Live from Columbia: Georgia aims to bag the Big Chicken

Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

We were 10 and 4 last year. SEC East winner. CMR loses 1 game and all the haters come out.
There are loses. And there are ass whippings. GA has not been able to complete with the last 4 quality teams they faces. They have been embarrassed by all 4.

I don’t want to hear ANYTHING about Murray’s records. The only one that matters to me is winning the big games, and he doesn’t. Choker.. This is an embarrassing loss…team was poorly prepared. SC defense is good, but come on.

I don’t think our players look flat – the players are unprepared, poorly coached, undisciplined, outclassed – I think it a coaching issue. Our players would beat the heck out of the other team is we had that team’s coaches. I say that with some reservation because I’m not quite sure that we match up well on the line, but that’s a coaching issue, too.

Mediocre team with real good players. I don’t know what it will take to move to the next level but this proves we are not in top tier of conference….let alone the nation.

I am glad herbstreit is talking about how flat we are but every time we play a big team we look flat and scared. I backed up murray bc he was a freashmen and sophomore but I agree with others he is not a top caliber qb. His eyes said it all in the first quarter he was nervous and scared.

Struggling for words… I am done watching the debacle. This more than any other game has convinced me that Georgia will never be an elite team under Richt. Unfortunately with our new scheduling philosophy we can go 10-2 every year without ever beating a team that matters. We will lose to Florida, but no way Richt gets fired for going 10-2.

I’ve been a long time hater of Petrino. Well before he screwed the Falcons. however, the man can win in the college ranks. He has the A$$hole personality that is needed to be a winner. Saban, Miles, Meyer, and Spurrier all have it. If you look at the real coaches in the SEC they constantly win and have very few issues off the field. Richt does not have that “it” factor. Hime keeping Bobo after last season showed he was comfrotable with mediocrity. UGA will never be a real contender as long as he’s there. I never thought I would see UGA surpassed by South Carolina as a SEC powerhouse

There is no getting beyond this kind of loss in NCAA football. It’s not about wins and losses like the NFL. ESPN will not allow us to live this down anytime soon. But… we deserve it. We played poorly in every aspect of the field.
Hoping for a spot in the Good Housekeeping Bowl.

Give USC credit…they are just better…i am totally at a loss at how pathetic we looked tonight. I am sick of this. Not that we lost, but just the total domination in all aspects of the game is quite disheartening. Totally unacceptable. Win the rest or Richt is out….period.

OVERRATED! On national TV Herb and Brent both commented how BAD the Dawgs look. When are you guys going to get it. You’ll a mid tier SEC team with Alabama, LSU, Gators and USC the elite teams. 32 years since your national championship. Since then, Gators have won two, Auburn one, LSU two and Bama 2 of last 3…….I’m loving this!!!!
