Live from Tech: An actual big football game against Duke!

Let’s face it: To call Duke football the rough equivalent of Georgia basketball would be, over time if not at present, an insult to the hoop ‘Dogs. Duke’s last winning season was in 1994; it has won one ACC championship since 1962, and that bears an asterisk, seeing as how Steve Spurrier was then the Blue Devils’ coach.

But here it is 2012 and Duke has a chance to claim the Coastal Division if it beats Georgia Tech today and Miami next week in Durham. Me, I don’t think the Dookies can win either game, but maybe that’s just me.

As we know, the Jackets are themselves somehow alive and kicking in the carnival ride that is the ACC Coastal. Tech can get to 5-3 in league play and stamp itself as the leader in the clubhouse by beating Duke. And the Jackets have won eight straight against the Devils and 16 of 17. The exception was in 2003, when interim Duke coach Ted Roof startled his alma mater 41-17 on a dark Durham day that stands as one the low points in Tech football annals.

OK, enough. Tech needs to win and will, I say. I’ll be on hand to watch and crack wise, and I’d enjoy your company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

Good Solid game from the Senior QB on Senior Night and a final Home game. Need a DC and fast. I do not envy the job that man has.

Also put he Special Teams coach back in Special teams, At least then we will have 2/3 phases of the game. Defense is kind of a lost cause.

If you are giving 30 points, I will take $1k of that action.

Why all UGA fans fat people? I was sitting in a Dairy Queen when two really fat UGA fans who had been to the game came in and tried to make some snide comments about GT. I just ignored their fat butts. They must eat a ton of lard weekly.

And showing up on your Tech’s blog with a handle that suggests you support Tech smacks of cowardice. I am a Tech fan posting under a Tech handle. Why not man up like Rambo Dog or Dawgman?

Sets up what i think might be a tight game next week…not so sure but GSU might be better than GT…Certainly more physical. Not a dig….I expect GT to throw a lot next week which is something GSU coudn’t do….Both teams after today will make many adjustments…..Go Dawgs

SlimG: The SEC hasn’t exactly looked dominate today.

-UF and Georgia had first half struggles against FCS teams.
-USC had struggles with an FCS team well into the fourth.
-LSU is currently tied with a 5-5 Ole Miss team at home

On top of that, 7 of yout teams have played an FCS opponent today.

GSU likely runs the TO more technically correct, but Tech has better athletes on the line and in the backfield. Tech will lose by 10-12, but will score more than 14 points. I am calling 42-31 UGA.

White&Gold….the SEC’s top 6 teams have each played 3 games against top 10 teams this year. Of course, that’s because we play each other. We need a couple of weeks off before Championship Game weekend,,,that’s why we play YOU last game !

I honestly dont see Miami giving up the ACC title game if they get it. I mean would we have given up the ACC title game before we played it? So I see them going, and if they win then let the NCAA come what may. But if they lose, then forgo the bowl and give the ACC/NCAA the finger.

White&Gold thanks for seeing the restraint that some of your so called Tech bloggers have not shown EVER on any UGA blog that I have with the Tech faithful tonight. I really wish Tech would be a 9 or 10 win team every year before Thanksgiving. It would make the “Good Old Fashion Hate” game that much more fun every year.

Only decent teaams on your schedule are USC and Florida and they’re both extremely overrated. Our schedule is very weak, but you can’t sit back and tell me that yours is much better. Buffalo? FAU? Missouri? GSU? Tennessee? Kentucky? Please.

Really proud of the Jackets. Got to admit I never thought they would make it to be bowl eligible but they have fought back amid lots of adversity. Get ready for a looooonnnnngggg week of UGA fans mouthing off. They’ve earned it with a good year – even if their schedule was once again easy, in SEC terms.

Good luck next week Jackets. Play hard. Do your best and represent GT.

“UGA will roll over GT by at least 30 points.”

If UGA doesn’t beat GT by 63 points they should head their head in shame. This is the worst GT team in the last 15 years and UGA has one of their best teams in the last 30 years.

GSU would beat Ga Tech. Johnson knows that and is too afraid to schedule them. GSU has better, faster players and they run the option much better than Ga Tech. Ga Tech also has no defense. I mean giving up 24 points to lowly Duke? come on. Ga Tech should decline any bowl if offered and not embarrass the state of Georgia.
