Live from Columbia: Georgia aims to bag the Big Chicken

Columbia, S.C. – Big game here. Maybe you’ve heard.
Listening to the pregame show on the radio riding in — and here let me note that it took Team AJC nearly 2 1/2 hours to negotiate the final five miles — was to hear a heaping helping of Gamecock bravado. Every interview (including one with the famous South Carolinian Darius “Hootie” Rucker) went thusly: Interviewee paid tribute to Georgia’s talent, then opined that there was no way the home side could lose.
I think the home side can lose. I picked South Carolina to win this game several months ago. (I also picked Georgia to finish 11-1 and still win the SEC East and the SEC title.) But Georgia has been the better team to date, and I say this largely because, as a Kentucky graduate, I’m leery of any team that trails the Wildcats by 10 points after two quarters.
Beyond that, I’ve got nothing that you don’t already know. Whoever wins will be in Position A to claim the East — yes, I realize Florida is again looming — and I’m fairly confident someone will win here. I invite you to join me as we ride along tonight, and I can only hope the game itself moves faster than the inbound traffic. And, as ever, I thank you in advance.

The USC blocker on that punt just tackled our gunner from behind. Side judge looking right at the play and no flag. Same play he got away with on the punt return for a TD. Watch the replay, the USC guy is completely behind the UGA player, then the UGA player trips.

I am a diehard UGA fan but this is enough. Our entire coaching staff can not coach a big game! It makes no sense the talent we have wasted during their tenure. We will never be nothing more that a 8 win team till a change is made!

I predicted earlier this week that Ace Sanders would take at least one punt to the house because Richt would overlook him. Of course, CMR thinks the special teams get a bad rap. Florida will absolutely wax UGA. Watching this crap is like deja vu. Can’t wait to hear Richt’s “all our goals are still reachable” post game blather. And to think people were talking NC. Wow, what a farce.

Mike Bobo has to be the worst play caller of all time. Against poor defenses he’s creative as hell, but against good teams he throws in the towel. Off tackle run on 3rd and 17…just forfeit the game and go home if that’s the best you’ve got.
