Connor Shaw ran. He also passed. Not coincidentally, his team won. (AP photo by Brett Flashnick)
1. Aaron Murray didn’t exactly grab his star-making moment by the throat. Delivering a tipped interception on Georgia’s third snap was the worst possible start for the quarterback who still hasn’t presided over a victory against a team of substance. (Florida 2011 doesn’t count.) Murray had maybe his worst night as a Bulldog, completing 11 of 31 passes for 109 yards. In his defense, his line couldn’t block South Carolina’s defensive front. As offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said: “When a guy’s getting hit, he has a tendency not to trust his protection.”
2. The “Gurshall” groundswell got, er, grounded. Freshmen tailbacks Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall combined for 76 yards on 15 carries — this after each had 100-yard games against Tennessee. Again, the Gamecocks’ defensive line overpowered Georgia up front, often pushing blockers backwards into the guys for whom they were supposed to be blocking. “We couldn’t handle their ends,” Bobo said, and then this: “I thought we would be able to run the ball a little bit better.”
3. The Georgia defense didn’t trip the light fantastic, either. South Carolina gained 392 yards while throwing only 10 passes. (Six were completed, for a staggering 162 yards.) That’s what happens, said Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, when the running game works and you can throw off play-action at your leisure. The Gamecocks rushed for 230 yards — 109 by Marcus Lattimore, who had his third consecutive big game against Georgia, and 78 more by Shaw. “For us to get where we want to go, we’ve got to improve,” said Grantham, telling no lies.

You improve by recruiting offensive linemen who are strong enough and quit focusing most of your recruiting efforts on skill position players. Also, a tough minded head coach would help.

Looks like other schools recruit big-framed linemen and get them over 300 pounds by sending them to the weight room. Looks like Georgia recruits big-framed linemen and gets them over 300 pounds sending them to the Old Country Buffet.

I seriously hope UGA does listen to all the blogosphere and fire CMR, because he does own us. It just amazes me that the coach staff can get them ready for all the other games, but the ones that count… They get COMPLETELY overmatched, in all aspects. This had to be the one game that UGA had to have circled in bright red she the season started. All the other games UGA should dominate this year.

Notice how we are LOADED at the receiver position. It’s because we are a finesse team, and always have been under Richt. He is more concerned with having a multitude of receivers to throw to in lieu of having a deep, and strong offensive line.
Championship caliber teams are built at the line of scrimmage. Once you’ve got that nailed down, you get your quarterback, some good running backs, full backs, tight ends (which goes with the line), and then you go after you receivers. Richt and Bobo’s way of thinking, coaching, and recruiting does not work. It’s that simple, and until we get a coach that understands that, we will be average at best.
Don’t forget that we one 1 of our 2 SEC championships under Richt with Donnan’s players. At that time, we had big aggressive lineman, and we had depth. We won our 2nd SEC championship on the arm and legs of DJ.
It’s been 7 years of being average since, and I can promise all you blind, homer, cool aid drinkers that it will not change until Richt is fired. I wish it wasn’t true because I love my DAWGS, but I also want what is best for them, and Richt is not it.

If our world continues to spiral downward to a European socialist country then we can only blame ourselves for putting the same leader back in the White House that is trying to turn us into a socialist country. Back to football. Spurrier cannot take credit for building SC into a winner. Just tell him “You Didn’t Build That –Someone Else Did That*. Without the State of Georgia giving you players you could not have built that team. That’s a joke, son. From the ashes the Dawgs will rise again to conquer the SEC

Number 7: College football is not only about winning, but also economics. As Georgia’s mediocrity continues, season ticket holders will further tire of paying for a lousy home schedule and watching a team that gets clobbered by good teams. Revenue will fall. Fans will be content seeing Georgia play on SEC TV and ESPN Alt 55 rather than CBS. And be grateful after the game they aren’t fighting to get out of Athens.

Same stuff over and over. Lose to a ranked team and we need to recuit better, we need to improve strenght and conditioning, etc. We always win non important games because will have talent.
When big games(ranked) come along, to win those you have to have talent( Ga has that) then
you have to coach them( Ga not) and have discipline( Ga does not). Discipline means run the proper route, use the correct blocking technique, fall into correct coverage, etc.
But I believe Ga will get to Atlanta again. Schedule will allow.
When it all settles what we have is a talented group of DOGS!

Last year UGA dominated SC and lost by turnovers and a fake punt but still should have won the game. This year SC dominated UGA and should have won. UGA didn’t back into the SEC East last year because they were the better team that blew a game to an inferior team. This year if UGA wins the East then I might be more inclined to agree about them backing into it unless SC loses two or more games, Just remember my down-hearted friends it is just a football game and doesn’t count toward eternal life. Although Carolina dominated on all fronts, I have to wonder how much of the “little things” really made the difference. Here is a quote from Clowney, which would explain how he was in the backfield so quickly all night:
He said Murray was tapping the center’s leg before snaps to signal for the snap:
“The offensive line gave away when they were going to hike the ball, so I got a good jump on it and our crowd got into it.”
Wouldn’t you think a player or coach would have clued in on this at some point??

I’ll tell you what’s behind in this program v. other schools. The COACHING. You can recruit 3-5 star players year after year, and we do, and then this is the result, year after year. Mediocre against teams we should dominate against. Or at least be able to compete against. Discipline! This team still has none! Love the shot Spurrier took at the team saying ” I like playing them early because you can count on players beimg suspended”! Whats sad is that our D stars did nothing to show that they were elite players! Clowney make #72 look like Sam Baker from last years Eagle/Falcon game. He did what he wanted to do all night.
Bobo you dont get a pass! How about killing the blitz with a screen pass and not that screen you tried to throw 10 times with each time showing it was not working!
Heres an idea….how about the head Coach finally getting some discipline on this team so when you have all this talent it can be coached!
Just like the year you had so much talent on offense…..you end up laying an egg!
We are tired of the home teams getting drilled in big games!

The last time UGAly had a game of this magnitude was in 2008 against Alabama. Back then, the Richt led bulldogs looked like they had no game plan, were flat & were obliterated. Hell, they were more concerned about the jersey color they would wear to the game.
Well, last night, jersey color wasn’t an issue. However, UGAly provided the same results in all other categories. They appeared to have no game plan on offense, were flat & totally out-manned (so much for the vaunted strength program!).
Murray is not, & will never be, a big time QB capable of leading his team to a significant win. When you have a porr offensive line, 6 ft quarterbacks can’t take 3 step drops & throw the ball.
The most venom should be leveled at Grantham. He draws a huge salary and has done NOTHING to earn it. No pass rush, no [pass coverage & no run defense. He has duped the always gullible bulldog crazies!!
The good thing for UGAly is that they only play one more ranked team. Because they are now 2-18 against ranked teams since 2008, that means they will finish the season at 10-2. They may even be able to back into another SEC East title!! They can then get THUMPED by Alabama! YIPEE!!! The ever gullible bulldog crazies will be all excited & once again, they will say how great things are in Athens & then they will get the same load of crap next year!
Its to bad UGAly can’t just play unranked teams. They would be National Champs every year! Oh yea, nice brown spots all over UGA IV … thanks alot Seilers!!

Its becoming painfully aware that Richt will never win a big game, he just cant get teams motivated for big games and its time for him to leave, there is not any way to spin this since the team looked lost, the blame for this falls squarely on the shoulders of Richt.
Get him out of here, he needs to be coaching at a small time school motivating 2-3 star recruits, he cant handle 5 star recruits.

Ok, we have a good, not a great team. 1st – the loss of Bennett(WR), really hurts. He was probably the heart of the team when it came to blocking and catching the ball. He hardly ever missed a ball thrown in his direction. 2nd – we perhaps have a bunch of all-stars playing D but they do not play well as a team. Our OL is young and inexperienced and will struggle at times. Lastly, South Carolina, admit it, is loaded. They are very talented on O, D and special teams. If they avoid injuries, it would be a great game between them and Alabama!

The fans have no confidence, the team has no confidence, and that comes from a coaching staff that always plays to just try to do enough to win by one point. That is why every game is an adventure. It seems like we’re always playing to be one game over 500 or just good enough to keep a job for one more year. Even scoring 50 points a game, which one of the five wins were you comfortable that we were better and there was no way we were going to win? You have to be a fired up, well oiled machine to be consistent in the game of football. I keep thinking that there will be that one game that sets this coaching staff off and get’s them to come into games with attitude, but I’m no longer holding my breath. South Carolina has a great team, and they made Georgia look clueless. I just didn’t see a Georgia team with even a spark.

