Lexington, Ky. – Two weeks after Georgia lost by four touchdowns in Columbia, the Bulldogs again have the opening they need. Yes, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. But if Georgia is good enough to beat you-know-who you-know-where next Saturday, the Bulldogs will stand atop the SEC East with only two winnable conference games (Ole Miss and Auburn) remaining.
Dept. of details: Georgia does need to beat Kentucky here tonight.
Dept. of reality: Georgia should beat Kentucky by 30 points.
Even if Kentucky were any good, I can’t imagine the Wildcats could stand with a Georgia team that’s coming off a bye and is sure to be enthused by the news that is Florida whipping South Carolina in Gainesville. Kentucky, however, is not any good. Even by UK standards, this is an awful assemblage. Its four SEC losses have come by 38, 21, 13 and 42 points. The 42-point loss at Arkansas was shortened to three quarters by a merciful thunderstorm.
Yes, I know that the Gator-Gamecock tussle isn’t officially over, but I’ve seen enough. Florida’s not losing today. South Carolina, which looked so good against Georgia, hasn’t looked the same since, and now the Gamecocks are pondering a rather epic slide: Could the same Chickens who were ranked No. 3 in the land only eight days ago wind up in Chick-fil-A Bowl?
And now you’re asking: If South Carolina wasn’t half as good as it l0oked against Georgia, what does that say about Georgia? Feel free to discuss among yourselves, while we await the 7 p.m. (or thereabouts) kickoff. And I thank you for your patronage.

Yall count how many times the defense gets the play in late or does not get the play in and kentucky snaps the ball while we are looking at the sidelines. it happens four to five times a game. count how many times we are not lined up on defense when the ball is snapped too bc grantham got the play in late. count how many times we get burned on a deep pass bc the secondary is confused on the coverage.

Either we have the worse coverage linebackers and secondary in college football or they dont understand the coverage bc we got hundreds of coverages and a zone coverage for every down and distance and every formation which is way to much. football is not that hard but nfl coaches are know for making it way to complicated. I think Todd Grantham needs to scale it back some or change something bc what we are doing is not working we give up to many yards and to many big plays and to many points to have probably the most talented defense in college football which has been stated by numerous sport show host and college coaches and nfl personel. We are loaded on defense but you would never know that if someone did not tell us bc we are always out of position. i am so tired of under achieving but many dawg fans are just fine with it. i dont understand and i dont think they realize how much talent we got on this team and we constantly do nothing with it.

Grantham coaches the linebackers whoever was asking i know he is jarvis jones position coach. yea the lb’s are getting caught in the wash in the middle and the rb is just running four or five yards befor a safety comes up and makes the tackle bc the lb is running himself out of the play.

One hundred-twenty years of tradition, first class facilities, top 10 recruiting classes, $5M coaching staff, and a huge athletic surplus each year…why are we struggling to beat Kentucky? And the beauty of all this is the very giant modifier IF the dimwits on campus finally find the testosterone to clean house and start a revamp of this disgrace of a program, they will find themselves competing for the attention of top tier talent against the Longhorns,Volunteers, and Tigers, who will also most likely also be in the market — all of whom have been better programs than we have for much of the past 2 decades. Had we manned up and pulled the plug on this trainwreck a year or two ago, we’d have been an attractive destination. Now, not so much, and just more time mired in medocrity. Everyone shoudl know that winning on the road in the SEC is always tough, however this Kentucky team is absolutely horrible. Yes they have played better than they have all year, even against Western Kentucky. But alot of this performance has to be laid right on the shoulders of UGA’s defense.
If UGA plays this way against Florida( I do not think they will) it will be just as bad as the Carolina game was today.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much, Dawg fans. Your team is up at the healf and has played pretty well on offense. They’re probably just looking-forward to the Florida game next week. Kentucky is the Wake Forest of the ACC (though not quite as good)…they sporadically play tough at times. Remember, Kentucky was beating South Carolina at the half and hung tough for three-and-a-half quarters.

