The team in blue is on the mind of Georgia, which plays a different team in blue tonight. (AP photo)
Lexington, Ky. – Two weeks after Georgia lost by four touchdowns in Columbia, the Bulldogs again have the opening they need. Yes, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. But if Georgia is good enough to beat you-know-who you-know-where next Saturday, the Bulldogs will stand atop the SEC East with only two winnable conference games (Ole Miss and Auburn) remaining.
Dept. of details: Georgia does need to beat Kentucky here tonight.
Dept. of reality: Georgia should beat Kentucky by 30 points.
Even if Kentucky were any good, I can’t imagine the Wildcats could stand with a Georgia team that’s coming off a bye and is sure to be enthused by the news that is Florida whipping South Carolina in Gainesville. Kentucky, however, is not any good. Even by UK standards, this is an awful assemblage. Its four SEC losses have come by 38, 21, 13 and 42 points. The 42-point loss at Arkansas was shortened to three quarters by a merciful thunderstorm.
Yes, I know that the Gator-Gamecock tussle isn’t officially over, but I’ve seen enough. Florida’s not losing today. South Carolina, which looked so good against Georgia, hasn’t looked the same since, and now the Gamecocks are pondering a rather epic slide: Could the same Chickens who were ranked No. 3 in the land only eight days ago wind up in Chick-fil-A Bowl?
And now you’re asking: If South Carolina wasn’t half as good as it l0oked against Georgia, what does that say about Georgia? Feel free to discuss among yourselves, while we await the 7 p.m. (or thereabouts) kickoff. And I thank you for your patronage.

Richt is safe since he doesn’t embarrass UGA off the field.
Just on it.

Pathetic. GA is going to get murdered by FL next week. After FL, GA will have lost to the only 2 quality teams they played this year. If Richt and crew don’t lose their jobs, I’m probably through as a fan until new leadership is hired.

There are obvious motivational problems with this group of coaches. You don’t get your butt whooped like they did two weeks ago and come out playing like this. Kentucky should be getting slaughtered right now.

I’ve said it before. What are defensive players drinking in the state of Georgia? UGA, Tech and Falcons are all HORRIBLE! Looks like a practice squad out there. The Wildcat scrimmages are more competitive than this!

Mark,
It’s believable to UGA fans in the know. This is a continuation of 6+ years of mediocrity. Only one thing will make it any different and that is to terminate the entire staff and start over.

If ever a team should have motivation to play it should be UGA tonight. If you can’t get up for this game then something is bad wrong. It is not a talent issue it is a motivation issue. Could you see Saban if this was happening to Bama?

Please cut the bs about Richt’s ethics. He is like Marjoe…

There is just no excuse for this pathetic joke of a defense. I gave Grantham a pass earlier in the year because we had the 4 suspensions. Now, though, they are ALL back, except for Jarvis Jones, and can’t stop anybody. Kentucky is embarassing us just as badly as South Carolina did. We gave this fat fool a RAISE?!?!?!? Show him the DOOR!

THIS defense makes me sick bc it was suppose to be our strength. i cant stand watching them play they are horrible. I am so sick of this bull crap. Grantham is the big problem here he is worse than bobo by far and i did not think this was possible but he is worse than grantham. ALL grantham does is scream at people how about fixing the problem.

Mark: Whatever the outcome of this game, this coaching staff needs to be called out and dressed down in a BIG way. This simply happens way too often. This (and several other games) should look more like the last Vandy game. We are outcoached and outplayed time and again.

Extraordinary. A sleepwalk. A good friend of mine who went to Florida told me recently that there has not been a good coach at UGA since Dooley. Well, I said . . . how do you answer that? Because at least underr Mr Dooley the team stayed in competition in virtually every game, Go figure. Im a Georgian way back, so this hurts.

They had an extra week to prepare for the worst team in the SEC East (one of the two worst in the entire league), and just look at the lack of effort, blown coverages, stupid false start penalties by the offensive line that can’t block anybody, etc. This just sucks.

More of the idiot named BOBO. Defense getting hammered, 2nd and 2 and he throws instead of buying his D some time.
Why don’t we run the ball against these guys? It will keep our D off the field and will wear the KY D down.