As so it continues……last year UGA was an underdog three times…..UGA lost all three games….last year UGA was favored 11 times….UGA won 10 of 11, losing only to MSU in the bowl game…….this year UGA has been an underdog once…..UGA lost…..UGA has been favored five times….UGA has won five times.
UGA wins the games it is supposed to win and loses the games it is supposed to lose. UGA will never be a nationally competitive program until UGA can win games it is not supposed to win.
UGA still will most likely be favvored in its remaining games with the possible exception of UF. UGA will most likely win the remainder of its games with the exception of UF. UGA will mostly likely play in the Tampa or Orlando bowl unless these bowls think they can sell more tickets to someone else (thousands upon thousands of empty seats last year against MSU).
The good news is that UGA will most likely be favored to beat the Big Ten team.
And the band plays on……l.

This is exactly what I was talking about last year when they re-did CMR contract. Why? He ran off 10 wins against weak opponents, but lost the three games that mattered. Sigh… Instead of rewarding mediocrity a 1 year extension was in order. Earn the the fat extension by beating somebody (anybody!) you weren’t supposed to… UGA was so worried that some other school would sweep in and steal Richt. I say THAT was a risk worth taking…. Someone said its hard to fire a coach that goes 10 and 2—-but you can fire him before he gets to 10 and 2—right?—Hey it may suck for a fews years afterwards but UGA should hire an SEC based type coach—–someone that has the experience playing like Spurrier and were good at what they did. But that is what Florida did and look at them now——Richt is just an average coach because he was an average player——and he came out the ACC—–so there it is folks—And that contract stuff can be worked out——-you let em go and then you hire lawyers to put off paying him for 5 years and MOVE ON!!!!!

Okay, I love the team and our players. It’s all about them. When there is superior talent and better coaching the lessor team will always lose. Fact is I’ve been a Georgia fan for 48 years and the only reason I can’t stand Coach Spurrier is because he is a GREAT coach. Give him and his coaches CREDIT for the preparation, adjustment, and motivation given to their players to play a GREAT game. I do not understand why CMR just stands on the sidelines with headphones on and never says a word. Worse, I didn’t see any ADJUSTMENTS, MOTIVATION, or PREPARATION with our team. I would like an apology from CMR to the fans and national television audience who had to endure this total embarrassment of a game. The only quote from CMR should have been, “I take full responsibility for my coaching staff’s total lack of PREPARATION and MOTIVATION of our players in this HUGE loss. Yes, we are fans, but we still deserve to know why this happened. GO DAWGS

Long story short. Dawgs got dominated and were overrated to begin with after chalking up gaudy stats against horrile teams- including Tenn. Gurshall got exposed against a good D, so did Murray, the whole team just got whupped. Its bad when the opponent only has to throw the ball 10 times in 1 game.

I have been saying it since 2008- while Mark Richt is a great man, he is NOT a great D1 Head Coach! 0-10 against ranked opponents. But UGA gets what it deserves- when they gave him a 5 yr extension for an obscene salary, what do you expect? He will NEVER be a great Head Coach- it’s not in him, sadly. Even as a UGA grad, I can honestly say that this result should come as no surpise to anyone. And the committment to medicrity will continue in Athens. So don’t act surprised.

Lou Holtz said before the game that Lattimore and Shaw combined would outrush “Gurshall” (you Dawgs should retire that one along with the black jerseys) and it turns out he was too conservative in his prediction. Lattimore and Shaw both outrushed Gurshall individually.
When South Carolina got Georgia to jump offsides on 4th and 1 in the 4th quarter, as if Spurrier was going to go for it on his own 20 up by 4 touchdowns, it was classic Spurrier and classic Georgia. Spurrier knew who he was coaching against, and his smirk and first down gesture after Heisman Candidate Jarvis Jones jumped was hilarious.

Last year, UGA lost the 4 big games they played…BUT the 10 wins against weak opponents got the UGA fans into a frenzy….then, the Kool-Aid continued through spring practice and into the fall…then, UGA starts beating bad football teams, and UGA fans are thinking National Championship…
Through the first 5 games of the year, there have been plently of obvious signs that a letdown was coming…bad special teams play….UGA’s weak D-line…UGA getting gashed on the run by inferior teams…but UGA fans didn’t want to hear it. They talked about “how this UGA team is just different” and “the chemistry on this team will lead them to greatness” and “I expect UGA to play much better this week…” The problem, as is now clear, is that UGA fans continue every year to be unrealistic about their team.
I had a UGA fan complain to me this week about how UGA wasn’t getting any respect from the National media. I told him that UGA needs to focus on winning their games, and the respect will come. He kept arguing that UGA should be ranked higher in the polls…he also couldn’t stop talking about the SEC CG that UGA was going to win against Alabama…and how he thought UGA would play Oregon for the NC. I tried my best to talk to him about the areas where UGA needed to improve, but he wouldn’t listen. It’s sad that many other UGA fans are the same way.

I said it before the season started. There is no one to replace the OL that left. Our OL is our weakness. Along with Bobo’s obvious play calling. Our over rated, suspended pot head defense is not doing anything this season. It starts in the trenches. The dawgs are not bringing in players to replace the players leaving. Its cool to have 2 great RBs. It is not cool to have no OL to block for them. CMR will lose atleast 4 games this season. Auburn, Kentucky, Ga tech and especially Florida all have a great chance to beat Uga. This could be CMR’s last season. I love him as a person. His soft coaching is not getting it done in the SEC. I love the way CMR is committed to his family and god. MR in not a hard nosed, beat me in the trenches, disciplinary coach. How many yrs do Ga fans have to put up with this crap? Alabama and other teams get the players they need to fill the gaps in at every position. Uga always has OL needed. DL needed. Out of CB’s. etc. How long does it take to put together a Program that can compete in the SEC every year. Vandy hung with SC. Kentucky hung with SC for a few qurters. As overhyped as Georgia was, South Carolina is under hyped. The announcers yesterday were treating the South Carolina team as if they were unranked beating a top five team, “hope they can handle it, everybody is now looking at them”. They should have been looking at them before, Latimore should be the lead guy for the Heisman, Clowney should be the number one defensive player in the draft over Jones of Georgia.
When Bradley is giving Spurrier hell about kicking a hack out of the press conference, I think this shows the problem, the hack was too busy chasing Spurrier and not writing about the substance of this team. Writing bad ink about Spurrier is a cheap way to get an audience, everybody outside South Carolina hates the guy, mainly because of hack reporting. The AJC is the Fox Network on this subject, so bias they become nasty, especially Tony B. You got a special team in South Carolina, word of this team has been kept secret, yet people watching closely knew this team was this good. Georgia really showed up reading their own press clipping that were fiction and seeing very little on USC because the writers were concentrating on how much they hate Spurrrier.

Richt has done that every year and will keep this job for life. Meaning as long as JoePA.
Meanwhile the media is dumb enough to vote UGA a preseason top 10 every year and the natives always believe it.

One Stark Contrast: UGA, no Aaron don’t leave the pocket. Good QBs trust their lines no matter what. SC: UGA has a great rush, and you will have to leave the pocket Connor. Don’t get hurt. That was the biggest difference in the QBs. Just turn Murray loose and the guy can win it with his legs. Why do you think we modified our defense opening the runs and passes? Because we had to honor Shaw’s legs. We are playing one of the top rushing Ds, we have to be ready. Pitiful.

Mark,I have been doing a lot of thinking about just this question since last night. We are a mediocre program and have been for several years. Just look at Richt’s record against ranked teams over the last several years. They put that graphic up last night on the telecast and it shocked me at how futile our efforts have been. Further I believe we will continue to be a mediocre team and program until Mark Richt is gone. I have not been a Richt basher like some of our brethern but I think that he has brought us as far as he is capable of taking us. In order for us to go to the next level and become an elite team and program we need to hire a new young coach with fire in his belly and a vision as to how we can win a championship. And don’t even get me started on Bobo. Just another no decision that Richt hasn’t been able to make like not firing Martinez until it was almost too late. I like Mark Richt as a peron and I admire his Christian principles but he is not the man to win us a national Championship. If it was not to be this year then when? Are we going to be satisfied forever with 10 win seasons and an annual trip to the Capital One Bowl to play the Big 10? I hope not.

