! I would think that after this exposure Notre Dame should drop out of the top 10 in the BCS poll.
Alabama was – as they should be – the big winner. The SEC was also a big winner. Georgia was a big winner. Texas A&M was a big winner.
BCS poll should end up with Alabama, Georgia, and Texas A&M in the top spots. That won’t be likely, but that’s how it should be. Does anyone doubt they are the top 3 teams in the nation.
The real National Championship Game was played in Atlanta after all.
Go, Alabama! Go, SEC! Go, Georgia Bulldogs!

I guess all the folks who thought Georgia’s run defense sucked soooo badly have to re-evaluate a bit now. Notre Dame was supposed to have a great defense but Bama did to them pretty much exactly what they did to UGA for half of the SEC championship game. The difference was Georgia got stops on several occasions and Notre Dame did not. They were dominated. Notre Dame did not belong on the field with Bama.
The real National Championship was played in the Ga Dome. It is just a shame that the BCS poll was so skewed. Unfortunately for ND, they will have to dominate everyone on their schedule to get a whiff of the Top 5 for years to come. Nobody like being made a fool of and everyone who bought into “the Irish are back!” found out the hard way that they aren’t.

It amuses me to see where some northern teams in northern conferences are ranked and much fawned over, knowing full well that these much-hyped teams have not played a SEC team and certainly have not played Alabama.
Then when they do, they and their conference are exposed as weak and non-competitive to the SEC.
ND had no chance, as much as the press would have you believe they did.

4. Following teams would beaten ND: UA, UGA, TAMU, LSU, USC, Florida, and probably Old Miss and Vandy on a good day. Did I miss anyone?

Now, Alabama would have beat any one of them, so lets make that clear. But how bad was that ND defense? I haven’t read the national media take yet today, but is THAT the ND team they have been braggin on?
I don’t think Georgia should have been #2. They were the second best team in the country one night, but they were also the 99th best team one night a few month ago. #5 is probably a fair spot for the season.

Since the 2008 game in Athens, who has gotten relatively better, Alabama or Georgia? Saban knows time does not stand still. Georgia did not beat Alalbama, but there is a reason why Saban is mentionng Georgia rather than the team that did beat alabam in the regular season. I would not diss the reference to UGA. Saban meant it as a compliment and he will use Georgia as motivation for next year. Who knows, if UGA shows up with a defense that can stop the run on 3rd and 3, we could see a change in the score board.

Those ridiculous talking heads at ESPN, who happen to think so highly of themselves, built up ND. They put them on a pedestal which resulted in the ND nation and the sports media thinking ND is a college football god– just because they are Notre Dame. Give me a break! They either don’t know what they are talking about or just enjoy watching how much influence they have on the sports journalism world. What joke. No one who watches or knows anything about college football thought that ND stood a chance in this ball game. It was a butt whoopin before it ever happened. ND was a poser. OMG– Ole Miss clobbered Pitt, and ND squeaked by with that win. And where was the great Manti TE’O? — his presence was totally inconsequential. He was exposed as an fraud as well–Heisman Trophy candidate my butt! (This is not a criticism of Te’o, it IS a criticism of ESPN! I think that young man gave it his all.) All the while during the NC game, ESPN was still calling him the number one LB in the country– whatever! Even his stats don’t give him that status– he is an image created by ESPN and how sad they set this poor young man up for such a hard fall. They should assume the responsibility for all of the nonsense they perpetuated around this young man and ND. I feel really terrible for Te’o because he was never as great as ESPN built him up to be and for what ever reason, I just don’t know. Jarvis Jones and Clowney (at SCar) are far better than Te’o and really did not get the recognition they earned because those pin heads spent all of their time building up a paper tiger in Te’o & ND. For crying out loud, JJ missed two games this year due to injury– just think where his stats could have been. ESPN has far too much influence than they deserve and most all of their talking heads think more highly of themselves than they ought. They owe Te’o, ND and the ND nation an apology.

Congrats to the Bama folks.
Just as I predicted, a blowout.
Thankfully, maybe the end is near of sending an overmatched northern team to get curb stomped by the SEC in these BCS title games.
How is Notre Dame still even in the top ten, much less top 5?
They would be 7th or 8th in the SEC.
Good year for the Dawgs, not great, but good.
Tide looks loaded for next year but I imagine there will be others in the mix, including us. They won with a great offense and a young defense that got better as they year went on. Maybe we can us that formula in 2013
Congrats to the Tide.

