I'm guessing this Gamecock fancies his team's chances, too. Other Gamecocks do. (AP photo)
Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

Four more years of Mark Richt. Four more years of mediocrity punctuated by devastating losses to top ranked teams. God help us.

Guys I’m no Aaron Murray fan either, but Johnny Unitas couldn’t complete passes with Georgia’s offensive line in front of him. You can’t complete passes from your back.

Mark Richt = John Cooper, Ohio State (with a weaker record versus ranked teams – Cooper just lost to Michigan every year)

I sense that something good will come from this game. A coaching change. I sense the season about to take a nose dive and surely we will not tolerate a mediocre season with all this talent. I’m done if we do!!

UGA is NOT the 5th best team in the nation, that much is obvious now. Way overrated. Richt, while a nice guy, simply does not have the fire and discipline to handle a program like this.

Y’all think we practiced this week. I don’t know what our defense did this week but I can tell you this our defense is full of individuals and I bet espn never does a gameday that georgia is involved in bc we always get our head kicked in and look like we don’t care in the process. No fight in our defense I saw them give up tonight. Whenever uga gets any positive talk we always manage to look the exact opposite. Last time on national tv we got beat by lsu and boise and now south carolina and another thing our recruiting class this yr is big but lacks talent. We are only getting like one kid in the top 10 in the state bama has about four and auburn has some too.

Derrick Henry’s decision is looking better and better by now. I questioned him coming to Tuscaloosa and the log jam at running back, but I understand it now. He wants to win, plain and simple. Nick Saban would never trot a team on the field that came out as flat as Georgia did tonight. I feel bad for second guessing him, but he is looking smarter every second now.

I retire from your crap. You are obviously a prostitute to the advertisers on AJC. Year end and year out, you make predictions about this team (11-1 this year) with out really ever suggesting what those records truly mean. You straddle the fence wonderfully, appealing to both the fans of GA and the advertisers. But we all know you can’t straddle and have any balls.

Before Mike Bobo became the OC UGA rarely lost games on the road the first 5 years under Richt. Even against top teams. Now we make a habit of it. Bobo’s inexperience and the ability to prepare his offense, game plan, and adjust his play calling during a game has really hurt this program. I guess Richt is going to stay with him until he himself is fired. The defense righted itself after those first 2 TD’s but with the offense going three and out so much the defense just wore out completely. Bobo had one good year in 2007 with a REAL top QB and a good running game with Moreno and Brown but that has been the only year.

Horrible game plan against a serious defense. Inability to protect any QB’s blind side, makes a good QB look bad.

I find it very interesting that so many Dawg fans point to the assistant coaches. Now, it is Grantham’s fault. Richt hide behind Martinez, then Bobo and now Grantham. This is his under-prepared program. I can not think of a top tier program’s head coach that hides behind his assistants as much as Mark Richt. Richt (and Aaron Murray…a mediocre undersized Florida QB with FBS skill set) apologists should be ashamed.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ho ho ho ho ho ho. What a butt kickin!!. The dogs look like a bunch of whipped pups. They puppies haven’t even been a challenge for the Gamecocks. The dogs have built a soft schedule, so they have been playing a bunch of patsies and now when they finally have to play a good team, they are completely exposed. Dog fans were lapping up all those easy wins and went downright delusional thinking they had a championship team.