Steve Spurrier and his staff completely out classed Richt & Co. While Richt’s recruiting classes always rank higher, Spurrier & Co. coach their players up much better, expect more excellence, demand more, game plan better, and produced a much better team.
Georgia has the same old weaknesses as ever. They are too undisciplined, get too many penalties, give up big plays on special teams and wilt when the pressure is on. As usual Richt’s Dawgs have proven to be just another pretender. That starts at the top!

The running game wasn’t anything special for the Gamecocks early on. They scored two TDs on the first two drives because the Dawgs were totally focused on Lattimore and nothing else. So, in reality, the mere threat of Lattimore was enough for the Dawgs to blow assignments and allow the Gamecocks to get those two TDs. It was 21-0 shortly thereafter and the game was over because the Dawgs had no guts. The end.

If you don’t think that team last night was good enough to win, not saying they will, Alabama is really good too, the national championships, then you are strictly under the spell of journalism, where things never change, no investigative reporting just stick with yesterdays information. No matter how over hyped and under produce, those Gamecocks could line up against anybody and win. Now we are seeing a lot of the SEC hot air rise Florida, who plays about the same schedule as Georgia. I think the only real challenge Spurrier has is Alabama who they have beaten before, and that won’t come till the championship game, which may still allow them to play for the national championship.

One of the TV announcers said it right; Richt just stands there expressing no emotion and the players follow the head coach’s lead. How can they get fired up if the head coach isn’t? Richt looks like a mannequin in a discount clothing store – and coaches about that well. Weak coaching ability, no leadership, no discipline. Replace him and Boo Boo immediately and start building for next year. Richt is a failed coach.

How about Columbus? ARdawg?
Tell us again how “Richt has righted the ship.”
Tell us again how “SC doesn’t have a chance, and Spurrier is overrated.”
Not only do we STILL get beat in every game with a good team, we get BEATDOWN.
But what the hey, one more beatdown to go, then it’s back on easy street.

We got dominated on the LOS – both sides of the ball. What does Saban have EVERY year on his lines… MONSTERS. They grade the road for the RBs and stuff the line for opposing RBs. And what do we have an issue with EVERY year… OL and DL. Richt doesn’t value those positions and we get eaten alive when it matters.
It’s time for a change.

When they have your number, coach, come up with a different play! Why would you just line up and humiliate your offensive line that hasn’t blocked SC all night? Quick slant? Preplanned scramble? Screen pass? Try Malcome occasionally? He can block and he is the proven runner in tough yardage, big game scenarios. Quick swing passes to fast backs on slow LBs? No, up the gut and straight pocket passing was the only answer we had. Murray runs as well as Shaw, and he throws much better. I wonder what Spurrier could have done with him?

Any ranked team can lose a game. It’s not that we all get so frustrated when the dawgs lose, it’s how they lose that hurts. They play unfocused, undisciplined, undercoached, and lack “fire in the belly”. And, while we’re on the subject, what has happened to the Defense that was like the ole junkyard dogs in 2010 and 2011? Did Mark Richt tamp down Todd Grantham’s emotions so much that now the Defense is a shadow of it’s previous self?

The Truth is right. UGA lost at both O and D lines so they lost the game. Shaw had all day to throw and Murray had nearly no time to throw.
Our O line was pushed back all night and couldn’t open a crease for the running game.

Why didn’t we try something different? Why stick with failure? We could have tried Malcome. He was the only back who could run on LSU last year. We forgot to put him in until late. A quick swing pass to a fast back on a slow LB? A screen? Let Murray scramble and run like Shaw? Spurrier negated our rush with that trick. Humiliating. Pathetic. Predictable.

It was pretty clear that the running game wasn’t working, but we never made adjustments and kept with it anyway. Well, EXCEPT when we needed three yards for a touchdown and decides to pass on 3rd and goal and 4th and goal. We were averaging three yards per run, and had just gotten a three or four yards up the middle.

Offensive and defensive coordinators need to be replaced NOW!!!!!!!!! UGA has the quality players to get the job done, Just sorry coaching. I predict that if Richt does not get rid of the problem. UGA will. They will fire Richt just to get rid of all the coaches. Then UGA will have to start over and probably hire Derek Dooley and another 5 -8 years of loosing.

Jarvis Jones silent on twitter thus far. Feel so bad for him and most of our other players. You put trust in your coaches that your practice and scheme has prepared you for what you will face. Our coaching staff did them wrong. Our D was lost and out of place. Our offense was… well, I was wondering if Mike Bozo was drinking upstairs. Gates is a good player, but he needed more help and Bozo didn’t give it to him. You can’t expect a freshman RB like Marshall, as talented as he is, to be able to pass protect consistently.

I beat up on UGA last night, not because of Richt, Grantham or the players. I beat up on UGA because some fans who think they know college football and do not have a clue come on here and speak like they are Vince Lombardi clones.
The facts are that UGA is playing under an ACC type system that has not won since the early 2000’s and late 90’s. The SEC is a power league that relies on defenses stopping the run, and putting pressure on the quarterback. UGA has not done either when playing the big games against big opponents for several years.
UGA recruits top tier talent and does not coach them well enough and instill into them that this is a team sport not about individual accomplishments. That is as well wrong is Richt’s problem for not placing the program into developing players.
Finally, expecting True Freshmen to come in be ALL Stars is not going to help your program develop if you keep expecting those type of players to contribute early.

Look, get off the cupcake schedule crap. They ALL play cupcakes. That’s not why we lost last night. Sprurrier gets it. Richt and company don’t. It’s going on 4 seasons since we lined up and beat a real good football team. I’ll always love the dawgs, but I’m done emotionally keeping up with them. 3 more important points:
1. Richt is lazy and is consistently outcoached and outsmarted by the opposition.
2. Richt consistently makes excuses for bad play, doesn’t care if we win or lose, and says dumb things like “at least we all played bad” that indicate his indifference to excellence.
3. FIRE MARK RICHT.

The answer is this: complacency.
Other programs (like Alabama, LSU and Florida) demand EXCELLENCE. UGA fans are complacent and only demand NICENESS.

Anybody with a DVR, watch in slow motion how the Georgia defensive line got completely, utterly manhandled in this game. Watch the first TD pass by SC. Two guys got spun around and started going backwards halfway through the play. It looked like they weren’t even trying. Is it possible they threw the game? Of course, that is ridiculous. But it looked like it the way we played. The offensive line was pretty manhandled as well.

So Spurrier is going for that last dig and he goes for it on his own 20 late in the game and up by about 5 TDs. Did you see the look of disdain and derision on Visor’s face when our guys fell for his trick. Not only did he utterly humiliate a much better Georgia team by outcoaching them and beating them by a mile, he rubbed Grantham and Richt’s face in it running up the score and going for it on fourth down like it was a life and death moment! And, he still gets away with the suspension gigs and saying UGA is his whipping boy.

I will wait and see what happens; not the rest of the season, or the SEC title, only if CMR is still there after another blatant disregard for our school’s great heritage. If so, then after almost 50 years of support I will be bailing and changing my colors. At least ANY OTHER TEAM in the FBS will show heart, courage, discipline, and willingness to fight. We do none of those things anymore, and haven’t for quite awhile. I do believe that CMR will be there for a very, very, very long time – it’s just the way the school’s president is. We saw that when he tossed everybody aside including Vince. I don’t see it changing unfortunately, other schools take pride in their football programs, the upper echelon of Georgia could care less, as long as the money keeps rolling in. What a complete disgrace this program has become.

Sometimes a trick play, or doing something really different can change momentum. I just saw defeat on our faces. Pathetic. Coach, start cheering, call time out and give a pep talk, or do something to change the battle. Don’t stand there with a look of defeat. The players feed off of you. Let Murray call the plays if you and Bobo are failing. Do something to change the pace.

I heard from my brother that the CBS announcer stated that “Gillislee could not win the game” vs. LSU…..and then Gillislee spent the entire 3rd and 4th quarters doing just that…with the help of an overpowing Florida OL. Then, he said nothing at all about it as Gillislee was doing it…..until the game was over. CBS needs to replace those two for SEC games.

