I'm guessing this Gamecock fancies his team's chances, too. Other Gamecocks do. (AP photo)
Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

UGA coaches are a disgrace. Look at the millions of dollars paid to those clowns. A loss is one thing, but this was total humiliation.

Well Well Well….Tech is having a tough year but last time I looked we still owned 4 national championships! UGA…..1. At least we took it to Clemson for 4 quarters. You were whooped before the 2nd quarter. Go Spurrier!!!!
_____________________________________________________________________
No matter how bad we looked against SC we will still kick Tech’s a** as usual.
________________________________________________________________
A little bitter about your annual tromping by USC? As bad as UGA looked tonight, a victory against Tech is not a given. UGA was exposed and they may very well have 3 losses going into the Tech game, even with their cream puff schedule.

@ we steal run this state: Coach Shaw is winning because there is no competition for nearly 100 miles of Rabun County. Like they say, there is no stupid like mountain stupid. Rabun County will get exposed the moment they play any team with talent as every North Georgia mountain program does.

Any thoughts of a BCS championship are likely gone, but UGA still has plenty to play for. I am sure they will take this beating out on UK next week.

@kerryb: Georgia rarely lost gams because the previous head coach loaded our program with top tier QBs that had leadership qualties. David Greene and DJ Shockley were different level players than this fraud from Florida that Richt has handed the program to. The guy will not last 12 months in the NFL.
__________________________________________________________________________
I completely agree, Greene and Shockley would not look like deer in the headlights against teams like this. Murray is a total wimp. He always is in panic mode against good defenses.

I just hope from now on, we can just quietly play our games without fanfare and limelight, and ease down to Shreveport or Memphis and just enjoy our “great man” coach’s 9 wins per year.
Isn’t it about time for a raise?

I’m a very dissapointed UGA fan. Bobo seemed to go back to his old ways, this actually started late last week against tennessee. USC is stacking the box for the run, murray is a third year starter with a stable of receivers, yet bobo decides to run the ball the first two downs so that murray has to throw on third and long against the best DE tandem in the nation. I take part of that back, in the first half UGA did go three and out running the ball on third and 14, what I like to call a give up play.
Tech fans, you lost to middle tennessee state, you should still be in hiding.

Since 2008: 2-14*

disappointing doesn’t begin to cover it. Great game by Carolina. We got exposed on a lot of fronts tonight and I don’t believe the defense is the problem.

moo-face,
Murray can be pretty good? Since win? Against Division II teams? Aaron Murray is so turnover prone in games that matter that it isn’t funny. The even bigger issue is that he turns the ball over for points and kills his team even more so. He needs to be benched and Hutson Mason needs to be given a chance to salvage a college career. It has been said he’s the superior passer anyways,
NOW, the entire game was not Aaron Murray’s fault, but his patheitc play did not help, and since he commands the offense, you need something better. Who runs a 4th down play from the two for one yard, where the receiver doesn’t run his route into the end zone, and then a quarterback throws him the ball where he has to break two tackles in order to score? Just plain stupidity.

@ Southern Eagle: GSC lost to The Citadel. The Citadel! On the horizon is Wofford (beatdown), App State (blowout) and Furman (loss). Stop the chicken chirping. GSC Eagles will be lucky if your QB has 50 completed passes on the season. This is, by far, the worst wing T (option) QB to wear a Georgia Southern uniform in school history. If I am lying, name one worse (that played the wing T). GSC will finish the season with 4 losses. 6-5 GSC season. Guaranteed!

@eaglenation, No, he is winning because he’s a great coach. He may not have the talent that other counties have, but he is coaching what he has. Competition is relative. Whoever you are, Buford or Gainesville would kick your a@@. Both are less than 100 miles from Clayton. Mountain ain’t stupid.

But ive never seen a top 6 sec program get blown out so often over the last 5 years. And the inability to beat a ranked team in years speaks volumes about uga.

I just wanted to take my lumps and show up. Props entirely to USC, they have an extremely good team. I knew they would win, I was just hoping it would be competitive. Do take note that I talked no trash this week. I’m not that stupid. Anyway, now that I’ve had my one to two drinks my little body can handle, I’ll be okay.
Hard to comment as I didn’t really stick around to watch.
To TampaGator and Beast from the East – good luck. They are going to be a tough team to beat, but I will be rooting for you to win the East over Spurrier.
Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M – game of the day. Sorry, Ole Miss. I really thought you would pull it out. I rooted for you, and I think I jinxed it. You are a much improved team from last year. Don’t give up.

Quick! Someone name the Georgia program that will get violated by the highest numbers of mediocre South Carolina programs this season.
Hint: Georgia Southern College (already lost to a hapless Citadel program…and will likely lose to Furman before getting blown out by Wofford). It is laughable that a GSC Chicken poster is on this board pretending that GSC is good this season. My brother played for GSC and he & his teammate (who attend every home game) tell me that this is the WORST team playing the wing T in school history.
