Coming down won't be easy. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)
Athens – Let’s stipulate that Georgia cannot possibly be as energized for this week’s game as it was seven days ago. Let’s also stipulate that Georgia has more talent than Ole Miss and is playing at home. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Rebels took an early lead and held it awhile. It would, however, be positively stunning if Ole Miss led after four quarters.
It’s also worth noting that Florida, which lost to Georgia, trailed Missouri 7-0 at the half in Gainesville today. (Hey, wasn’t it just yesterday than even some Georgia fans considered Florida too good to lose?) But the Gators have since forged ahead 14-7. Which doesn’t mean they’ll hang on and win. It does, however, underscore the peril inherent in post-big-game blahs.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but motivation — especially the motivation of 20-year-old amateurs — is an ephemeral thing. The Bulldogs have had a week of being slapped on the back. (Surely some of those backslappers harbored private doubts pre-Jax.) It would be human nature to follow an impassioned performance with a lesser one. That said …
The longer games go, the less passion matters. Contrary to popular belief, games tend to be won by the team that plays better, as opposed to harder. Again we note that Georgia has better players, which leads us to predict: Georgia 31, Ole Miss 20.
But you know me. I’ve been wrong a time or two. I’ll be here to watch and report, and I’d appreciate your company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

This is the perfect example of the loser mentality. You play scared, you will lose. There is a risk of injury in everything that we do.

This is the problem I have with Richt. He does that far too often in games. He even does it in practice…restricting hitting for fear of injuries.

0125. Do you specialize in anything other than being wrong? Marlon Brown out and taking his pads off. Ice on his knee, Will not return.
What a bizarre fumble. WOW!!!!! Ok, let’s go get some more points but not lose any more starters.

All Dawgs know this, but with their pathetically weak minds, they tend to forget, so here’s a reminder:
Georgia Tech is a very highly ranked academic school that has a football team. Its alumni and fans have real lives and careers that don’t depend on the football team for their happiness.
Georgia, on the other hand, is basically a sell-your-soul-to-the-devil football f-a-c-t-o-r-y that also gives diplomas – worthless as they are. They have scumbag coaches like Mark Richt who have no scruples or ethics, who recruit morons who barely got through high school, and collect huge paychecks, but still can’t win big games.
Now, can you remember all that?

Take away the 2 lucky Playstation touchdowns, and UGA is scoreless…

Can’t take ‘em away, dope. That’s like saying take away UGA’s loss to SC and we’d be undefeated–or take away fla’s loss to UGA and they’d be undefeated. The stupidest of comments.

“THIS team, with a fragile psyche,”
You mean the team that drove the length of the field in the 4th qtr against FL for the winning TD?
You mean the team that beat #2 FL?

Injuries are a part of football. Part of the UGA’s problem is that they have no killer instinct. They always let teams hang around.
And where exactly has the “keeping the starters healthy” game plan got us over the years? Ill wait….

It is hilarious when tech fans come on to a sports blog and start comparing academics….And then flat out lie and say UGA is crap. Just go home a study if academics are that important to you.

dawg fans those two young backs have something special about them. they run like juniors and seniors. you see them progress each week and last yr crowell got worse as the season went on like most freshmen. Freshmen usually start wearing down around this time their body is tired from the more physical game and the harder strength and conditioning program. Cant wait to watch these two do their thang at uga

Branden Smith can be a little frustrating. On the previous play, he was looking around after the ball had been snapped. Then, on the safety, he’s flying to the ball and making a big play with Ogletree. I think his potential gets overshadowed by his tendency to take plays off here and there.