I agree with other fans that maybe it’s time to change colors. I really want EXCELLENCE, and what I get is MEDIOCRITY. And the fans don’t give a rip. I’m the only one yelling “FIRE MARK RICHT” in the stands, and other fans just shake their heads because they, frankly, don’t give a rip. They just want to get drunk and have a good time. Who cares if we win or lose?
I really admire programs and fans that demand EXCELLENCE. I’ve never had an axe to grind with Alabama, and they consistenly demand excellence. After 40 years of being a mostly disgusted Dawg fan (especially the last 23 years), maybe it’s time to switch to a program/team that really cares.

So many of you forget that SC beat you last year…..and so many of you wanted to immediately fire Richt and his entire coaching staff….and then they went on to win the East….and Richt was the greatest coach in college football with so many years in a row winning so many games…..and then you lost to LSU….and MSU…..and you wanted to fire Richt and staff again. Then….the summer came….and Richt recruited well….and he and Grantham once again took the right hand seat next to the football gods…….and Georgia was a certainty to win the SEC and NC this year…..and it continue with thrashings of Buffalo and Florida Atlantic….but ignored the warnings of the Tennessee game…..and predicted a stomping of a terribly coached and overrated SC team…..but now….it is back to firing your head coach and entire coaching staff….along with your AD…..again…..until….Georgia thrashes Kentucky next week….and then Richt and company will be back on the championship road once again. Nope….Georgia fans are not bandwagon friends…..no way.

I hate losing to SC because I hear about it immediately from my sister. Honestly I thought we were going to be National Champs. I’m not sure what it is or why we haven’t won one since 1980 but I’m bummed. We’ve had three coaches (I think) since Dooley. Who are we supposed to rteplace CMR with? Also why do we put so many players into the NFL versus other teams? I don’t see a lot of SC players in the NFL. Am I wrong? At least when you leave football, and you get your degree from UGA, you can get a decent job. I graduated in 1989 and I have never hurt for money or a job…football was bad during those Golf years but I thank UGA for the degree. Good school – absolutely, above average football team-absolutely, national championship NOT!

Too much focus on extracurricular activities has to be apart of the problem. We’ve changed defensive coaches more than once. Richt has called the plays, Bobo has called the plays. But the results have been the same under the same head coach. There’s something really missing in this program. Obviously wins against ranked team has been missing for years. If we don’t win the East this season then it may be time for change. But who are we going to get that assures us that we aren’t set back for years and we have to suffer a rebuild? I still think that being ranked #4 is too high for the Gators right now. But the defense is one of the best right now….if not the best….in the country…..along with SC and Bama and LSU. Strange Murphy, I don’t think “clueless” is the right word. I think his ego gets in his way – like he, himself, can “fix things.”
Hence, no ST’s coach, no new blood in his staff – EVER. Make the video-director the strength-director, give the former strength-director a created job, give un-productive assistants $100,000 raises!
And here we are, O-line getting man-handled, RBs missing blocks, SC’s QB talking about our weaknesses BEFORE THE GAME, and Richt saying our special teams are SOLID!
I am fully aware Richt is a “Big-time Christian” and a “good man” and all, but I would get tickled to death to get a UGA head coach is DRIVEN to win, and routinely beats his opponents’s head coach on the sideline, even if he throws his visor, kicks over a water cooler, and says the F-WORD right in front of the cameras!
Forgive me but I don’t want my Sunday School teacher coaching one of the top-3 in net income, football programs in the country. I want my SS teacher teaching my Sunday School class!
And leave the coaching of the UGA Bulldogs to a football coach, you know, one who likes studying “cutting edge football” ALL THE TIME. Not just when he thinks his job is at stake.
UGA deserves better than this.

Tampa Gator I actually said it after the UT game, but that’s okay.
And yes, our entire team has been exposed – and thankfully, of the teams remaining on our schedule, only UF has the horses to actually exploit our weaknesses – UF.
It will be a relatively easy game for the Gators, as you can defense us at least as easily as SC did. And we both know what your OC can bring to the table – we saw it first hand at the Dome last year, with probably half the talent.
Y’all have a QB who doesn’t choke when on the big stage, and I believe you will squeak past SC in the Swamp, and get in the SECCG.

I do know Carolina has won a total of 4 bowl games, the 1st one in 1996, carquest bowl. Weve had a total of 2 seasons where we won 10 games or more, the 1st one in 1984, the second, last year. It is the Gamecocks time, dont make it seem like you are nothings because you lost to the Gamecocks, cause you are not. That was the best 1st quarter I have ever seen a team play. @ Earl. Who was running the ball was not the problem. Nobody can run the ball when the O-line is getting their tails whipped every play. That’s the #1 problem these past 4-6 years. We get beat in the trenches against every quality opponent we play because we’re not tough enough in there, we’re not properly trained in techniques or disciplined in assignments. Pile overall coaching ineptitude on top of that and you get 0-10 against quality opponents or whatever the stat is.

The dawgs were thoroughly out coached in every phase of the game. UGA has the talent except for the OL. Bobo was again exposed as an ineffective OC who is looks good against teams like coastal Carolina and bottom dweller SEC teams but his play calling is simply awful against ranked teams. The defense has no answer against a highly mobile quarterback. Shaws scrambling and elusiveness totally befuddled Granthams defensive sets. At a minimum Richt needs to dump bobo and should have done that after the michigan State game but that isn’t going to happen. All the great recruiting isn’t going to win without effective coaching on both sides of the ball.

I am so tired of seeing our linebackers and secondary standing around fightiing with each other over who has what zone who has what man meanwhile the other team snaps the ball it has happened every game this yr and that is no one’s fault but granthams. His second and third level defenders are so confused every game we have given up a td to a wide open receiver bc they ran crossing routes and confused our already confused secondary. Every td pass we got rambo and williams pointing fingers at somebody. No one in the secondary knows who to cover either they are not smart players or grantham is trying to make playing defense into rocket science. This is what the offense can do run left or right or up the middle and they can pass do you need a playbook the size of a dictionary to stop that I hate coaches who make football harder than it should be

Georgia is one of the top 5 states in producing high school recruits and sending players to the NFL. Its population is a half-million MORE than Alabama and South Carolina COMBINED. This just means there are probably more potential recruits in GA than AL and SC together. GA has 1 SEC school. AL and SC have 3 SEC schools competing for that talent. Atlanta is the largest media market in the South. With all this in GA’s favor, it ain’t the talent, or it shouldn’t be. Especially with Tech’s program in decline.

No doubt the Old Ball Coach gave Mark Richt a lesson in Big Gama Coaching 101.
UGA has some fine talent no doubt and they’re not as bad as last night while USCe isn’t as good as they appeared. Most of you hit the nail on the head when you say/think that football doesn’t mean the workd to Mark! Many of you like to throw rocks at Nick Saban (some would be ok but not all the time) but the fact the man works 24/7/365 to build a team that will play the game all out and with a purpose and standard. I have watched UGA and they only play well when things go well and most any team can do that. When sheet happens then they fold so easy. Jones quit on you last night just incase you haven’t determined that yet!!!! He quit and the NFL folks saw that as well. #18 and #19 are thugs yesterday, today, and tomorrow and they have no dayum fear of the coaching staff and that is so clear that anybody including your sunshine pumpers. UGA will finish 10-2 and have a good bowl but you haven’t fixed a thing.
UG Gators are on the road back to command of the East no doubt. Will does need to get a handle on a couple of his gators for their conduct. It will not surprise me if LSU plays UF again in Atlanta. You what’s funny? That bum Coach BooBoo, after all of that praise some idiots were giving him, just admitted in the article above he has no fffing clue what to do. There are times throughout a football season when the opposing team’s defensive front is more physical than yours, your QB gets hit more often than usual, turnovers, tipped passes, etc. Yet good coaches know how to adjust to adversity and make adjustments, both in game and during practice and still find ways to win games. Look at the masterful coaching job Muschamp and his staff did yesterday. LSU was simply outcoached. But LSU is over rated anyway (just a lil bit) because they have no offense to speak of for 4 years running. Georgia’s coaching staff has absolutely no clue what to do when ONE THING GOES WRONG. All you hear and/or read is IF, IF, IF, IF, IF, this or that and the other.
The last point I would like to make is the fan’s perception of the 2012 Georgia Bulldogs was all wrong for jump street. This is a finesse coach and therefore you are going to have a finesse team and mindset. There is nothing wrong with that approach, just be good at what you do. How dare we fans think of the defense first when it comes to this team? Under CMR, Georgia has never been a tough, defensive, grind it out kind of team. Heck, they have never been really explosive on offense except for a few games. Finesse teams need to score early, often, and in a variety of ways in order to help set up the defense. CMR has never had a defense first mentality, so why were we all so delusional to think it changed now? In less than two years, Muschamp has managed to change Florida from a Fun n Gun mindset, which they had for the last 22 years, to a win it in the 4th quarter, grind it out, kind of team. In Nick Saban’s SEC, this is the only way to win in this league until he retires, dies, or loses his touch.

