Lexington, Ky. – Two weeks after Georgia lost by four touchdowns in Columbia, the Bulldogs again have the opening they need. Yes, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. But if Georgia is good enough to beat you-know-who you-know-where next Saturday, the Bulldogs will stand atop the SEC East with only two winnable conference games (Ole Miss and Auburn) remaining.
Dept. of details: Georgia does need to beat Kentucky here tonight.
Dept. of reality: Georgia should beat Kentucky by 30 points.
Even if Kentucky were any good, I can’t imagine the Wildcats could stand with a Georgia team that’s coming off a bye and is sure to be enthused by the news that is Florida whipping South Carolina in Gainesville. Kentucky, however, is not any good. Even by UK standards, this is an awful assemblage. Its four SEC losses have come by 38, 21, 13 and 42 points. The 42-point loss at Arkansas was shortened to three quarters by a merciful thunderstorm.
Yes, I know that the Gator-Gamecock tussle isn’t officially over, but I’ve seen enough. Florida’s not losing today. South Carolina, which looked so good against Georgia, hasn’t looked the same since, and now the Gamecocks are pondering a rather epic slide: Could the same Chickens who were ranked No. 3 in the land only eight days ago wind up in Chick-fil-A Bowl?
And now you’re asking: If South Carolina wasn’t half as good as it l0oked against Georgia, what does that say about Georgia? Feel free to discuss among yourselves, while we await the 7 p.m. (or thereabouts) kickoff. And I thank you for your patronage.

I just started drinking the Richt Kool-Aid. You guys are right, Richt is the greatest coach in the history of college football. Who cares that he pees in his pants for every “big game” in the last 5 years. Who cares that his teams are seldom prepared. Who cares that coaches down to the level of weaker teams that he should blow out. Who cares that he has as much NFL talent on his roster as anyone, yet can’t win the SEC anymore. We beat Vandy, and Kentucky and that’s good enough for me by golly.

Our O against UF’s O a push…our D against UF’s D…no comparison. This team is not KY. If we run for 59 yards, we won’t pass over 160. Until we recruit a capable O-line , we will get the same results. Besides the fact that I see the team having no heart on D. It’s like watching a bunch of mercenaries.

Notice that the kool-aid drinkers always tear down a strawman? They always insinuate that people that aren’t satisfied with Richt aren’t pulling for the team and want them to lose. One would be hard pressed to find any UGA fan that doesn’t want to win in JAX, including me. So please don’t use that argument. It doesn’t mean I don’t recognize that UGA is seriously under performing and in need of a coaching change.

I think it might motivate them and they might play better. That is how low my opinion of CMR has become. And it is your type that is the poor fan. Without fan pressure teams don’t win championships. Look at Bama. They fired Curry after winning the SEC and going 10-2 AND it was a good move. Bama fans don’t allow mediocrity, when championships are attainable. UGA has the resources to be the hunt every year. By accepting mediocrity you are LESS and that is a sin.

I started grad school at UGA in 99, which means I was in the stands for the end of the QCarter/JDonnan fiasco….and ANYONE who didn’t bet UK and the points is a COMPLETE MORON.
This crap has been going on for a decade or more. I love and have defended CMR, but when you have clearly superior talent and barely win (like tonight), or when you have equal talent and get your butt kicked (like last week), well…….
