Connor Shaw ran. He also passed. Not coincidentally, his team won. (AP photo by Brett Flashnick)
1. Aaron Murray didn’t exactly grab his star-making moment by the throat. Delivering a tipped interception on Georgia’s third snap was the worst possible start for the quarterback who still hasn’t presided over a victory against a team of substance. (Florida 2011 doesn’t count.) Murray had maybe his worst night as a Bulldog, completing 11 of 31 passes for 109 yards. In his defense, his line couldn’t block South Carolina’s defensive front. As offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said: “When a guy’s getting hit, he has a tendency not to trust his protection.”
2. The “Gurshall” groundswell got, er, grounded. Freshmen tailbacks Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall combined for 76 yards on 15 carries — this after each had 100-yard games against Tennessee. Again, the Gamecocks’ defensive line overpowered Georgia up front, often pushing blockers backwards into the guys for whom they were supposed to be blocking. “We couldn’t handle their ends,” Bobo said, and then this: “I thought we would be able to run the ball a little bit better.”
3. The Georgia defense didn’t trip the light fantastic, either. South Carolina gained 392 yards while throwing only 10 passes. (Six were completed, for a staggering 162 yards.) That’s what happens, said Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, when the running game works and you can throw off play-action at your leisure. The Gamecocks rushed for 230 yards — 109 by Marcus Lattimore, who had his third consecutive big game against Georgia, and 78 more by Shaw. “For us to get where we want to go, we’ve got to improve,” said Grantham, telling no lies.

For some reason the Mark Richt ESPN commercials are not as well received around my neighborhood. Wonder if Herbie told him he was a poor coach during the commercial shoot. I’m guessing no.

This is all a tempest in a teacup. The only salient fact is that UGA sucks and that CMR should have been dismissed yesterday, but the UGA fans don’t demand it. He would probably make a fairly good high school coach. Retiring UGA President Mikey Adams is a clueless, ineffectual leader, so the deadwood starts right at the top of the tree. McGarrity was the wrong hire for A.D. as he doesn’t have a nut sack. What about the defensive coordinator? Offensive coordinator? It’s elementary management principles people and we are sorely lacking in this regard. Can you even imagine Nick Sabin putting the kind of clueless product on the field that UGA did last night? At this moment we are a national laughing stock, but the Georgia fan base doesn’t have the will to rise up and demand change. See at the frigid Music City Bowl.

UGA 42
USCE 20
This one is easy to pick. I have the same confidence as I had vs Vandy. UGA is due to beat a top 10 team…. and beat them handily. I predict UGA and UF will be undefeated when we meet in Jax. You heard it here first, UGA will wax USCe and UF will upset LSU by a fieldgoal.

UGA Insider,
Please come out and defend your idiotic prediction. However, if you are working the double shift at the sanitation plant we will all understand.
You must be a Vegas Insider! You did get half of your predictions correct. Just curious, where is your misplaced confidence now?

If you recruit quality players (I mean players of substance) then they will put forth a quality team performance and not an individual performance, its a shame because M. Ricth is a quality guy but can’t distinguish the difference when it comes to recruiting, face it , Georgia is a lost cause.

@Fan……”How does the talent at Georgia get dominated by South Carolina? Are you kidding me? South Carolina?” Well, did you watch the game? Simply put South Carolina had better talent, better prepared, and better coached. Just because you dawg fans keep telling each other on these blogs how great your players are doesn’t mean they are superior. Carolina players out played Georgia players in every aspect of the game. Also noticed a post here where someone said Bobo shoulod have called plays to neutralize the Carolina blitz……really, they didn’t blitz, that was the push from the defensive line…..they only blitz about two or three times a game.

Two ways to build winning teams:
1. Hire 1st rate coaches and recruit players with talent and character (example: Alabama, Florida, South Carolina).
2. Hire 3rd rate phony coaches and recruit low class trash, then schedule a lot of crap teams (example: Georgia).
Method #1 works. Method #2 gets you a decent W-L record, but no championships.

After years of supporting CMR, I am now with those wanting to dump him. Mike Bobo is a mediocre offensive coordinator on his best day. Todd Grantham appears to be a blowhard, a total windbag.

Bottom line is Mark Richt does NOT have the drive or passion to win that other SEC coaches do…Mark should have been fired 3 or 4 years ago!
There is NO excuse for the way this team was NOT prepared for the biggest game of the year!
I have and always will be a UGA fan but I will never be a blind loyalist to an inferior coach good guy or not!

In my 40 years of following UGA football these are the facts.
1. Every one of our major rivals have won a national championship since us (UT, GT, AU, UF).
2. We have loads of money and great facilities and support.
3. Wait till next year is getting old after 32 years…..
4. Schools with no history have passed our program like USC because of COACHING
5. Leadership starts at the top…that was not a “tough game”…it was a national embarrassment.

Pause for ten seconds and consider what it would take to fire CRM.

Three points about UGAs 28 point loss: 1. Richt will continue to reinvent himself by doing absolutely nothing but be an average (but over-paid) coach. 2. Murray is all stats, but not a winner. 3. Why is Bobo still employed at a major college?

How many times must this be said——-You win in the SEC by 1–Having a strong running game 2—Having a good defense that tackles well 3—Having good special teams play (this includes kicking) Very simple, very easy—–Just ask the great coaches!!!!
UGA better than Bama

Those three points are bogus. Murray is a better quarterback than people want to believe. Gurshall just didn’t have any opportunities to run. And finally, the defense was tired but they really didn’t give up that much.

It’s understandable to be upset your favortie team lost but give credit where credit is do. You are not the only one on this board but your inferior comment stood out to me. “Lost to inferior talent?” C’mon, UGA lost to a better team. Check coaches at big time schools, they’re running up and down sidelines at every play.
