Live from Athens: Me, I’m thinking UGA wins easily and calmly

Athens – I can’t imagine Todd Grantham and James Franklin renewing interpersonal hostilities tonight. Such things don’t happen two years running. Did Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz get all huffy over another handshake when the 49ers and Lions met again last Sunday? Nope. Did John Chaney threaten to kill John Calipari more than once? Nope.
I expect this to be a well-mannered game on the part of the coaches, if not necessarily the players. (Young men will, as we know, be young men.) I also expect Georgia to win by at least two touchdowns. I can’t see a team, meaning Vanderbilt, that lost by 11 points at Northwestern two weeks ago coming here and keeping it close.
But I’ve been wrong a time or two, and tonight could be another of those occasions. Vandy could win. Franklin and Grantham could trade bon mots, or something approximating them, at 10 paces afterward. Whatever happens, I’ll be here to watch, and I’d appreciate your company. I thank you in advance.

The 2nd teamers need to be in this game by mid-3rd quarter. Get those starters out and give the backups some reps.

Not so Fast…..
The Gator OL is one of the better ones in the SEC….and they have played the last three games without two of their best OTs….in Chaz Green and Matt Patchan. Both will be back for LSU. And GIlisslee is leading the SEC in rushing…..and Driskel is a highly rated QB. And Jordan Reed might be the best TE in the SEC. And Chis Hammond and Quinton Dunbar are playing very well at WR. The offense is controlling the ball and giving the D some rest….which they did not get last year. Florida is no longer a spead offense…..but Muschamp has the Gators playing BAMA ball….although they are not in that category yet.

Yeah Tampa, my best friend is a Gator. We used to go to Jacksonville every year to the game together. Once, about 20 yrs ago sneaking into the swamp and tossing the football and frisbee around. Pretty cool place

Watching LSU vs. Auburn gives me a lot of hope for the Gators in two weeks. But one game is not another….as we all know. But Auburn is matching up well….which is a huge surprise. I think Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida might be up there with LSU now…..but not sure that is the case with Bama.

As a longtime fan, I will say that this is the best tandem of running backs at Georgia since the days of Henderson & Worley.
If they stay healthy (and smart) there are many victories in the future.

funny you said that. When I was at Florida…..I took my bordie collie into the Swamp one night….it used to be open all the time…..and played frisbee on the field until they ran me out of there. That was fun….and I was a stupid kid back then. Will never forget that.

I think all Georgia, Florida, and SC fans feel that way. I think the big difference is Bama’s head coach. He is so much better than Miles at LSU.

Is this a great night of college football or what? My wife just heads out with friends on Saturday nights…..and I love that about her. But I treat her right on Fridays and Sundays…..and she loves that about me. All is fair in love and marriage.
