Live from Lexington: UGA’s back in the ol’ SEC East chase

The team in blue is on the mind of Georgia, which plays a different team in blue tonight. (AP photo)

Lexington, Ky. – Two weeks after Georgia lost by four touchdowns in Columbia, the Bulldogs again have the opening they need. Yes, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. But if Georgia is good enough to beat you-know-who you-know-where next Saturday, the Bulldogs will stand atop the SEC East with only two winnable conference games (Ole Miss and Auburn) remaining.

Dept. of details: Georgia does need to beat Kentucky here tonight.

Dept. of reality: Georgia should beat Kentucky by 30 points.

Even if Kentucky were any good, I can’t imagine the Wildcats could stand with a Georgia team that’s coming off a bye and is sure to be enthused by the news that is Florida whipping South Carolina in Gainesville. Kentucky, however, is not any good. Even by UK standards, this is an awful assemblage. Its four SEC losses have come by 38, 21, 13 and 42 points. The 42-point loss at Arkansas was shortened to three quarters by a merciful thunderstorm.

Yes, I know that the Gator-Gamecock tussle isn’t officially over, but I’ve seen enough. Florida’s not losing today. South Carolina, which looked so good against Georgia, hasn’t looked the same since, and now the Gamecocks are pondering a rather epic slide: Could the same Chickens who were ranked No. 3 in the land only eight days ago wind up in Chick-fil-A Bowl?

And now you’re asking: If South Carolina wasn’t half as good as it l0oked against Georgia, what does that say about Georgia? Feel free to discuss among yourselves, while we await the 7 p.m. (or thereabouts) kickoff. And I thank you for your patronage.

I still say the dogs need to stick with Richt and Bobo, 9-3 or 10-2 most years is not that bad.

And that passive, scared punt return tells you everything you need to know about the Georgia Bulldogs!

This is possibly the worse team with a good record in Georgia history… I just wish that Richt would retire… He’s not a motivator or a winner… This staff couldn’t win in the C-USA… Kirby was right not to come here…It will be his job if he wants to be the HBC.

So glad Richt is among the top 10 highest paid college football coaches since he consistently delivers a top ten team. Talk about money well spent.

we have horrible special teams and you can tell that the head coach puts not emphasis on special teams cause the players dont seem to care or seem to take those plays off

I hate to say it but it has to be money. Are players on the take? How else to explain such a turnaround with so much talent?? An embarrassment.

Dogs can’t stop a running QB.

Because they pass rush up field which leaves the corners open. We should have our lineman tie up their lineman, then let the LB do the pass rush. Instead our ends blow up field leaving huge gaps.

I never wanted Richt to be fired.
But this game so far is another reason he should be fired.

I don’t care if we end up winning.
We look like crap.
The team doesn’t looked prepared.
It is as if every coach in the SEC has the perfect gameplan against us.
Shame.

Its hard for the team to get motivated when the head coach acts like Buddha on the sidelines…

Do you realize that UGA pays Richt more than $250,000 for every game that impersonates a Buddha on the sideline?

How do you feel about that?

Screw anyone that says as a fan I cannot voice my frustration over what has happened the last 4 years… I’ve long suffered with the Dawgs for over 30 years and I am sick of not winning like we should…I deserve a winner as much as they have made me suffer.

No way. Just guys that aren’t sure what they are supposed to be doing. So you have 11 guys playing D, instead of one unit playing D.

Why aren’t we seeing heavy running against this D. There is no way that pass happens against good teams.

Yall count how many times the defense gets the play in late or does not get the play in and kentucky snaps the ball while we are looking at the sidelines. it happens four to five times a game. count how many times we are not lined up on defense when the ball is snapped too bc grantham got the play in late. count how many times we get burned on a deep pass bc the secondary is confused on the coverage.

Agreed. That is why we can’t beat the good teams. We can’t ever run the ball against them. We should be using TE, FB and TB and pounding the ball. We don’t have to have 3 receivers in every play.