Tennesee is playing with more intensity against the #1 team in the land than this unispired goup is playing against a team that has averaged 107 yds. on thr ground this season.
Did anyone watch UF’s defense today? I’m an alum, I drink the Kool-Aid year after year but I’m also a realist and the reality of the situation, as much as I hate to admit it is that this offensive line will get dismantled next week. Bobo’s redundant predictable, non-creative playcalling and the Lost Boys defense captained by their fearless leader will be made to look silly.
For the first time this year, if it’s a beautiful fall day, this game will be watched at a later time, preferably after a dozen Roosters wings, 3 or 8 drinks and a half bottle of Tums.

If Greg McGarity actually evaluates each coach after the performance during the year, what in the world has to be going through his mind this year? UGA should have pounded South Carolina…they are decent at best. Now basically getting beat by Kentucky the entire first half, and winning on a fluke 27 yard field goal? I am 37 and could kick a 27 yard field goal! Where has UGA progressed from last year? Can’t really say on offense because when we faced quality competition we did nothing. Then we struggle to score 16 against KY in one half. There is really only one solution to the problem because the situation never seems to improve, except in the pre-season. For the past few seasons my mindset is always, We’ll do better next drive, or We’ll do better next game, we’re just holding out, or We’ll do better next season, etc….. It never gets better, and I am afraid it never will. Now Scott and Eric are talking about what needs to happen in the second half. Scott mentioned 2 starters missing on defense for the second half. I don’t think it really matters who plays, the results seem to be the same…look at the first 4 games of the season!

I believe it is also our strength and conditioning program. Or lack thereof for that matter. Look at our D-line and look at their arms. A guy at work pointed out this and if you look it is just pure fat and skinny arms. The rest of the D looks like baby chimps arm wise. Bad coaching and no S and C. HP dawg, they are playing terrible against a poor injury riddled team. True dawg fans have lofty expectations and hate to see their university embarrassed. UGA football has a long proud tradition of playing quality football and that tradition is being tarnished by poor coaching and execution. If a player cant perform then he gets benched, if a coach cant coach he should be fired.

Adams is the problems for choking the recruiting on Coach Richt. If we don’t have Adams pointy head recruiting rules we have more talent stockpiled at Hargraves. And then the bad fans blaming Coach Richt when they not getting Adams fired to help Coach Richt. You look at roster and we don’t have enough Hargraves. That what Saban doing at Bammer. He got admin support to do rooster manegment and fire the players that is stinkys to bring in more talent. But we stuck with Adams cause bad fans blaming Coach Richt despite more Christian.

Soon will come the Mark Richt speech were he gathers the whole team around them and tries to motivate them only problem with this is that he does it everytime we are in a close game or when we have been getting murdered for three quarters and against south carolina it did nothing for us in fact carolina went ahead and had a nine minute fourth quarter touchdown drive after the great talk. This team does not respond at all to any of the coaches they just shut them out. i get so tired of seeing grantham scream about nothing it is his own fault that no one knows what they are doing out there when will he realize that.

After 32 years as a UGA fan I have come to realize what we’re seeing tonight is what Georgia football is under Richt. Forgetting to run the ball, dumb penalties, poor defense, poorly prepared teams that play down to their competition. They haven’t won a big game in, say, 4 years? They’re a top 25 program, maybe even top 15, but they’re not elite, they’re not at the top of the SEC, and they’re not a national power.

Okay, I can breathe again. Pretty sad that I had to wait till the fourth quarter to say that during the Kentucky game. But its nothing new for us. Even in our “good” years under Richt we have too effing many of these games that the kool aid drinkers forget when they just look at wins and losses. Anybody remember Vandy last year? How about Vandy in 2007? Or UAB in 2003? I could go on but all of us real fans don’t need the reminders.

I am curious. I get the whole “it is annoying listening to people complain”, but what positives do you take out of this game coming out of a bye week and going into the biggest game of the season?
Also, you guys DO realize that blogs, in any shape or form, are basically designed to house people to vent their frustrations. This isn’t usually the place to talk about how great things are and to smell the roses.
If the game was a blowout, most people wouldn’t feel the need to come on the internet to vent. We would all be relaxing, drinking a beer, and having a good time.
Tonight is not one of those times. So instead of throwing a fist through a wall, most people come on here to just vent.
Just let people vent and stop trying to make people smell the roses or drink the kool-aid.