The two frshmen backs and malcome ran hard and never quit which is refreshing. The two young backs had no blocking but they ran it hard and I saw gurley on the sideline trying to wake up the veteran players but they acted like they could care less. The defense gave up in the fourth quarter they had a nine minute drive on us. Murray said he did not sleep the three days leading up to the game which means he had already been beat in his mind and his team mates could see that. They showed him in warm ups and he had a look in his eyes that said I am scared as hell. I told my buddy we are about to get killed especially when they showed that crowd. Got to give it to the carolina fans that’s was a great atmosphere and it scared our guys. We looked gun shy or something very timid. Our guys let another man just physically overwhelm them. That says a lot about a man when you don’t fight back when somenone is just stopping ur stuff in the dirt. No heart.

Gomer pyle mcgarity made sure richt isn’t going anywhere anytime soon when he gave him a contract extension last year. This goofy and dumb ad and administration has made sure uga fans will suffer for years to come. I have resided myself to this fact and have quit purchasing uga gear or will not attend anymore games until the day richt is finally gone.
I finally learned my lesson last year after the boise st game not to get excited about anymore unprepared and listless mark richt coached teams. Before the kickoff last night i even told my wife that uga would lose the game by two touchdowns and boy was i wrong it ended up being four. I used to get so upset and bent out of shape but was able to chuckle at the disaster last night. Why get mad when you know before the kickoff that they won’t be fired up and ready to play? I’m done worrying about this team until a coaching change is made.

This is the first time I have ever commented. Are all of ya crazy. We got beat. When you can’t control either line of scrimmage you are going to get beat. I don’t care who you are or who you are playing. Did you really expect this team to go undefeated. How many teams each year go undefeated. The last 5 weeks everyone was talking about how great the offense was and how great Bobo was at calling plays. Now they are terrible. Coaches coach and players make plays. The players just did not make plays. Either support the team or get off this site.

Preparation…preparation…preparation-1 for 8 against ranked teams under current head coach. He’s in charge of the other coaches, it’s his job to override assistants as needed, game plan, and prepare his players for what will come. O-line wasn’t prepared; Secondary was confused(again); Blitz wasn’t effective enough; no speed dbacks covering SC QB; Murray needs to double pump. Don’t they see what we do? 6 more games to dispell the “pretender” label.

Grantham has worse numbers against the top 25 than willie martinez but y’all wanted him as head coach over the summer even though in the four games we lost last yr we gave up over forty points three time and I think 35 to boise. Our stats were padded bc the teams we beat had horrible offenses.

Grantham better get this defense fixed bc if he has 5-8 players drafted off this defense and continues to produce these numbers just imagine how bad next yr will be. Mel kiper and herbstreit last night said you will not see a defense as loaded as the georgia defense. Kiper saying uga could have eight defenwive players drafted which would one of the best of all time in the nfl draft. What does that say about our coaches.

Instead of blaming coaching and preparation how hard is it to realize we beat you on all sides of the ball because USC is the more talented team. Murray can barely pass gas. Gurshall…please get the eff out what a joke. Big # 29…looked like he was at a roller skating party. Baccari…haha enough said. Quit blaming Mark for y’alls on the field failures. Instead blame him for sugar babying all y’alls players and making them feel more special than they actually are. @First Time, here are a few thoughts;
1) UGA did not prepare for the ESPN game of the week.
USC started running the ball because UGA played prevent and SKI.
2) Spurrier knows how indisciplined the UGA players are.
3) Richt is not a good HC and Spurrier knew it.
4) Grantham is not a good defensive coach and Spurrier knew it.
5) Bobo is very predictable on play calls and Spurrier knew it (SKI).
6) UGA was a pretend top-ten team and SKI.
7) USC started out passing because UGA defended the run & SKI.
9) Mark Richt has no clue and SKI.
Any questions???

Spurrer hates U.G.A. Back when he was Q.B. at U.F. and won the Heisman the dogs whipped him and the gators good. The Ga. defense trash mouthed him every time they sacked his butt. He’s NEVER forgotten it. He will always work his game plan and his players harder before every Ga. game as long as he is coaching. Some Ga, team will get him sooner or later, but not with CMR as coach.

On what I perceive as the issues within our program.
1. We under estimate our opponnets.
2. We are not prepared with the proper game plan on both sides of the ball.
3. We do not make quick adjustments to change our course.
4. We try to pound a round peg into a square hole when there is enough evidence that says this will not work.
5. Our O Line and D Line is not man enough, and quite possible are not physically big enough and strong enough for Top 5 football.
6. Our D Backs are not strong enough, like themselves too much, and are void of making big plays. Hence when was the last time they did something like return an Int. a punt, or a kick-off. D Backs are our fastest guys or they should be, and they have been beaten deep every game.
7. The footwork of our guards, tackles, and center is not good enough. They run flat footed, and not on their toes. The same is true for our interior D line. We need better athletic line play. i.e. LSU, Florida, Alabama, and YES SC.
8. Our offensive play calling is not broad enough, too basic. No screens, no passes to the backs out of the backfield, and no designed runs for our QB.
9. Our outside edge people ran up field, and out of the play opening up wide running lanes for fast QBs. Why, and how in the world this happen more than once if any?
10. If we want to run right at them, then why no double tight ends, or even a line of scrimmage with a two offensive tackle set on one side? Not sure that our offensive play caller is able to adjust on the fly with new wrinkles. Surprise is everything when they are bringing it to you.
11. It also appeared that our defense is more interested in pro contracts than playing lights out defense. Yes they made a name for themselves, but somewhere that name has been forgotten.
12. With a defense playing man on our recievers we stand a great chance on running outside plays with pulling guards. Our recievers have an easier time blocking d backs right on them than running their routes.
13. Pulling our lineman in sweeps the first half would have opened up the middle of the field in the sprint option on run or throws.
14. Our QB is not a very good pocket passer when pressured due to size, and our OC and HC knew this, and they was no game plan to get outside of the 6′ 6″ and 6′ 8″ SC DEs. This was our biggest mistake, and this # 14 is why we got beat. It made us look like we could not compete, but a better game plan would have yielded a closer game, and placed the other team to a plan B.
15. We are out coached in that our HC does not have a complete handle of preparing his coaches and players for these type of games.
16. Many of our players are individules who think they are really good, and they are average SEC players.
17. The key defensive players do not respect themselves, and thus will not respect the HC. Others may, but our best players who are the NFL hopefulls do not as evidenced by crimes, pot smoking, and lack of focus to details.
18. With an 0- 10 record since 2008, and a 2 – 15 record all time for HCMR on ranked teams, this is enough to know history will repeat itself unless there are major changes.
19. Much has been lost as in years past being down to West Virginia 28 – 0, and Alabama 31 – 0 at half we were able to score 60+ points in the second half to make those games competitive. Last nights team packed it in at halftime, and this is BIG cause for alarm. Their expectations (players and coaches) are not in alignment with reality.
20. Lastly, now that reality has come, will our players and coaches answer the bell, and do what is necessary to get better. I see some personnel changes coming on the D line, O Line, and D Backfield.

Congratulations to a deserving SC team. You put on a clinic and showed what a motivated group of well-coached athletes can do when it is given a properly researched, planned and administered game plan by a staff of victory-hungry coaches who actually know how to adapt to game conditions in real time.
UGA coaching staff: I hope you took notes because you were given the blueprint for success last night.
UGA Athletes: You are loved and supported by your brothers and sisters out here in Dawg nation. You deserve the same level of commitment, execution and results from your coaches as you saw SC receive last night. We apologize that you will never get it because your coaches do not have it within them to give and we as a whole do not have the guts to do what it takes to give it to you in the form of a new staff of fire-eating leaders like Saban, Miles, and Spurrier.