That’s not true because Alabama lost 3 games that year. It would have been Oregon vs TCU.
Congrats to Bama nation. Great dominate game and you all showed the rest of the college football world why the SEC is the greatest.

Notre Dame should never have played this game. They were not deserving of it, and the way the teams are picked is a joke. ‘Bama would stomp them 100 out of 100 times….this was not a contest. The yahoos who thought the Irish were good enough to be in the NC game just show how inefficient things are. They were undefeated, sure, but other than a fair-to-middlin’ team or two they had a milk-toast schedule. A and M, UGA, LSU, Oregon and yes, probably Georgia Tech would have beat Notre Dame, and that is just to name a few. They were totally overmatched playing ‘Bama and it would be a blowout every time. And yet, they played for a National Championship? Ain’t beatin’ up on the kids too badly, but Notre Dame is not in the top fifteen….period! They could not compete (much less beat) any of the top tier teams.

The whole system at this point is setup for the SEC to pummel an overachieving team every year. It will probably be Ohio State next year. They play a weak schedule, and tend to win close games. Then we get the 4 team playoff which will probably be 4 SEC teams every year. College Football is getting kind of boring.

I think he was having flashbacks to the beatdown Saban put on him in the 2009 SEC championship game that put him in the hospital and made his a$$ quit. After watching the season beginning ending bookend annihilations Alabama put on his fellow Midwest plodders Michigan and Notre Dame, Urban has to feel a little sick realizing how far THE Ohio State University is from Alabama’s level.

I agree. I turned the game off at halftime and that was a quarter longer than it should have been. Notre Dame would have been hard pressed to beat T A&M, USCe and UGA for sure. LSU and FL might have had a difficult time because they have no offense. In fact, their offense is something similar to Notre Dame’s. Alabama is clearly the best team and I don’t think T A&M would have been nearly as successful if they played Bama again.

Bama fans have been waiting on that game since 1973. UGA can take solace in the fact they almost played in last night’s game, but it just didn’t happen. It’s a game of inches and the SECCG showed that. What last night did show is that, although the gap might not be as wide as it used to be, the SEC is still considerably ahead of the rest of the country.

The only problem here continues to be the BCS system. If Ohio State had been eligible the championship would have been Notre Dame and Ohio State. But I would venture a guess that Ohio State would have not faired any better against Alabama then did Notre Dame.
___________________
You’r right about UGA. By the way, that same football coach also said, “Winning isn’t everything–it’s the ONLY thing.” And, “Show me a good loser, and I’ll show you a loser.”
And he’s right on all of it. It’s called “winning mentality” vs “losing mentality.” Sadly, it’s pooh-poohed by too many–especially the everyone-gets-a-trophy crowd–but it’s a huge factor in building a championship program, like Bama’s. And it’s equally important in the development of teams that never seem to be able to take that final step up to elite status–all ATL pro teams over the past half-century, for example (except the ‘95 Braves). Hopefully the Falcons will help the city shed its “Losersville” label beginning this Sunday. We’ll see.
And hopefully UGA–after a 3-decade drought–will finally take the same step in 2013.

Sure, ‘Bama has a great o-line, but N.D did NOT have some great front seven as advertised….period. None of them could have started for many top teams. This is not about the SEC, or any other conference. It is simpler than that. It is about TRYING to get the two best (or the closest to the two best) in the N.C. game. No one wants to win as badly as I do, but I’m not one of those “If you don’t win the National Championship, you had a failure of a season.” We fans don’t know the feeling of the players that left it all on the field during the season. Heck, most of us never even put on a set of pads after high school. All we do is second guess the coaches after the game, lament how “so-and-so” didin’t run harder on a particular play or proudly proclaim that we can call plays better than the coordinator. We can’t. If we could, we wouldn’t be on this blog. That SECCG just left me reeling, but I don’t bad mouth the Dawgs or think someone should be fired. Bobo (who most of you crush under foot), just had the most successful offensive performance in UGA history…HISTORY. We dang well almost beat the Bama jugernaut in the most exciting SECCG ever played. We weren’t the better team, but we almost beat the better team, anyway. I’m proud of the Dawgs, proud of UGA and the rest of the SEC teams that won their games. Manti would get to play at Bama but only late in the 4th QTR against Miss State and other Little Sisters of the Poor. The only time AJ got a good lick was when Barrett hit him.
Alabama will be a great football team in 2013 since we have some pass rushers coming and that has to happen. We made Murray look like Joe Namath since he had all day. It is strong to win one NC but 3 in 4 years with 85 limits is really strong. Congrats to the team ,coaches, and us redneck fans.

