Mark I think Josh is going to stay. For me this is the most excited I have been since they got back into the playoffs years ago. I think there will be a offer for Eric Gordon. I can see that happening.
Myself and other knowledgeable fans on this blog like Rod From College Park were telling you fools that Josh was the best player on this team. It took a real basketball man (Ferry) to get you idiots to realize this. All Josh needs is pieces around him, a committed ownership group, and a real head coach.
I truly think this is addition by subtraction. It may hurt our depth to lose the talent we did in Marvin and Joe, but I think the chemistry of the team (especially the starting 5) will vastly improve. My hopes are that we see the ball in Teague’s hands more, finishing with cuts to the basket by Josh and Al for easy dunks. I think LD can put a starting five on the court that understands their roles and don’t have to worry about deferring to the $100 million dollar man anymore. But I realize I’ve said I think a lot and we’ll just have to wait and see.
Don’t get down on these Hawks – Teague, Smoove, Horford and Zaza are a feisty group. Just give them a shot maker and put the rest at the rim. They’ll still be an above average defensive group as well.
Also, @ rollo – we weren’t doubting Josh’s talent, but if he was going to pout and moan and give ATL the proverbial middle finger like Joe did after the playoffs two years ago.. we were happy to see him go. Why should we care about someone who doesn’t care about us?
Danny Ferry is a Duke educated man. Us “so called fools” know Josh Smith is still here because Ferry hasn’t been able to get even a “bag off balls” for him yet. There is no way Josh Smith will sniff another contract offer from Ferry. He knows his Big Men need to play big and Smith can’t do that. Smart coaches will lay off him and let him throw up brick after brick. The man can’t shoot and apparently has never had a coach tell him that. If he’s not dunking he’s not scoring.
@Barton – as a long-time Hawks fan, I felt Josh’s pain. He is a fiery player. I love that. He just needs to learn to channel his emotions better. This fan-base is funny. You gripe and complain about Josh wearing his emotions on his sleave, but blast Joe Johnson for being emotionless and having a “don’t care” attitude. Figure out what you want and get back with me.
In addition, ownership has continually given the fans the “middle finger” by some of the moves they were making or lack thereof. It appears they’ve gotten it right with Ferry. Wish they would have let him pick his own coach though.
LOL @ Christian L. David Aldridge just said on NBA TV that the Hawks kept the two best players of the Core 4 (Al and Josh). Besides, if they trade Josh, who will protect the rim once Teague’s man blows by him?
Who will be the 5th man here? Who’s out there that can be had in free agency? We don’t have much else to trade but draft choices and we are going to need them.
Hawks made the playoffs this past year without Horford. They can do the same this coming season without Joe Johnson. I don’t think they’re hit as hard as MB thinks in the short-term.
Sign Oj Mayo and try to get Kaman too if we cant deal for Dwight… i just grew tired of watching joe go through the motions and if anybody noticed this season T-Mac stayed in josh’s ear basically telling him we can go only as far as YOU take us knowing that Joe is not someone to run your offense through because he dribbles the air out of the ball and the ball ends up in josh’s hand for those ill fated jumpers! anyone ever wonder why the ball would even be passed to him on the perimeter to begin with?
Couldn’t agree with you more about ownership Rollo.. I don’t think that’s a fact anyone refutes. To clarify, I’ve always been a big supporter of Josh and never a big supporter of Joe. I used to hate going to Hawks games as a kid and see the arena filled with Michael Jordan jerseys and still wonder why a generation of true Atlanta fans hasn’t emerged yet (although I think it is close). One such reason may be that ownership gave a guy (Joe Johnson) who said he could give a damn about the fans, the richest contract in the sport at the time. I consider the fact that I continued to follow the Hawks and support them after that to be self-destructive behavior I should probably talk to a shrink about.
I also don’t mind players being emotional on the court, but don’t pout while you’re playing and certainly don’t insult the fans who pay money to go to the games (I could care less about the ones who don’t) by talking (even implying) about your exit strategy or how great other fans are compared to yours. Steve Nash is the PERFECT example of how you should handle yourself in the NBA – the consummate professional.
Josh played an inspired second half of the season and I won’t let a few of his lapses ruin his entire body of work, but if he is going to be the Hawks’ best player, if he wants that respect, and if he wants fan support, then he has to do a better job as a professional. Incidentally, I think with Joe gone that Josh will do just that. Being “the guy” is something that seems to motivate and bring out the best in him – I was at that OKC game last year when, without Joe and Al, Josh got Philips roarin to a win.
Patience Hawks Fans and potential fans, Let Danny finish cost/benefit analysis on possible other deals, not to mention free agency. l am impressed right now. l am expecting more great news in the future. Stock pile draft picks, do not trade them. Teams that can properly evaluate talent can and will build through the draft. It is only way to keep from being anchored down by millionaire contracts. GATA Danny.
