Borrowing a Mississippi custom, the winner of tonight's game gets a handsome egg trophy. (AP photo)
By now, you’ve heard that some workers at Hartsfield-Jackson greeted the arrival of the New Orleans Saints by pelting a team bus with eggs. What the humorless Saints apparently failed to grasp was that the throwing of eggs is an Atlanta welcoming tradition. Like draping a lei around an arriving tourist is in Hawaii. Or like tossing beads is during Mardi Gras.
Wait a second. Scratch that last one.
As if this rivalry of Big Ben Right and Drew Brees rubbing it in needed more fuel, the egg toss surely supplied it. These teams, as you know, despise one another. The Falcons hate the Saints because the Saints keep beating them and laughing about it. The Saints hate the Falcons because the Falcons never seem to get the yolk … er, joke. (And also because of Roddy White. Don’t forget Roddy White.)
Cold numbers in a heated series: The Saints have won 11 of the past 13 games against the Falcons and seven of nine since the advent of Dimitroff/Smith/Ryan. Yes, it’s getting old. Yes, it’s time for the Falcons to beat this team, which on the record isn’t all that good. Yes, I believe it will happen tonight.
And with that, the figurative floor is again open. I’ll be here to watch, comment and toss out the ceremonial first egg. I invite you to join me, and I promise to do my best to see that all of y’all have an eggcellent time.

Game would be tied, or Saints leading by 4 had they converted TD right before the half, and held onto the dropped TD just then.

Falcons haven’t stopped them in a while.
Hopefully we can run the ball again and take control for a while and let the Ds heads quit spinning!

I wonder if Ryan will have time to throw in the upcoming series. I still don’t like that anemic O line.

Considering the Saints marched down the Field on consecutive possessions, 3 total points givin up aren’t bad.

The TD/MS plan, score quick and put a tired D back on the field.

I’ll tell you…this team is not going to advance in the playoffs. We might win a game, but our O line and D line is suspect.

Saints have left 10 points laying on the turf….
They’re beating themselves.
We’re playing our typical inconsistent game. It’s maddening.

Now watch the offense suk again. Amazing how easy brees makes it look. Why can’t ryan do this? Is he just dumb? Falcons lucky they aren’t behind in this game. Saints out playing them.

Falcons don’t have the O-line or D-line to win a SuperBowl. Great teams have great lines of scrimmage. We don’t have that right now.

Our offensive line against a decent defense is terrible. Not opening holes on blocks and holding.

We will be lucky to win this game. Offense can’t convert on 3rd down…defense will get tired. We’re going to lose.