Every time we are on espn in the national spot light we come away looking like fools. I am so tired of it. You fans that don’t have a problem with what is going on in athens are being fooled or you don’t really care about winning. Grantham was the wrong choice I have been saying that for a while. He will have trouble ever getting a job after this season with all that talent and this is all he can do with it. They would be better off not being coached at least then they could play fast they are thinking so much out there it is killing them. All I see is finger pointing going on whcih tells me no one out there knows who should cover who.these guys that stayed are gonna wish they went to the draft bc theya re sliding and slikding fast. Rambo has already fallen a ton. Last yr he would have been a first rounder leading the ncaa in picks this yr once again like his freshmen and sophomore yrs he leads the ncaa in blown coverages and bad angles and the worst at high pointing a football. I am a supporter of the program, coach and players. However I have a question. Why does Mark stay with one quarterback through his playing time at Georgia and not change up quarterbacks when things are not going well? Go ahead and give the quarterback Mason [redshirt] a shot and see what he can do? If not, when it “comes his turn” next year, he will have no experience.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah – listen the OL didn’t cut down the oncoming DT and the ball got tipped leading to a TD on a short field. Then S.C. ran back a punt for a TD due to very poor tackling. That’s two TD’s that were not on the defense. The game, without the errors, would have been 7 – 0 at the half. The Offense and special teams lost this game just as much as the “D”. In the 2nd half UGA was out scored 14 -7. Erase the two errors and it was 21 -7. S.C . outplayed UGA for sure and the OL could not block the DE’s without help. That was the difference. For the most part UGA’s “D” controlled Lattimore but Shaw hurt them scrambling in the 1st half. S.C. got conservative in the 4th quarter.

Uga has had the easiest schedules the past three yrs while grantham has been here so don’t look at all the stats bc willie coaches against a tougher schedule. So compare their numbers against top 25 teams and do you get grantham has worst numbers with more nfl talent. Grantham to me has no clue how to stop spread offenses remember what spurrier said after he beat us granthams first yr I guess they don’t run that spread in the nfl and he still has not figured it out.

Back to the Braves for a moment….A couple of major points were missed in the AJC’s coverage of the WC game…Point .#1 –it sure looked like Simmons bunted on his own in the bottom of the 4th with Freeman on 3rd and 1 out and the Braves down 1..FG says he called a safety squeeze because runs have been hard to come by….but Freeman did not act like a play was on….he wasnot creeping and he did not break…plus Simmons’ bunt was a poor effort; he did not square….I think FG was covering for Simmons(probably) or Freeman….Point #2 Braves were down 4-2 in the Top of 7 when Uggla made a 2 base error on a ground ball. After a sac (off of Medlen) moved the runner to 3b, FG brought in Durbin. Simmons then made a boot and a bad throw home to make the score 5-2. Instead of Durbin, why not bring In Kimbrell there? You need a strikepout and who is better at that than Kimbrell? I am sure FG’s response would have been: we didn’t have time to get him ready, etc. blah blah…but when that first runner got to 2B with no outs, they should have gotten Kimbrell up and used the clock…Could have brought Durbin in to get the hitter sacrificing….If runs were at a premium on Simmons’ bunt they should have been on that 5th Cards’ run which led to a 6th run as the hitter who reached on Simmons’error came around all the way to score from 2B on Carpenters’ nubber…

Blasting the coaching staff is not going to help recruting. So we go 11-1 UGA didn’t make the schedule the SEC office did. I have been watching UGA football for 55 years and I don’t like to loose. Put this one behind us and if we drop one to FLA then it might time to evaluate the program. As to fan support the Athletic Office knows they will sell the tickets. In todays college football world there is only one BAMA today. No one else will go undefeated. Just be glad you don’t support LSU now that is a program with tallent and problems.

If people who make hiring decisions thought Kirby was so Smart he would be a head coach by now..I dont hear his name being mentioned for the Arkansas job.I hearing Charlie Strong. He didnt get the Florida job nor the Tennesee job.Why do so many people think he would be Georgia’s savior? He rides Saban’s coat tails for a living. Why would he leave that job? And we all know who really coaches Alabama’s defense..

Athens resident, 20+++ year ticket holder. The year still can be a really good year, BUT…after last night watching GA and watching FLA, Jax will be, in my opinion, a bad experience for Dog fans.
We have athletes galore, probably 20 players or more on the roster, including underclassmen, that will be on NFL rosters someday soon. We havent beaten a ranked team since, what, ‘07? It’s one thing to lose to a ranked team, it’s another to continually look unprepared and totally outmanned against USC, LSU, Boise State, Bama, etc…
Our athletes, facilities, and, not least of all, ticket prices and money generated deserve more! Had we lost 35-21 or 35-28 and been competitive throughout, I’d be willing to say ‘what a game’. As it is, I can only say ‘what a mess’.
Slow down, folks

Our facilities, our athletes, and our revenues would seem to dictate that we should be able to compete against the USC, LSU, Boise States, and Florida’s of the world. Those facilities, athletes, etc..are all second to none in the SEC, which means college football. No wins against ranked teams since ‘07 would seem to indicate that, much as I hate to admit it, something needs to be done to reenergize the program. McGarity spent a long time as #2 man at Fla. He’s used to seeing championships won. He’ll handle this well.

That was not a veryinformed post. A lot of people came after Smart recently….and Bama threw a ton of money at him to keep him on the staff. And Kirby coaches the defense during the game….not Saban. But….obviously…..Saban sets the tone and schemes of the Bama defense. But Smart has learned a lot from Saban on how to run a quality college program…..as did Muschamp from Saban and Brown at Texas…..and Smart will be someone teams continue to go after as a head coach….but Bama will most likely continue to throw money at him to keep him….because he is a very good coach….and he would make a very good head coach.

Although if you don’t recognize that South Carolina has one of the most talented defensive fronts in the Country, you know nothing about football. So, give me a name. Don’t just say fire someone. Tell me who you replace him with. I bet none of you can come up with a viable candidate. Someone who would be interested in Georgia and someone who Georgia would be interested in as well. Go ahead….give it to me.

A lot of puff and palaver on this message board. A tempest in a teacup. The only salient fact is that UGA sucks and that CMR should have been dismissed yesterday. He would probably make a fairly good high school coach. Retiring UGA President Mikey Adams is a clueless, ineffectual leader, so the deadwood starts right at the top of the tree. McGarrity was the wrong hire for A.D. as he doesn’t have a nut sack. What about the defensive coordinator? Offensive coordinator? It’s elementary management principles people and we are sorely lacking in this regard. Can you even imagine Nick Sabin putting the kind of clueless product on the field that UGA did last night? At this moment we are a national laughing stock, but the Georgia fan base doesn’t have the will to rise up and demand change.

There is only one coach for Georgia: Charlie Strong. Kirby Smart does not have the experience but he would be a very close second. In order of interview preference:
1. Charlie Strong
2. Tommy Tuberville (probably will be in Arkansas by Christmas)
3. Kirby Smart
4. Art Bryles
5. Mike Leach
6. Gus Malzahn
Unfortunately, the ‘realistic’ Georgia fans will have to wait another season and a half before McGarity will even consider making a move. The night of the Red Panty’s, I knew this football program would continue to suffer under the careless, listless, Richt for another 5 seasons. Damon Evans, empowered by a new contract, would have canned this dude and Charlie Strong would be the coach right now. McGarity better hurry, cause Tech is developing the same short list (Malzahn would be perfect for them). But alas, there is sunshine coming. The University of Georgia will be getting a new President come January. YYYEEESSSS!!!!

@Fan……”How does the talent at Georgia get dominated by South Carolina? Are you kidding me? South Carolina?” Well, did you watch the game? Simply put South Carolina had better talent, better prepared, and better coached. Just because you dawg fans keep telling each other on these blogs how great your players are doesn’t mean they are superior. Carolina players out played Georgia players in every aspect of the game. Also noticed a post here where someone said Bobo shoulod have called plays to neutralize the Carolina blitz……really, they didn’t blitz, that was the push from the defensive line…..they only blitz about two or three times a game.

Two ways to build winning teams:
1. Hire 1st rate coaches and recruit players with talent and character (example: Alabama, Florida, South Carolina).
2. Hire 3rd rate phony coaches and recruit low class trash, then schedule a lot of crap teams (example: Georgia).
Method #1 works. Method #2 gets you a decent W-L record, but no championships.