@ Rollo – I just typed up a long response but the blogmonster ate it.. in short I agree with you. Ownership kills fan support and gives Atlanta the reputation it has for fanship, but as a player you should still show some love for the ones that do give up their hard earned dollars to come and see you play.
I never liked Joe Johnson, nor did I ever want to watch another Hawks game after he said he could give a damn about the fans, only to be rewarded with the richest contract in the sport at the time. The fact that I did is evidence of self-destructive behavior I should get checked out.
Josh needs to become a better professional. Steve Nash is the perfect example of what I’m talking about as far as how to handle the contract situation. Avery Bradley is the perfect example of how I think every NBA player should be out there playing. I’ve seen more hustle in pick-up games for the full time of the game than I do sometimes in Hawks games. That being said, I was there for Josh’s game against OKC when they were without Joe and that was inspired. That also summed up the incredible second half of the season he had. I won’t let a few lapses by Josh ruin the whole of what he did for us this season and in the playoffs. However, he needs to improve if he wants to be “the guy” and have that respect with the Atlanta fans. I think he’s making the right decisions and taking the right steps and I think Joe being gone will catalyze the process.
Mark. I agree with your earlier accessment about dwight howard. Other than the big marketing piece he would be, the guy is overated as far as his offensive skill set and dominating games. I wouldnt say i wouldnt take him, but its no major loss without him. Just get a small forword that can shoot and pair him with another nice shooting guard and leave horford down low at the five…….
man, so much fun to follow this offseason as opposed to last few. did you guys see the cover page on espn’s nba page today? it said “atlanta dream” and had a picture of dwight, cp3, and smoove….sooooo soooo cool.
even if it won’t ever happen, it’s cool to see atlanta getting some media attention. and it can keep us dreaming…
Colin Cowherd made a point this morning that I think many of the NBA “insiders” (Broussard) are missing….Atlanta is a destination city for many athletes, especially in the NBA. The problem has never been that players didn’t want to come here, it’s just that the management has been horrible.
I say Atlanta should hold on to the players they have for this year, and not worry about Howard. He isn’t the kind of guy who can take a team to a championship IMO. He’s no leader. Do whatever it takes to get Chris Paul here next year.
Think about it: A destination city with loads of cap room and two B+ players in their primes (Smith and Horford). Also, the opportunity to get a new coach in here (I’d like to think that Ferry wants his own coach) and you have a chance to land a major star for the first time in ages.
As for this year’s team, I can’t see them doing anything other than competing for the last playoff spot in the East, but I’d rather be in the Hawks situation than Orlando, Washington, or Charlotte.
I am a long time fan and I am finally really excited about this team again. I am a JJ fan, I am a Josh fan, and a Horford fan – but for whatever reason, it did not work. Every Hawks fan knew what we were going to get last season – same as the season before and the season before. It was time to jump off and do something to revamp. Horford and Josh will make up one of the best forward combos in the league. Let’s get a center (and it does not have to be Howard – maybe even take a run at Hibbert) and start rebuilding this thing.
Joe did a lot for this franchise – let’s not forget that Woodson had him leading the league (on near the top) in minutes played. He looked outta gas – but still was giving it his all. Thanks for all you did Joe, but I am glad to see your contract go.
Danny Ferry kicks ass! Danny for Governor! I am positive about what is going on with the Hawks. I am starting to imagine Chris Paul in their future. Wouldn’t that be exciting?
So glad to see Marvin Williams out of there—he was under performing, had a lousy attitude and a drag on the whole team.
It’s obvious that Howard wants out of Orlando, and that whole situation is an embarrassment to their club. Do you think they would trade him to Atlanta for Horford and Harris, and a couple of the Nets we just landed? They won’t get much later for a short term rental, unless they do a sign and trade, and I would think that would be a pretty fair trade? Teague, ?, ? Smith, Howard would be pretty dominant!
Rings are for Winners…Blue light specials for losers…
Thus far, the Hawks haven’t won jack…
So, why is everybody taking a victory lap?…
The future looks bright, any and everything is possible…
Yeah right, we just gave our playoff spot to Brooklyn…
Theyre bragging how they fleeced us out of our 6x Allstar…
Theyre teaming DWill, JJ, Howard together, not us…
6x All-star + Olympian for what???…
Even Marvin fetched more than JJ…
Now what, give away the rest of the farm???
It took 10 yrs to get back to respectability…
We’ve seen this before, the end game is …
Big Dog Robinson, Sharif Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff…
Or today’s version of washed up, has been, never will be…
Like a bad B movie, the writing’s on the wall….