As a BAMA alum and faithful fan living in Georgia, I watch Georgia closely and after the TIDE, always want them to show up, too. This was a good season for Georgia…great SEC championship game…went down to the wire….two great teams on the field that day represented their schools, the SEC and the college game at the highest level. In my humble observations of programs, going back to the BEAR days in college, I think that Georgia will always have the opportunity to recruit great athletes and have great programs. The one large missing factor is the lack of real effort of organization and discipline by the head coach and his staff. There are glaring pluses with elements of this staff, but I truly think that Richt, while being a real Christian guy, is just not what it takes to be a college coach in the SEC. I do not think that he has personally, nor demands a strong work ethic of his staff and the disciplinary governing of his team is weak. Not to say certain coaches on his staff do not have a different work habit and stronger, but without the leader it does not show. There are too many elements of distraction today for athletes and ‘faith words alone’ does not make a leader…you have to be ‘hands-on’ 24/7 to make it work. I do not think that Richt is that kind of coach and relies to much on the ‘individual commitment’ from the athlete, without the constant monitoring of the coaching staff to make it work.
I may be a little unique, but again, I wish Georgia the best (except when it comes to the Tide) and do believe one of the best championship games this year was played and seen right here in Atlanta.

AP now has Oregon and Notre Dame ranked ahead of Georgia and Texas A&M. Fox power rankings are worse. This is why the new playoff system will be just as big a travesty as the current system, quite possibly worse on an expanded scale. Anybody paying even passive attention knows, I mean knows, Georgia and Texas A&M would rip Notre Dame to shreds, and I have a strong sense Oregon is essentially — Clemson.
The only “fair” system is to devise a playoff of conference winners (forget the independents, if they want to play for a championship they need to affiliate with a conference). This restores the integrity of the conferences and conference championships, but it would totally destroy a lot of the pagentry and tradition of college football.

Once you win the SEC championship any team after that is a joke, people talking about Org would gave Bama a run, this is the same looking Org team Auburn crushed with Cam, the SEC is a semi pro conference.
In the SEC its almost impossibe to go undefeated, teams like Ohio State, USC, Okl would be 4th or 5th best in the conference, Louville had what over 20 players from Florida imagine if those players had of stayed home and played at UF, the south rules college football”””””’

Alabama’s 42-14 rout over Notre Dame drew a 15.7 overnight rating Monday on ESPN, the network said Tuesday. That’s up 14 percent from last year’s game, another blowout Crimson Tide victory, 21-0 over LSU. But it’s down from the 16.1 for ESPN’s first BCS championship two years ago, Auburn’s win over Oregon that was decided in the final seconds.
The matchup between traditional powerhouses in Alabama and Notre Dame created the potential for a record-setting audience. But once the Crimson Tide went up 28-0 by halftime, viewers had reason to skip the second half.
The first half had an 18.2 overnight rating this year, significantly higher than the 16.6 for Auburn-Oregon. Typically viewership increases throughout a game if it is competitive. But on Monday, the rating peaked between 9 and 9:15 p.m. EST – midway through the first half – and decreased from there as Alabama pulled away.

Saban is wired differently than 99% of college coaches. He is a respected leader and expects excellence from himself and everyone he works with. Players know if they do what he asks that he’ll take them to the promised land and in the process, he’ll work harder than they do to ensure success. When asked what he’s most proud of after last night’s game, Saban said the way his team represents the school and football program both on and off the field.
Other coaches- including Richt- don’t have the same drive and passion to win NCs that Saban has. Saban showed more passion and moxy last night in the 4th qtr up 30 points than Richt showed all year.
Additionally, you rarely hear about off-field problems with Saban’s players yet Richt’s players find trouble at every turn. This shows that Saban’s players respect him while Richt’s players like him. Big difference.
In the end, Nick Saban is in a league that Richt and most other coaches will never know. While Saban seeks his 5th title, Richt still trying to connect the dots on his first. I’d be willing to bet that Saban could have won multiple titles with the talent Richt has had at UGA. Richt’s mismanagement of UGA’s talent is very similar to Cox’s mismanagement of the Braves in the 90’s. Difference being Cox lucked into one title.