Although UGA loss it was still a good game, b/c #’s 5 & 6 played, bring national coverage to both GA and SC and their respective “flagship” institutions. Despite the loss UGA remains a pretty good team, but we’re seeing the emergence of a tough USC team. If anything both fans of USC and UGA should be happy, b/c it indicates that the SEC-east is not the “whipping board” for the SEC-west. With balance within our conference on both sides, a stronger argument can be made that the SEC is the most dominant conference in FBS.
There can only be one divisional leader at a time, and for years UGA and Florida have dominated the SEC-east … with the expansion of our conference and the emergence of USC as a prominant football program we/alumni of SEC-east schools can hold our heads high as we challenge our compadres in the SEC-west and every Monday when a new AP polls comes out showing 7 SEC schools on it … 3 of which are in the Top-5 and two out of the SEC-east.

I really think this nation has become a nation of spoiled crybabies.
No one’s ego can take a loss. Every team loses eventually and if you play enough games someone is going to have a much better team that beats you badly.
South Carolina has a much better team than us this year. We got beat bad. Get over it and move on. Grow up. It is not the end of the world or of our program.
When I was in college at UGA we got beat 40 something to 7 by Nebraska in some God forsaken bowl and they had a running back named Johnny Rogers that most of you have probably never heard of.
He was so good he had the nerve to hire a law student friend as an agent and the audacity to actually negotiate his salary and signing bonus with the NFL team that drafted him. First college player to do that. It sort of became a trend after that.
I digress.
In the course of college football life Georgia (and every other college team on God’s green earth) is going to run into a team that is just better that year. It happens.
Learn to live with it. Reality is you beat the teams that you are better at and lose to the teams that are better than you.
If you want to get upset, then get upset if your team loses to an inferior team talentwise because of fumbles, interceptions, and lack of effort.
That did not happen last night. We played a better team and got whipped.
Now lets get ready for the second half of the season.

Football has changed in the SEC. The top teams are in better condition than in the past. They are doing a better job of recruiting. Georgia is doing neither. So much as I hate to say it, UGA is going to be good but an also-ran so long as Richt is there. His teams are not tough enough or talented enough to win the big games. When did they last win a big one. I can’t remember. I doubt if they will ever compete with South Carolina again as long as Spurrier is there. He has put together a national championship calibre team and is now kicking butt. His program has improved every year. That will continue.

Was amazing to me that the school provided Richt with such a lucrative contract extension after two lousy years, and a 10 win year last year against one of the school’s weakest schedules ever. And UGA has an even weaker schedule this year and we still can’t beat the good teams even with the 4 and 5 star talent that is on the team. Richt recruits a lot of troublemakers who are often ineligible and don’t represent the school well. Why is a coach “rewarded” for this kind of performance??!!??

who cares? this is a bunch of kids playing a game. most of them wouldn’t even be in college if not for stupid football. thugs and street crooks. and we pay a football coach millions while our state is at the bottom of the nation in education – a nation that is not even in the top top in the world. our priorities are all screwed up. folks should get so excited about the effort to set up a state charter school system to over rule local school boards. that’s an issue that really does matter. and i bet most of the radical posters on here never attended uga anyway. i hope they never win another athletic contest in the remaining history of the school. but it is entertaining to read these comments over a corrupt football team losing to the neighboring state corrupt football team – both states lead the nation in basic ignorance

Spurrieer obviusly watched the game film on the Georgia defense against Vandy and Tenn. Three straight bad efforts by the defense. Offense and defensive line worthless. I’m old enough to remember Johnny Rodgers and that powerful Nebraska team on the verge of two straight NC’s. However, comparing that UGA loss to this one is erroneous. You are old enough to know better. You have seen enough football to know that this isn’t just one bad loss. Demanding that UGA fulfill their potential does not make one a “spoiled crybaby.” Its called holding your coaches and administrators accountable and demanding excellence. Excellence doesn’t always mean championships, but at UGA it does. The Dawg nation has a history of giving their head coach the benefit of the doubt more than any other big time program in the SEC. Do you think CMR would be on the hotseat if had won just ONE SEC title in the past 7 years, while others programs around them with equal or lesser resources have won a NC? The answer is NO. CMR has earned the heat. Not everybody deserves to be the head coach at UGA, no matter how upstanding they are. The Dawg nation demands at least above average performance relative to its resources. Mediocrity should not be tolerated. Apologists such as yourself only make things worse.

Richt’s a loser. All he really likes about UGA is the $3.2 mil salary. What if anything does he do to begin to justify a salary like that which some decent coaches make? Answer-what he does is make target practice for the likes of Spurrier, Saban and Miles. Now it looks like Muschamp will get in line to redundantly kick his sorry ass. I am tired of hearing about Richt’s .740 winning percentage-check it out, should he be allowed to include all the Georgia Southern type teams he feasts on? which are the ONLY reason the percentage is .740? Richt sucks! Fire Mark Richt! And, hello, no more sorry-ass search committees that produce the likes of Richt, Goof and Donnan! Search committee competency is the key or don’t bother.

Alabama, Auburn, LSU, UT, UF would never stand for the years of dismal performance against ranked teams. They would (and have) fired their coaches and started fresh. As a matter of fact, when Bama, Auburn, LSU and UF did it they all won BCS Titles.
But in Athens we give contract extensions and raises to coaches who consistently lose to ranked teams.

LakeDawg,
I remember after Ray Goff was run off that UGA couldn’t find a coach willing to take the job. Finally a Coach Mason from Minnesota took it, came down introduced himself to the players and then called AD Dooley and said he had changed his mind and didn’t want it.
Dooley had to offer the job to a Div II coach (Donnan) to get an experienced head coach in there and I am sure you remember how that turned out.
LakeDawg, were you happy for those 12 long years that Ray Goff and Jim Donnan were our head coaches in Athens? Are you proud of those years?
Mark Richt is head and shoulders above both of them and has won 111 games in 11 & 1/2 years in Athens. He has a winning record against every team in the SEC other than Florida and his 2 wins against Florida are twice as many as Goff and Donnan had together.
Oh yea, he is 10-1 against Tech, as opposed to Donnan who I believe was 3-3.
I will take CMR any day of the week as UGA’s coach.

To me it’s not the fact that we lost to a very good team, it’s the fact that we didn’t show up at all. We lost the game in the first 10 minutes and showed no heart to come back. I was there and it was a great atmosphere and exciting up until the first TD. I hoped that we would answer but Murray threw another tipped pick. We just gave up – no emotion, no fire, nothing. Hard to argue what you say. Bottom line is we need to start building those stats we did during MR’s early years. Second, there are only 2-3 “elite” coaches is all of college football. We have a good one, not and elite one. I would say Saban, Spurrier and Petrino the best pure football guys – “elite”. Then you have a bunch of good coaches like Richt, Stoops, etc that will win pretty consistantly. So, there are not many coaches you can get to better our situation. Richt is the best coach, by fact, UGA has ever had.

Mark – You and the rest of the AJC sports reporters are doing a disservice to the Bulldog nation and all the Georgia tax payers by not calling for CMR to be fired. I know you know Richt is currently not a SEC caliber coach. He won the SEC championship when there were other weak coaches in the SEC. Since Saban, Miles, Meyers and Spurrier have arrived and got their programs going, Richt cannot compete. He gets the 4 & 5 star talent from Georgia based primarily on loyalty of the players to their home state. You and the other AJC reporters have tremendous influence over the debate on CMR and his staff. Please for the sake of the Bulldog nation, call for Richt to be fired and let us have a chance for a national championship. We will never play for a NC as long as Richt is there.

CMR is the BEST thing to happen to Georgia Football since Hershel Walker.” I actually heard this from an older former player who sat at a bar with his friends and proclaimed that we should be down on our knees every night thanking God for this man.
I don’t disagree for one second that CMR has elevated the reputation of our great university to a higher class and one few can claim, but that’s really not his primary job. I don’t disagree that he has made it his mission to make our boys better men by his spiritual example. That is admirable, but, once again, not why he was hired to be the Head Coach at the University of Georgia.
If he could do all of those things, while at the same time, creating a culture of excellence on and off the playing field, then it would mean our players would not settle for second place. They would not tolerate third place, and fourth place in the league would be something we rarely had to worry about, because the atmosphere would breed perfection. This would be a Mark Richt-coached team that I could live with for the next umpteen years.
If the coaches coached the players to believe and perform with perfection, like a coach does an olympic athlete, then there would be few to no penalties. They would demand excellence from themselves, because that is what is expected of you when you wear the Red and Black. Each athlete would know his assignment for every play, every time.
They would be drilled on the same play over and over again ad nauseum until it was done right, every time, by everyone. And if one person screwed up, they would practice it again. But in order to coach this way, you have to be committed to perfection, to excellence. And I don’t believe our coaches are committed to excellence in the way that an Olympic gold medalist is committed. This is why I think they will continue to lose to the Steve Spurriers and the Nick Sabans. Those coaches believe in perfection. They coach it. They preach it. And they demand it. That is why they are winners, and why we just laid a big one in front of a national audience.
Thanks, Nothin Will Change, for saying what is so true.

