Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

******* SPECIAL BULLETIN *******
Ringling Brothers has just announced that the circus has hired the entire UGA coaching staff. The assistant coaches will trade in their playbooks and whistles for clown costumes and painted faces. Mark Richt has been appointed as Head Clownmaster and will supervise all Ringling Brothers clowns.
Fred Ringling, owner of Ringling Brothers, gleefully announced that Richt was the most qualified clownmaster, having coached clowns at UGA for more than ten years. He then presented Richt and the assistants with their shiny new clown noses.
Richt acknowledged that the circus has been having difficulty hiring enough clowns in recent years, but his first act was to drop the requirement that clowns be able to read and write, and that it was okay if they had a rap sheet. “After all,” he said, “this policy worked well for me in Athens, where I was used to dealing with bozos.”
Please join with us in wishing Mark Richt well in his new position.

Man oh man. That was fun watching the dogs get exposed by the Gamecocks. That was about as bad as what LSU did to them. All those dog fans bragging about how great their team was and they hadn’t even played anybody. They finally have to play somebody and they wilt.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. What a bunch of pretenders.

Nobody’s reading this by now but here goes … I’ve been a Richt fan for far too long. We beat the teams we’re supposed to but never the ones we need to. We are consistently getting out coached and yet our coaches get raises. I’m living in Florida and its been quite a while since I’ve been able to walk in to work after a big game with my head held high. Richt is a nice guy and a wonderful human being but we will continue to be mediocre while under his watch. No killing instincts. GO DAWGS!

Stop the negative comments about Richt, Bobo, and Grantham. All you loser UGA fans got exactly what you wanted. You all wanted the loser Richt back, and now you have him. McGarity is the worst A.D. UGA has ever had, and this dumbass gave Richt new contract and extention. Richt will go down as the only coach in UGA history to lose to S.C. 3 years in a row. That is all that needs to be said. S.C. and now Florida has passed this idiot, and Dooley at Tenn will pass his pathetic ass next year. Yet all UGA fans think he is wonderful because he beat 10 mediocre teams last year. My GOD, UGA has become the laughing stock of college football, and there is no relief in sight. Because UGA has an A.D. and a head coach that aren’t accountable to anyone. And UGA has an O.C. and a D.C. that don’t have to answer to anyone, because the head coach is a total joke. If this isn’t the most embarrassing loss in UGA history, then tell me what is. Yet, nothing will be done, and the pathetic Richt will kiss SOS’s ass and S.C. and go back to hiding under whatever rock he can find. For all of you Richt lovers, do all UGA fans a favor, and get lost, and take this pathetic excuse for a head coach with you. UGA deserves better, and this guy and his assistants need to get out of town. If McGarity doesn’t do anything after this, and if this ball less clown says he will wait until the season plays out, then UGA should fire him Monday morning. What in the hell are UGA fans waiting for????? Richt, Bobo, and Grantham to suddenly wake up and coach. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

The evil genius got the dawgs again. Now 3 in a row. We now own the dawgs. What a beat down. UGA should drop out of the top 5. I have said all year they were overrated and tonight proves it. LSU also lost to the Gators. I say the rankings should be 1. Bama 2. South Carolina 3. Flordia.

If Spurrier had the resources that Richt has, he would win the national championship year in and year out. There is just no comparison between their coaching abilities. When is the last time UGA won a big game? This was a major fold, but they will end up 10-2 or something like that and everyone will be hollering “Go Dawgs.”

Clearly, disappointed. Time for coaching changes. Too much talent for the record. Richt can be blamed but I believe his supporting cast is doing him a great disservice. As well as a ton of Dawg fans. It is time for change. Accept it and make the coaching changes so these Dawgs can get back on track. That may be the biggest lesson that has to be accepted.

@ we steal ruin this state: I am Northside (Warner Robins). You are fooling yourself if you believe Gainesville, Buford, Rabun County or any other one of those mountain programs can compete with Northside. Our Eagles traveled to the #4 team in the state to open the season. It was a record crowd at Flowery Branch. It was also a record beatdown…a merciful 45-7 win for Northside at Flowery Branch. I reiterate, “there ain’t no stupid, like mountain stupid.” We played an overhyped Habersham Central (with Tavares King) program a few years ago and hung 56 on them. Beat your north Georgia chests to someone else. Rabun County = Bad football (before and after Coach Shaw)

kerryb, it is a matter of talent and expectations. Tech is Tech. Tech fans don’t eat, breathe, live, and die for the football team. Many (most?) UGA fans do, with an arrogance and condescending attitude towards Tech that is really annoying, given the recruiting advantage UGA has. UGA should have a fistful of NCs by now, given that it has so little competition for top talent in this state.

@Joey. Probably not. We’ll probably go get in some kind of war of words with Kentucky now. We are quickly on our way to being in a battle with Kentucky and Vandy for whatever spot in the SEC that is. CRAP Football!! I sense from a couple of Tech fan comments we stunk so bad it embarrassed them too because we both have the name Georgia in our titles!!! That is incredible

Don’t forget the homer end of seaons look-back of ” Hey, we lost to the team who won the SECE / SECCG , which isn’t bad at all”.
No matter how badly they beat us, make no mistake, SC is not a great team by any means. This has to be the single most embarrassing display of UGA football in decades. There are losses by more points and losses of greater significance, but I can’t remember ever being this ashamed and embarrassed, even after the UCF bowl game.
This should be a job-ending event for some coach or coaches, even if it has to wait until season’s end. No excuses to come in this unprepared, and then be completely unable to make on-the-fly adjustments the entire game.

The sad part is will probably still win 10 or maybe even 11 games this year on our weak schedule, but we’re just as far away from the elite as a 6-6 team. I don’t know when people are going to wakeup and realize Richt has done a piss poor job recruiting on the O-line. We also look completely rattled in big games and unprepared year after year. When will the madness end?

I have tried to pull for CMR, but he will NOT get us to any championship. Sadly or should I say happily, it is time for him to go. Really, Georgia is mediocre at best and we have no future with CMR or the coaching staff. CMR clearly is fine at 8 – 4 or 9 – 3. We well NEVER compete for anything until a complete and full change of guard takes place. HOW LONG do we have to wait? 0 – 3 vs USC, just plain embarrassing.
