Whoa, Nellie. The skies are ominous above Philadelphia and Lincoln Financial Field. (Photo by M. Bradley)
Philadelphia — Nobody in the press box is discussing the game. Which does, you’d have to admit, look like a pretty good one. But the weather has superseded all.
It’s not raining at the moment. It’s cloudy, though, and the wind is picking up. The real heavy stuff from Miss Sandy isn’t scheduled — this assumes hurricanes hew to a schedule — to arrive until late tonight. Tomorrow and Tuesday are supposed to be the really rough days, and by that I mean really rough.
The forecast calls for intermittent rain throughout the day, which I guess is good for the Eagles. They have LeSean McCoy to run the ball against a Falcons defense that has trouble against the run, and the Falcons’ own running game remains mostly a memory.
Then again, Michael Vick does have trouble holding the ball on dry fields, and we shudder to think what might happen on a wet track. But what do I know?
Anyway, I’m happy to report that Team AJC — Mr. Ledbetter and I — are in the stadium, and we’ll endeavor to keep you apprised of all developments, meteorological and otherwise. I’d appreciate if you’d ride along, and I thank you, as ever, in advance.

I thought Griffin, III was league MVP?
I thought the Eagles were too good to lose today according to most of the known world?
Guess not.

Hey, I did not lose the game today. My defense did. Hell, forget the pushing them under the bus, give me the damn bus and I’ll drive it over them myselfs.
Ok, the numbers. No turnovers. QB rating today 82.7 Year 77.7 Lifetime 80.7 I am the most consistent marginal QB on the field for close to 10 playing seasons.
Thanks for your blind support.

I have been a Negative Nancy bout the Falcons for the past few years, but we are a top flight O lineman and a top flight D lineman away from MULTIPLE yes MULTIPLE SB wins…..Arthur gets what he pays for….I see a SB win within three years counting this one, easy.

Cowpokes will not be easy at all…..Romo is streaky and more bad history for the Falcons there. But they have steadily been erasing a lot of that bad history.
Ok Sid..let’s just enjoy this one for the moment…:-)

could’ve put em away right before halftime
could’ve put em away w/1st & goal at the 3
could’ve put em away with that 4th & 9
could’ve put em away holding the ball with 4:49
they hung on again, a good team 13 pts behind would’ve scored
and onside kicked, we could’ve lost this by 1, because we
CAN”T PUT TEAMS AWAY. One & Done, again.
Don’t get me wrong. Its a great team. But those of us that
were sitting in Fulco in ‘79, we’ve seen this befo.

old cliche: Teams take on the personality of their Head Coach.
But they can also take on the personality of their QB too.
Falcons got the same type guy in both… what’s Philly got?

Maybe Choke returned as St Simons? This is silly. We beat Philly on the road by two scores, in the wind and rain. I suspect St Simons does not watch much NFL football. And Phil — perhaps you are chanelling you inner Choke? Don’t be silly.

For all you Falcon haters not true fans. The Falcons just did what no team has ever done. Wrap your brains around that. No team had ever beat Andy Reid coached team after a bye (even during down years). Plus, they might have just sent Vick to the bench. I’ll take it, all your negative vibes can’t stop us. Rise up!

The players and coaches deserve full credit for this win–and they should spend two days celebrating–but no more…
It is absolutely essential that SOMEBODY start drawing up some running plays with high percentage of success–and more nifty screen plays–anything but Turner up the middle…
Reminds me of what Hank Stram (when he was a commentator) used to say about that famed Redskins running back, Riddle–”Diddle, diddle, diddle, Riddle up the middle…”
Or was it Riggins?

It’s negative. Every week all you negative fans come on here spouting your negative karma. Talking about how this is why we are going to lose today. I think fans like you are more disappointed when we win than if we would lose and you could say I told you so. Dwell on last year, I’ve been a Falcons fan my entire life… Last year is last year. It has no effect on this year. How many playoff games did Manning lose to begin his career? Did he cry and give up? No, not at all and I believe he turned out okay. Some of you are pathetic that you can’t enjoy a win. How many points did the Giants score on the Eagles? So get out of here with that weak mess!
