Live from Tech-Presbyterian: I’m picking the Jackets again!

My prediction regarding Georgia Tech’s opener didn’t pan out. (Though it looked pretty good with 44 seconds left in regulation, I must note.) Undaunted, I offer another. Here goes:
Tech’s tilt against Presbyterian tonight will not be the greatest game ever played.
So there am I again, out on Ye Olde Limb. Just can’t help myself.
Presbyterian is an FCS program based in Clinton, S.C. It is the smallest (enrollment: 1,200) Division I football operation in the land. Its nickname is the Blue Hose, doubtless to differentiate it from the Boston Red Sox. It played two ACC teams in 2010, losing 53-13 to Wake Forest and 58-21 to Clemson.
The Blue Hose went 4-7 last season. Last week they won their opener 45-10 over Brevard, about which I know nothing. (OK, now I do. Mr. Google tells me Brevard is located, oddly enough, in Brevard, N.C. Its nickname is the Tornados.)
About Georgia Tech: On Labor Day night it came within one play of registering the biggest victory this program has known since 2009, and the hangover effect from that squandered chance in Blacksburg could be mighty. Then again, the difference in manpower figures to override the vagaries of glumness.
Beyond that, I have little to offer. This is one of those games I’d abolish from all collegiate schedules were I king of the world, but at last check I’m not. My appointed task tonight is to sit here and observe, and I’d appreciate some company. Thanks, as ever, in advance.
UPDATE! OK, I lied. Tech just took the field and has broken out another in a series of new uniforms. This one is the same as the one worn against Virginia Tech, with one exception: The jerseys are blue. And, according to Tech’s media guide, blue is not among the official school colors.
Old gold and white are the designated hues, with blue and black worn for “contrast.” This look is, I must confess, quite the contrast. But maybe you’ll love it.

That was a touchdown earlier. The ball did not come out until Days’ hand hit the back of the lineman’s leg. The lineman was standing in the endzone. Ergo, the ball had to cross the plane before the fumble. How is that inconclusive?

that is the kind of mentality we need to have. any score by any team under any circumstances should NOT be tolerated…. by any of our players be it 1st 2nd or 3d string.

I have to say, I like the way our ACC schedule is looking. UVA hasn’t look good so far, Miami’s rush defense has looked awful, Clemson will be tough, BC is BC, UNC didn’t look good against a mediocre Wake Forest team today, and Duke is Duke. As for VT, I honestly think they’ll drop a few.

The home uniforms look better at 52-0 than the road unis did at 17-20. Hey MB, I don’t know what the media guide is basing its information on, but the official GT licensing site has a different story: http://www.licensing.gatech.edu/colors.html. If my memory serves correctly, they use to say the colors were aztec gold and navy so my is that they tweak them as apparel contracts change.

while i love the gold…. everytime we have gold letters it is so hard to figure out who is who because the gold doesnt show right on tv.
on a similar note instead of the flags that they gave away with ticket packages i would rather have seen them distribute out those one piece plastic rain parkas that you see golfers use on a golf course. …. in our favorite color of old gold.
they are cheap. can be stored in a pouch. lightweight. can be worn over a coat n tie (for the old guard).
we can give them out to the students. sell them in the concourse and in the book store.
instead of having to BEG folks to wear while on game day the whole fan base would have cheap plastic parkas with hoods all in the same color of gold re pleat with a gt logo.
you can buy them for your kids to wear to school. etc etc etc.
