Live from Athens: Me, I’m thinking UGA wins easily and calmly

Athens – I can’t imagine Todd Grantham and James Franklin renewing interpersonal hostilities tonight. Such things don’t happen two years running. Did Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz get all huffy over another handshake when the 49ers and Lions met again last Sunday? Nope. Did John Chaney threaten to kill John Calipari more than once? Nope.
I expect this to be a well-mannered game on the part of the coaches, if not necessarily the players. (Young men will, as we know, be young men.) I also expect Georgia to win by at least two touchdowns. I can’t see a team, meaning Vanderbilt, that lost by 11 points at Northwestern two weeks ago coming here and keeping it close.
But I’ve been wrong a time or two, and tonight could be another of those occasions. Vandy could win. Franklin and Grantham could trade bon mots, or something approximating them, at 10 paces afterward. Whatever happens, I’ll be here to watch, and I’d appreciate your company. I thank you in advance.

What I’m really curious to see is how Grantham is able to game plan for offenses that he has gone against previously, now that his honeymoon period is over. I expect significant improvement against Vandy over last year’s performance, despite the absence of Ogletree and Rambo.

Yeah, Paul Johnson needs to be called out on that decision to go for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal. I’m saying it now (sadly), I think Tech has a new coach by next year.

Yeah Tennessee is before USC and that game scares me. As good as Richt was early in his career his teams always lay one dud no matter how good they are. Anyone remember the Florida game in 2002.
