Coming down won't be easy. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)
Athens – Let’s stipulate that Georgia cannot possibly be as energized for this week’s game as it was seven days ago. Let’s also stipulate that Georgia has more talent than Ole Miss and is playing at home. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Rebels took an early lead and held it awhile. It would, however, be positively stunning if Ole Miss led after four quarters.
It’s also worth noting that Florida, which lost to Georgia, trailed Missouri 7-0 at the half in Gainesville today. (Hey, wasn’t it just yesterday than even some Georgia fans considered Florida too good to lose?) But the Gators have since forged ahead 14-7. Which doesn’t mean they’ll hang on and win. It does, however, underscore the peril inherent in post-big-game blahs.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but motivation — especially the motivation of 20-year-old amateurs — is an ephemeral thing. The Bulldogs have had a week of being slapped on the back. (Surely some of those backslappers harbored private doubts pre-Jax.) It would be human nature to follow an impassioned performance with a lesser one. That said …
The longer games go, the less passion matters. Contrary to popular belief, games tend to be won by the team that plays better, as opposed to harder. Again we note that Georgia has better players, which leads us to predict: Georgia 31, Ole Miss 20.
But you know me. I’ve been wrong a time or two. I’ll be here to watch and report, and I’d appreciate your company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

Well now it’s time to see if we want to satisfy the fans’ bloodlust or rest the starters and keep them from being injured.

With an eleven point lead in the third quarter and Gurley, Marshall and Malcome on our team, why wouldn’t we run the ball out of the I-FORMATION???

STH since 86, why let up now? A second-half rout is a good reward vs. risk for this team.

Marshall appears to be a more reliable blocker than Gurley IMO. Seems like a couple of those early sacks were at least partly due to Gurley. Gurley is a much better runner at this point, tho, again, IMO.

Okay so turned on ND-Pitt.. it’s 17-6 Pitt. Wouldn’t surprise me if ND comes back and gets [another] officials-assisted victory at home.

“Well now it’s time to see if we want to satisfy the fans’ bloodlust or rest the starters and keep them from being injured.”
Im gonna be quite frank. This is the perfect example of the loser mentality. You play scared, you will lose. There is a risk of injury in everything that we do. You can slip in the shower in the morning, you can fall down the stairs on your way to your car, you can get into a car accident, you can choke on your lunch, you catch my drift? You cant play scared, it wont get you anywhere.

So called football fans that say well this team scored this many on this team so this team must suck bc they scored this many. i am almost positive people who say that never played a lick in their life bc anyone who has played would never say that bc each week is different and teams match up different with each and where you play matters and injuries and a ton of things matter.

I didn’t say let up. The guys on the second string want to play just as bad and as hard as the starters.

It’s good to see some pressure taken off the defense. Murray has put some adrenaline in his game in the 2nd half and spreading the ball around well. These recruits must be having a great time too.Go Dawgs!!
