Not sure that either team is elite. VT has issues big time on the OL and at WR. GT has QB issues until they get a true consistent passing threat. Neither team gets within 2 TD’s of FSU right now. Clemson probably beats both of them.

Still think GT can win 9 games. VT is not good enough to just hand the division title to just yet.

What else does Mark have to dwell on when it comes to Tech?

Mark – How come CPJ doesn’t even try to recruit 4&5 star recruits…Is he a fool or a coward?

He has to harp on it...

…since he went all the way up there – the drive was awful (see his “live” blog comments on Monday) and then the game turned crappy, to add insult to injury…

Very few beat Va Tech on their home field. Tech has nothng to be ashamed of in this close loss.

The Braves need to start positioning Chris Medlen for the 1 game WC playoff game.

They blew the chance, which had been a good chance, at winning the division. I’m not exactly sure if the choked or if they’re just not that good. It did take FG way too long to put his best lineup on the field. Why is that, why does losing take precedence over the obvious?

“Very few beat Va Tech on their home field. Tech has nothng to be ashamed of in this close loss.”

Indeed. Impressive moral victory for the nerds. Georgia Tech football has more moral victories than any team in the nation. This is a fact. Paul Johnson is doing a wonderful job at “almost” beating the good teams. He is a legend.

I have to admit that the last 45 seconds and the OT made it well worth saying up for.

Love to see Techies broken hearted, which actually is a lot.

Mark,

Great video! Us Tech fans want more of these from you! Yeah, Washington was cursed with Reggie Ball decision making. Johnson will be in a lot of heat if he loses at UGA this year. 1-4 will lead him to one more year, but Tech fans do not want someone who is 1 win better than Chan Gailey against UGA. If you can beat UGA, you can win the ACC, that should be your measuring stick.

Again, more video (like more cowbell)!

There is a reason why the triple option went out of fashion: Other teams figured out how to shut it down. In his first two seasons, CPJ went 19-7 and won a (now vacated) ACC title. Since then, he is 14-13, and Tech has lost six of its last eight games.

It doesn’t get better, Techies. It only gets worse.

Bradley, you seem so very versed on GT football. Paul Johnson is awaiting
your phone call/ contact before finalizing his game plan for Saturday’s game.
Let all Jacket fans know how your plan is received and how all that works out for you.
In the mean time go back to ou overranked, no defense Dogs.
Note, if you don’t call CPJ soon, I am sure he will contact you…

You don’t have a 2009 Championship. The 2009 ACC Chump trophy has always been in Athens (30-24) and then we gladly handed it over to the NCAA when they came for it. It was taking up space in the janitor’s closet. We tried to get rid of it at a couple of garage sales but nobody wanted the piece of junk.

Thanks.

Despite the loss, there were a lot of positives for the Jackets to take away from the game Monday night. I was very proud of the effort put forth by our student-athletes. I seem to recall a team from Athens that lost it’s first game of the season last year and went on to have a pretty good season. There is a lot of football yet to be played this season and I’m looking forward to it! Go Jackets!

CPJ has seen all of Chan’s boy c ome and go in his system. They are all gone. The guys that CPJ recruits, we not even at mid level of the hapless ACC.

The Presbyterian game will be a 45-12 thing for usre but that type of game is really where GT is most comfortable, playing teams like that.

Va Tech was FLAT and could have cared less about GT coming to Blacksburg. Also, the Va Tech QB is a no talent bum, true tight end trying to play QB in a very weak league.

GT will be fine. They will win 9 unless they think they can lay low vs some of the many no bodies that they have to play. UGA if healthy, will destroy GT by at least 24 points. BALANCED teams will give GT fits. UGA right now IS that.

CPJ is on the HOT SEAT !!

Thanks Mark, I now have complete confidence GT will win the conference after your 3rd or 4th in the conference prediction.

I’ll never forget your words in 1990 that the UGA basketball team was better than Tech’s. Tech’s lethal weapon 3 of course reached the final four that year.

Best I’ve seen Tech since 2009. Va Tech is a very difficult place to play especially the first game of the year and against probably VT’s best defense ever according to coach Foster. I might be wrong, but I don’t see Tech losing another ACC game with Clemson being the toughest draw, and their defense is not very good.

Who is claiming any kind of victory here? You seem to think we should all kill ourselves because we lost a close game to a good team on the road. It really isn’t that big of a deal. Teams lose games sometimes. As a UGA fan you should know that.

“Stealing “T’s” is a longstanding tradition at Tech; it began decades ago when students began stealing the T from the Tech Tower on North Avenue.”

You confuse moral victories with not getting upset over close losses to good teams. Unless you go undefeated every year, which no one does, then you are going to lose some games.

Uh, Tech fans genius. I thought I made the clear. You know, the ones who want everyone to give Tech some kind of credit because they “lost a close game to a good team on the road.” Sorry Techies but there are no points for second place. Try to keep up Bob.

“It really isn’t that big of a deal.”

I am well of aware of the fact that losing to a good team is not a big deal to Tech fans. Paul Johnson still has a job doesn’t he? Not only that but you morons still think he’s a good coach. OF COURSE losing to every good team that you play is not a big deal to Tech fans. Duh Bob.

That’s why Bradley keeps talking about it DawgNole, becuase he knows Tech should have won the game. His pediction was looking pretty good with 44 seconds left in the game. Most didn’t give Tech a chance…

dawgfan, PLEASE point out ANY Tech fan that is pleased with this loss…or any OTHER loss, for that matter. If you’re referring to the term, “Moral Victory”, that was a term used by an AJC writer a couple of seasons ago. Of course, mutt fans like you jumped on that like a milkbone dog( Correct spelling) biscuit! Isn’t uga settled on 2nd or 3rd best? When was the last time y’all beat a ranked team? Perhaps, you confuse optimism with jubilation…we hate that we lose any game…but, we maintain an optimistic attitude when it comes to our team. Lord KNOWS, calling for a coaches head hasn’t yielded uga anything…y’all do it after EVERY loss! Try not to choke on your Hateraide…wipe your chin…that stuff is going to stain your wife-beater!

Dawgfan and others who post so negatively about GaTech… Must do so for one reason. At the heart of it GaTech is trying to build a team and be a constant contender in the ACC. Its obviously getting closer but its not there yet. The same can be said for UGA (although are they getting closer??) and GaTech must remind them of themselves in this sense. I mean they can never beat the Gators year in and year out… and never will. Now that you have the super powers in the west (LSU and Bama), even if UGA wins the east. Its almost pointless, its the lamb for Bama or LSU to slaughter (and they will again this year) to solidify their bid for a National Championship game. This must be extremely frustrating considering the talent that UGA brings in year in and year out (despite losing 7 from the dream team). To be honest with you the answers to UGA’s problems seem harder to solve, than GaTech’s. The Yellow Jackets need to recruit a little better for B Backs. Imagine what Gurley would do as a B back. Any how this is why you see so many UGA fans posting on Tech blogs…

Santa Monica Jacket

You guys are mistaking Dawgfan’s comments.. He likes to trash GaTech because it reminds him of his beloved Dwags all to well. GaTech is trying to build a team that can compete for an ACC crown every year. UGA is trying to do the same in the SEC. Like us they can’t seem to get over the hump. They lose to UF year in an year out. Meaning they hardly ever win the East. When they do win the East its meaningless, because they end up just being the lamb for SEC West super powers to slaughter and solidify a National Title bid. GaTech needs to recruit a little better at certian positions, the obvious one is B Back.. UGA already recruits really well, and in general remains irrelavent in their conference and on the national stage…. This has to be terribly frustrating…