Rambo was called for a personal foul when he made a late hit out of bounds costing us 15. Dumb move. That is where a good coach would have pulled him or at least chewed him out, but there he was a couple of plays later pushing a WR after another play was over, right in front of a ref. Ref didn’t call it but he could have called another 15. CTG either didn’t see it or just doesn’t care about undisiplined play. I was mad as h*ll. How many times was Shaw in his count and our defense wasn’t even set?
Most of the cupcakes we play are more prepared for us than we were for SC. I thought we would at least give them a game. If we weren’t flat, then excatly would flat look like? Its like our team never got off the bus. I don’t know who that team was that got hammered out there, but it wasn’t the same Bulldawgs I watched all year. It was a shame for all the Bulldawgs fans that wasted their time and money to be subjected to that humiliation. I will support the Dawgs through thick and thin, but it will now be under protest. What makes a Tech fan feel better about their pitiful team? Watching UGA fans implode. I am supprised Richt said we weren’t flat. I expect the truth from such a man. Dissapointed again…

A Committment to Excellence. The Search for Perfection. Nothing matters until you get it right. A Distaste for Mediocrity. Doing right when no ones looking. Paying attention to the details. Perfecting the details. Practicing it right. Accountability. No Excuses and no one to blame but myself.
These are all thoughts that come to my mind when I think of our football team right now, starting with the head coach. And they are all things that I see as missing from the overall complexion of the team.
I see some in a few, but none in a lot.
It all starts with the leader.

Why this keep happening? It time someone look at Adams and his pointy headed rules. Adams keeps us stuck with restrictoins about signing players with low scores andnot allowing us to medicals the players that turns out stinkys. Then we could free up schollies to bring in new talents with no recruiting problems. No body understands that what Saban, Visor Boy and even Dooley Boy doing. But no! Adams handicaps Coach Richt to cause choking of recruiting and schollie players less than 85. A schollie is just an offer to try out for team. And then if they ends up sorry you cut them loose. That what Saban and Visor Boy doing. And Adams pointy heads rules keeping Dawgs from it. But Adams is hit the road and we need new Pres that supports football and Coach Richt by getting rid of Adams recruiting rules.

UGA had no gameplan. Even Clowney said he knew what the snap count was on every play because of how the o-line telegraphed it.
The only offensive play that was called that worked was the 1st rushing play of the game, a toss sweep to Gurley for 14 yards. It worked so we didn’t run it again.
Why do we continually try to get Malcome Mitchell the ball on that reverse? It’s too slow developing,
If SC can double Jarvis Jones with good results? Couldn’t UGA have doubled Clowney?
Coach Mark Richt was right. Flat wasn’t the word he would use.
SC saved us the embarrassment of playing Bama in Atlanta.
Hope SC represents the East well but they more than likely played their best game of the season last night. Spurrier puts so much of his off season and his entire season into this game, that he’ll lose a couple games like usual.

UGA is the most profitable football program in the SEC. So why is our coach the 6th highest paid in the SEC? And why does nobody ever try to hire him away. The athletic department is scamming us.
Stop buying season tickets until the athletic department hires a top notch coach for our top notch program. I did.

If we are getting the best recruits every year, what happens that they never seem to be as good as lesser recruits they play against in big games? Coaching comes to mind. Until we have a “dream” coaching staff we need to quit talking about our “dream” team.

If it makes you Dawg fans feel any better, there is no one looking forward to facing the ‘Cock defense (Clowney? Are you kidding me?) The UGA O-Line just wasn’t up to the task. Watching the run game get man-handled wasn’t pretty, and Murray had an off-night passing, so it wasn’t going to happen. I fault his receivers for dropping some easy passes and when did Bobo get so addicted to passes in “the flat”? He was lucky that one of them wasn’t a Pick Six. Well, with the recruiting class that CMR has lined up, I’m sure you’ll be back in the BCS talk in the next two years……again.

I disagree. Winning the Fulmer Cup every year doesn’t really do that much to enhance the reputation of the university. It’s not as if Les Miles or Nick Saban aren’t good role models for their student athletes — it’s just that Mark Richt isn’t a very good Head Coach. Therefore, he is complemented for being a “nice guy”. Nice guys are a dime a dozen. Winning Head Ball Coaches… Not so much.

You Richt/Bobo supporters are ridiculous! “It’s just one loss!” No, it’s the pathetic record of 2-14 against ranked teams. I can except loosing when the team shows up and just gets beaten by a better team. But consistently getting blown out and embarrassed every year on a national scale is not acceptable any longer. Did you not hear the guys on ESPN talk about our coaching staff? Even they were saying how embarrassed they would be if they were a UGA fan. Bobo is absolutely clueless what to do when his game plan falls apart. He instantly falls back to his conservative, vanilla plays that everyone can see a mile away. Even my wife who knows nothing about football asked “why does he keep running the ball up the middle? It hasn’t worked one time the entire game. Why is the quarterback holding the ball so long?” Where was the screen pass? Where were the slants? Absolutely clueless. We will never win big games with these coaches. You people seem to be ok beating cupcake teams and being embarrassed year after year. I’ve been a Dawg fan for 40 years and I have never been embarrassed like I was Saturday night. Seeing that stupid grin on Spurrier’s face was bad enough but then to see Richt smiling and acting like the loss was not big deal was nauseating! “Golly gee, we just got whipped.” WHAT A JOKE!!

Gurley and Marshall are freshmen running behind a freshman line, I get it. Murray has always been hyped over what he’s actually shown, I get it.
The Georgia defense has a lot of talent but falls flat when it matters.
These are the hallmarks of a Mark Richt team unfortunately. I like the guy a lot as a human being, but It’s been 5 years since they won a game that mattered.
The goal is National Championship. Mark Richt is not a good enough coach to get Georgia anywhere. Maybe he was for about 3 years, but the track record is there now.
In a big game, he’s Bob Stoops at this point. You can count on Georgia to fail under Richt.

Georgia fans easily get carried away with wins over mediocre or 2A schools and start believing they will win SEC and national championship. I am a Georgia fan that has never been impressed with Mark Richt, even in the early years. I know he cannot win big games. It is time to look for a new coach but please don’t limit it to former Georgia players. Look nationwide. Many coaches out there are constantly coming up with new schemes that win games and can react to game situations. ( Look at Oregon State, WVA, Penn State ). I doubt anyone will beat Oregon State this year, although I hope Alabama will.

What Saturday night proved was the game is still won up front. You got dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage by more athletic linemen. Your OL & DL are fat & unathletic , you can’t move your DL off the LOS but they had no chance catching Conner running or your OL blocking our athletic DL. It was just a bad matchup for you guys …… your linemen reminded me of playing a Big Ten team.

This was the Dawg’s yr or should have been! Favorable schedule with only 2 tough games. Unfotunately the 1st game was a 35-7 embarrassment on national TV and on 10/27 the Gators are apt to do the same damn thing! Will go on record now the Gators overwhelm the Dawgs by roughly
24 – 6. 10-2 will b a good yr but Dawg fans will know it sucked because the only 2 tough games we got whipped soundly by 2 teams we hate more than those Techies!!!!!!!!

Georgia’s coaches don’t even know Football 101. If the quarterback can hurt you with his legs, you spy on him the entire game and hit him every chance you get. If the running game isn’t working, then you abandon it and spread the field and throw the rest of the way — especially the indefensible passes (sideline routes, hooks, and roll the pocket), at least give yourself a chance and the defense a much needed rest. If the opposing team has an overpowering player on defense, then you put a tight end and a big strong running back hitting him every play. Also, try something new and innovative the other team hasn’t studied on film for the big games — their coach always seems to. Lastly, and UGA should know this better than anyone — kick away from their big play gamebreaker on punts/kick-offs. I’ve been telling everyone our special teams suck and we would get burned again (like we always do). Come on guys — do some blasted coaching! We definitely need a change.