What Saban has forgotten about coaching and how to make a winner CMR hasn’t learned yet. Not that CMR is a bad coach, he just isn’t the winner Saban is or wants to be. “and the point I was trying to make that the 2011 championship was an illegitimate championship, due to the fact you cannot have a team from the same Conference and Division in a Nat’l Championship game and call that crap a National Championship game,”
Sure you can. Happens occasionally in NCAA basketball. So when Villanova of the big east, which had lost 2 or 3 times in the same season already to Georgetown, then beat Georgetown and Patrick Ewing in the 1985 NCAA championship title game did that national title not count??? And if I’m not mistaken that isn’t the only time that teams from the same conference have played for a national title in basketball. You’re point is silly and irrelevant.

“Georgia is losing two receivers on their Offense, the same offense that scored 28 points against Alabama.”
7576 dawg,
Allow me to correct you. Georgia’s offense scored 21 on Bama. The other 7 was scored on a lucky blocked field goal returned for a td which is a 10 pt swing on just one play.
“See you in the SEC Championship in 2013. Bama may be loaded but so is Georgia.”
You really think you’ll be there? You pick up LSU next year and that’s a loss right there. Fla may have had a hiccup against Louisville but they will be back. And S. Carolina owns you.
And you’re not as loaded as Bama by any means. You may lose all 11 defensive starters. To say you are as loaded when losing all 11 defensive starters is nothing short of absurd. You guys are as delusional as always. There’s a reason why you guys are considered the most delusional fan base in college football.

Point is, OSU would still have had to play a conference playoff game to get to a Natl title game (who thought Wisconsin would take out Nebraska like they did?) and the risk that goes with that due to injuries and unexpected loss…ND did not have to do that…

You are correct on some points. I am concerned about UGA next year, particularly with the sked and the D. But there are no world beaters in the SEC East – UF has a good D, but worthless offense. USCe may beat us, but they are good to trip up a few times every year. UGA back in the SEC Champ would not be surprising.

We can say the same for Alabama. You play TA&M second game of the season in College Station, you also have to play LSU which almost beat you last year. The delusional lives in Knoxville, not in Athens. Bama fans talk about Georgia schedule being easy this past year. FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW ALABAMA DOES NOT PLAY GEORGIA, FLORDIA, NOR SOUTH CAROLINA, WHICH ARE THE THREE BEST TEAMS IN THE EAST. you should be there next because your schedule is easy as H*ll.

This has been acknowledged in ESPN and other NFL observers… his record there was not indicative of his ability… there were a lot of problems when he got there with personnel, etc and other issues beyond his control… even the owner has said as much.. if you go totally by a W-L record, you are not a very good analyst of situations…

So if I read this correctly.. You are saying Alabama did not have any issues before he arrived. Also see “Pete Carroll and Steve Spurrer”. Its not easy coaching drafted players versus recruited players who wants to someday be “drafted players.

Alabama wins with Georgia’s talent.
Kinda funny hearing that from a Georgia fan considering that Georgia’s top players in recent years were all from out of state- Stafford(Texas), Moreno(New Jersey), AJ Green(South Carolina).
On this year’s Bama team none of the premier players AJ McCarron, Lacy, Yeldon, Cooper on offense or on defense CJ Mosely, Jessie Williams, Damion Square, etc. are from Georgia. Bama has one really good player guard Chance Warmack who is from Georgia. The rest of the players on the Alabama team that hail from Georgia tend to be the non impact players- backups, lesser role players.

T&AM,
When Saban took over Miami if I remember correctly they were 1-15 the year before. It was a franchise in ruins and no serious observer disputes that.
In Saban’s 2nd year he had the team on a roll and they had won 6 straight games when the news broke that Bama was pursuing him. The team then hit the skids and went on a 4 game losing streak to end the season and miss the playoffs.
Looking at the situation he took over to say that he was a failure when he started with the worst team in pro football is to ignore the realities of the situation. There is a reason why the Dolphins owner plead with Saban to stay. And there is a reason why so many pro teams still want him. The reason is that they understand these things. You clearly do not.

Aaaah. Nothing like the so and so beat so and so who beat so and so so we are better than you. BTW we went into LSU and beat them in a night game on their turf after they had 2 weeks to prepare for one game. We also had more turnovers and we still won. Matter of fact if AJ and Yeldon don’t have a fumbled handoff exchange near the LSU goal line then that game would have essentially been over early. Forgot about that did ya?
