Coming down won't be easy. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)
Athens – Let’s stipulate that Georgia cannot possibly be as energized for this week’s game as it was seven days ago. Let’s also stipulate that Georgia has more talent than Ole Miss and is playing at home. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Rebels took an early lead and held it awhile. It would, however, be positively stunning if Ole Miss led after four quarters.
It’s also worth noting that Florida, which lost to Georgia, trailed Missouri 7-0 at the half in Gainesville today. (Hey, wasn’t it just yesterday than even some Georgia fans considered Florida too good to lose?) But the Gators have since forged ahead 14-7. Which doesn’t mean they’ll hang on and win. It does, however, underscore the peril inherent in post-big-game blahs.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but motivation — especially the motivation of 20-year-old amateurs — is an ephemeral thing. The Bulldogs have had a week of being slapped on the back. (Surely some of those backslappers harbored private doubts pre-Jax.) It would be human nature to follow an impassioned performance with a lesser one. That said …
The longer games go, the less passion matters. Contrary to popular belief, games tend to be won by the team that plays better, as opposed to harder. Again we note that Georgia has better players, which leads us to predict: Georgia 31, Ole Miss 20.
But you know me. I’ve been wrong a time or two. I’ll be here to watch and report, and I’d appreciate your company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

@ADJUST BOBO.
Will not happen. GA should go 70/30 run/pass, but Bobo will not allow it.

I’m sorry, but this team has no business showing up in Atlanta…it will be an embarrassment if they somehow win today and next week. Did losing Bennett mean so much? It seems Murray has lost the first quick pass options.

So far our punter has been our best player. I hope the Dawgs wake up soon.

Fire Mike Bobo Now! Offensive line can’t block! If Gurley or Marshall make a decent run, it’s almost like he feels they are getting too much exposure so he better go back to letting Murray pass–even if he’s getting sacked or throwing interceptions! Fire him!

Fact: Georgia is second in the SEC in total offense.
But don’t let facts intercede.

@Dawg Nole, my two least favorite teams so of course you’d be the one to totally ignore facts (UGA can’t 3rd down convert, relies on prayer luck and defensive scoring and miracle calls like that 4th down penalty against FL that led to a 1st down and eventual TD) Tell me how any of that makes UGA look impressive, Gators beat themselves with silly penalties and inopertune fumbles at the absolute worst time not due to any imaginary ’skill’ from the Dawgs. But just keep watching today and you’ll see what I see…

Enter your comments here some of y’all are ridiculous. if we run, Bobo sucks. If we pass, Bobo sucks. if a receiver drops a pass, Bobo sucks. If the punt gets blocked, if a cheerleader messes up a cheer, Bobo sucks. some people are just happy being miserable

Our routes are taking to long to develop which sucks bc on the three sacks they have sent at least two second and third level defenders which means we are getting one on ones and some open guys. They are thinking murray cant make a fast decision which is correct so far. Put Marshall in there and screen their butts off and it will end this crap

I, for one, have not indulged in the Richt Koolaid. The recent record against top 20 teams is only 1 game better than last week.

Mark,
The only reason Georgia has been ranked on offense or defense in the past two years is due to their cream-puff schedule. Heck, they barely scraped by Kentucky, and you know how pathetic they are.
