Live from Columbia: Georgia aims to bag the Big Chicken

Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

Richt gets some of the best football talent in the nation. If you have equivalent and/or superior size, speed, and athleticism, losing can only come down to two things: player intellgence/execution or coaching.

I just don’t understand how a team with this much talent can go into a game like this and just lay a huge freaking egg. I am tired of seeing this!!! I don’t know about anyone else but I just relived that God awful Alabama game back in 08!!!!!!

Red&Black, when I first read it I thought the same thing. But, it depends on how you read the word dominated. They were dominated by SCAR. Not they dominated themselves. The headline is correct. But you might need to read it twice.

Time for Hutson Mason to be thrown in the fire along with Pyke and a few other backups. Time to rise up and support UGA for the rest of the year. If you quit after a loss, you weren’t much of a fan anyway.
McGarity needs to take drastic measures or he isn’t doing his job…

How did Georgia miss out on recruiting all these great Ga,. raised football players. Oh it just hit me. they wanted to play for a tough coach and a good team..You can always count on Richt and the Dogs to fold sometime during the season. Lets just hope this is the only time.

I think if we keep running up the gut we eventually will catch up. And let’s keep throwing the screen pass to the left every FREAKING second down! That will confuse them. Seriously, when we ran that dopey end around trick play on the 2nd play of the game, I knew it was over. I think we just ran 5 different plays the whole game, 6 if you include our powerful punt formation. Bottom line is the offense was completely lost, we had no chance. Murray couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with his passes and we couldn’t block for shiite. Very dissappointed in the coaching and overall team energy tonight, we looked like we thought we should deserve the win without putting in the effort, top to bottom. Just like the Falcons in the offseason, we will have change at the coordinator level. LLYFF

Delusional Dawg fans – how come spurrier beats another UGA team loaded with 5star recruits. I hope next years recruits were paying attention! Coaching beats talent any day.
SCAR owned every facet of this game…obvious observation. UGA is no longer an elite football program. Period. And now the nation shares the same opinion.

I too just listened to Richt on the post game interview. It was surreal. He talks like this was just a small bump on the way to much greater things. He was like, meh, no big deal. Whatever.

p.s. the Dow has rebounded from the Bush years of 6600 to 13,500 so working all my life and saving to stocks and mutuals for my retirement like I was advised by elders is looking alot better now, whew. only a fool changes horses in the middle of the stream.

USC’s defense was absolutely dominant….no reason why we should lose to South Carolina three years in a row, but CMR is a great man and a great coach….USC will lose to LSU and UF and we’ll be back in Atlanta for the SECCG. Tech and Auburn lost so it was still a great day.

There is not another college in the SEC that would hire Mark Richt if they needed a football coach. Not a one. #18 and #19 are just two Dayum thugs at best and they don’t give a sheet what Mark Richt or anyone else on the staff thinks! Steve and his staff handed Mark and his staff their azz on a platter and made them like it. Too funny.
