Live from Columbia: Georgia aims to bag the Big Chicken

Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

I hope the sting of this loss remains sharp within us all for the rest of the season. Every time we win, let us remember tonight and understand it is the result of a weak schedule and bad opponent and not be lulled into thinking tonight was a fluke or that we are getting better.

It just got worse. Florida State lost to N.C. state 17-16. With only a half-decent coach, Georgia could be ranked #3 tomorrow. Another year down the drain.

No way, watch. Petrino will be right back in the SEC next season coaching for either Tennessee, Auburn, or Kentucky. You guys are forgetting that College Football is now a big sleazy business and results and money rule the roost. Petrino is one of the top coaches in College Football period.

Maybe the Dawgs should lose their remaining games so they won’t get invited to a bowl game. Not likely with the weak ass schedule they have other than Florida .,Georgia Southern is the toughest team left on their schedule.,

Damn…Ore looks good. Looking like a Tide v Duck National Champ game….that will be entertaining.
Ore has no real competition in PAC 12 (USC was way overrated), and Bama is head and shoulder above the rest of the SEC….pretty simple scenario

Chip Kelly would get WORN down in the SEC. Not sure he would be the same coach that you see on the Oregon sidelines. He’s a great coach, don’t get me wrong.
Guys, we lost this game tonight purely from coaching. Also, I am losing confidence in Aaron Murray. Switch it up a bit and through Hutson Mason in the game. The kid SET THE RECORD for passing in the state of Georgia.

I really like Mark Richt the Christian man; but, the college football world has become a big business and takes schisters, snakes, cheats etc… (Saban, Miles, Myer…etc…) to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS…If the Dawgs want to compete, they are going to have to find THAT type coach period….
For all you people thinking Saban or Gruden are going to be coach of the Cowboys, you don’t live in Texas as I do…NO ONE WANTS TO COACH THE COWBOYS BECAUSE THEY CAN COACH….JERRY JONES DOES THAT….that is where the Cowboys problems lie….all Cowboy coaches are PUPPETS !! Attention! I do not hate Mark Richt. He is a good guy. A solid man. However he is not the man to get us to the top level of college football. Once again we are clobber against a ranked opponent, just like Bama in 08, Florida in 09, Tenn in 07 LSU in the Dome last year along with Mich ST, Boise ST. West Va in the Sugar Bowl what 05?Again I do hate Richt. The powers that be need to see this is a body of work issue, not just tonight.

Mark Richt being a Christian has nothing to do with his being able to coach football.You can still be a Christian and be successful as a coach,Tom Osborne was a believer and he did pretty good,and was hard nosed.Also we don’t need more snakes, cheater etc in college football
these people will eventually destroy it.We need to better the game with better people than to compromise.Hopefully Bobby Petrino will never see anything in Georgia again.

Good Question, however it can be done. Bama got Saban, Florida got Urban Meyer,and Turncoat(he is looking better than he was this time last year)Anytime to change coaches it could be rough for a while but as was said in an earlier post, Bama fans didn’t maind changing Shula for Saban.

Say what you want about Damon Evans but this is exactly why he didnt get along with Richt. He tried to make UGA into a national program by playing big out of conference games. They bring a new A.D. who doesn’t believe in the same philosophy AND gives sorry donkey Richt an extension for beating a bunch of unranked opponents.
