Live from UGA: Will we see a Cocktail Party hangover?

Athens – Let’s stipulate that Georgia cannot possibly be as energized for this week’s game as it was seven days ago. Let’s also stipulate that Georgia has more talent than Ole Miss and is playing at home. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Rebels took an early lead and held it awhile. It would, however, be positively stunning if Ole Miss led after four quarters.
It’s also worth noting that Florida, which lost to Georgia, trailed Missouri 7-0 at the half in Gainesville today. (Hey, wasn’t it just yesterday than even some Georgia fans considered Florida too good to lose?) But the Gators have since forged ahead 14-7. Which doesn’t mean they’ll hang on and win. It does, however, underscore the peril inherent in post-big-game blahs.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but motivation — especially the motivation of 20-year-old amateurs — is an ephemeral thing. The Bulldogs have had a week of being slapped on the back. (Surely some of those backslappers harbored private doubts pre-Jax.) It would be human nature to follow an impassioned performance with a lesser one. That said …
The longer games go, the less passion matters. Contrary to popular belief, games tend to be won by the team that plays better, as opposed to harder. Again we note that Georgia has better players, which leads us to predict: Georgia 31, Ole Miss 20.
But you know me. I’ve been wrong a time or two. I’ll be here to watch and report, and I’d appreciate your company. And I thank you, as ever, in advance.

I don’t know why everyone thinks Ole Miss is going to give UGA a scare. I just don’t think so. UGA has got their mojo back on defense and Murray will improve on offense and we’ll win this game. We have a goal in mind and we won’t stop now to get it.

I heard Will Muschamp say today that last week they “shot themselves in the foot” and referred to last week’s “self-inflicted wounds”…. Really? I thought they got run over by Hurricane Jarvis. They didn’t give the game away, they had it taken from them like little boys by some grown men.

@ No means NO, teams always say that when they turn the ball over and lose the game. “We gave the game away” is a favorite of theirs. Fact is, they hadn’t turned the ball over but 4 times heading into the game vs. UGA and turned the ball over 6 times against Georgia. What does that tell you? We took that game and didn’t give it back. Domination!

All I’m saying is we don’t need complacency and overconfidence, which often are the biggest enemies whey you’re coming off a huge emotional win and playing a heavy underdog. If you can’t understand that, then you should keep quiet and not continue to show your ignorance.

You gladhanding UGA fans are pathetic. You actually are trying to say that the ‘Dawgs NEVER once making a 3rd Down conversion against FL was some kinda testament to their offensive superiority??? They only scored off lucky interceptions, NOT offense brainiacs. FL would have tied had they not fumbled in the endzone on the last play.
