I'm guessing this Gamecock fancies his team's chances, too. Other Gamecocks do. (AP photo)
Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

Spartacus, I hope you’re right but LSU has been looking dreadful the last three games. Maybe their linebackers will get some good hits on Shaw as much as he likes to run. I couldn’t believe our linebackers bit on the fakes so bad and we didn’t get any good open field shots on Shaw. If Shaw takes soem good hits against LSU, then USC is done — they’re lost without Shaw. Everybody cheating up to make sure Shaw didn’t run is what opened up both their other runners and passing game. I can’t believe Coach Grantham didn’t figure that out before the game — spy on Shaw and pound him.
Can you believe this?

Let’s see if McGarrity deals with Richt the way he dealt with the Gymnastics coach and the Golf coach. Richt is a good guy, a solid man, I just don’t believe he’s the guy to get us to the elite level of the SEC or the FBS.Look were Carolina was when Spurrier took over and now they are clearly past us
and are a top tier program.Richt has been here longer and we have digressed.Even last year ten win
run was mostly against oppenents that didn’t have a winning record,we have not defeated a top ten program in years. We need a change.

He doesn’t have much talent to work with out there. Give him the talent and he’ll know how to coach them to be champions. If not him, at least someone like him — there aren’t many out there to choose from these days. Who do you like? Maybe Boise State’s coach?

Hey Murray – how does it feel to be 2-4? UGA got beat down but at least we still have a shot at a conference title…..GT sucks….the OL got dominated and that should not happen…..there is enough talent in this state that we should not lose to a small, insignificant state like the Palmetto State…..GT sucks bad though….good luck against BC….oh yeah – they lost to Army so you might have a shot.

Agree AFDawg, Mett and the LSU offense look horrid. However, Barkevious Mingo, Bennie Logan, and Sam Montgomery of the D-line are absolute beasts. Those guys actually walk the walk unlike Granthams boys. They will punish Shaw and Lattimore

@ can you believ this. You are exactly right. I can’t believe anyone in the world would be fooled by last years record. If you were fooled by it then it should have been cleared up for you quite nicely when LSU didn’t even pay attention to us in the 1st half and then just destroyed us! People can scream all they want about an SEC win is an SEC win. The fact is the conference was abnormally weak last year and we didn’t play anyone who was any good by SEC standards except the one’s we lost to.l Time for change.

Georgia will be lucky to stay in the top 20 after this stinker on ESPN. Their talking heads will bury the dogs and the sad fact is the dogs deserve to be buried. For the Dog fans it never changes the team and coaching staff fold like a cheap tent the first time they are truly tested by a top level opponent.

The last time I saw a Georgia team show up to play another team with so little heart was against Tennessee in Knoxville in 2007. Except we were much more deflated at this debacle than any other game in recent memory. I’m at tremendous loss for words, I don’t know who this pathetic little high school team who showed up to play South Carolina was. They damn sure were’nt the Georgia Bulldogs! I don’t know who to point the doo-doo gun at for this embarassment , but I’m quite sure there are lots of deserving targets that are wearing the oval G. You boys really let me down tonight, and , as I hate to quote Kirk Herbstreit , I think you’re probably setting the tone for future games this year. Just who the hell are you guys? please give my Dawgs back their uniforms and let them show up for the the rest of the season!