Elden Brand, Kwame Brown, Vince Carter…
Oh my…we’re doing it the “right way”…dirt cheap
Guess what? D.Howard aint coming…nobody is…
This is a facade, an illusion, classic salary dump…
The Hawks are back on the market boys…
Vecsey already called them out…
He may not have all the details… but he knows..
As long as Josh Smith is playing PF and Al is playing C there is no growth to be had for this team and Ferry is as lost as Sund was. Any starting level C with the team we already had would have put us at ECFinals status. Give away your most accomplished player and still don’t address the on court issues.
People can keep on saying Josh and Al are the best two players and that may be true but Joe is the most accomplished player with all-star wins and a team USA nod. Josh has done nothing but dunk and quit in the middle of the floor when things don’t go his way and alienate teammates while disrespecting coaches.
These is a very stupid approach if Al and Josh are playing PF and C next year or if Zaza is your starting C.
Finally a GM with a backbone in him way to go danny ferry i love a person who starts off gettin a NBA title here…Now we hope ASG owners would go away n stuff still not go games but will watch on tv…. and idea change uniforms back to 1970 look also be a great idea to The original Home n away jersey are uniforms they had when move to atlanta…..change it to them!
FINALLY!!!!!! We have a GM that knows what he is doing… 1st week on the job, he gets rid of the albatrosses around the team in Johnson and Williams… I know he i going to run things the right way, probably transform this team onto the contenders they should have been a long time ago… I want to see fo the tam’s next move… to change the jerseys back to the 80s ‘pacman’- of course updated with that Hawks head for the logo- no need for that bird holding the ball anymore… I am excited at what Danny Ferry has done…Hawks fans should be excited as well…
@Mark, saw the video clip. Nice piece. So what is Plan B? I felt we were that same place after the 98 season. Still need a small forward. the only move I liked was Marvin for Harris. We only needed one piece . Now we are saying get rid of Teague & Horford. Freeing up cap space for who. We built this team on draft picks so now we scrap winning for losing for 8 more years.
Still trying to see what everybody likes about Ferry move.
@Tyger think you are on point.
I think Ferry is a very good evaluator in terms of selecting players with good work ethics and have efficient skill set. I don’t think losing JJ will hurt this team. Remember, the hawks did not make the playoffs until they draft AH and the signing of Mike Bibby. With the addition of Maurice Evans and Jamal Crawford the hawks decame above .500 team.
I think Ferry will eventually get us a very good center – one who shoots a high FG/FT percentage and has good work ethics. I wish jj and MW well but I doubt losing them will hurt the team that much.
With some luck, we could land Chris Paul and D Howard next season. With those guys, the hawks will win a championship.
I’m so tired of reading the same drivel by one person using 5,000 different fake names. How about a filter that records the ISP’s and requires one name only ? Its 2012 ya know ? AJC’s IT dept. must be inept ?
Do you people who hate the NBA but love the NFL realize that the real reason is bc the percentage of players who are white is much, much higher in the NFL?
Don’t insult everyone’s intelligence and keep feeding the baloney that it’s bc NBA players get into more trouble. If you actually believe that, you need to pay much closer attention to the headlines.
** A contributing factor could also be that basketball uniforms allow you to see a lot more of the tattoos.
The guy left the blog at 2:46am and returned at 6:23am to waste another day blogging. But I guess if AJC filtered him then they’d only have about 5 bloggers period.
I agree with some others in thinking that we need a bigger body than Al to play the center position. Trade Josh (preferably for draft picks) and move Al to PF.
We really need to get down to the basics of building through the draft and supplementing that with free agency. Remember, free agents are usually overpriced (as are a lot of veterans). Keep a young team with some vets sprinkled in. Do it like the Thunder, Grizzlies, Bulls, and 76ers. We can’t attract the top free agents right now anyway.
All u dimwits that are moaning the loss of Joe dont know business OR basketball. He was being paid an elite contract, but he IS NOT an elite player. He is good, not great. He is NOT a leader. I dont blame him for signing the deal, I blame former management and ownership for offering it to him. Lets take it on the chin maybe this year, but 2013-2014 will be something to see. Chris Paul wants to come here…all we need is a servicable center and a new head coach. Larry drew is prob gone too…Good job so far D. Ferry.
Viva Danny Ferry! We are actually back in the NBA business and not sitting at the kids table anymore. So tired of us being clowned on TNT and ESPN. I believe Danny will get the pieces that we need. I’d rather sacrafice 10 wins to get better.
JJ never said he didn’t care about ATL fans. he said he didn’t care whether the fans showed up, which is exactly the kind of player you need in ATL, because most of the time the fans don’t show up.
It grates on me to say this, but I have to agree with Bradley. In order to get to the next level the Hawks had to make wholesale changes. Don’t get me wrong, I liked our team, they won, but for whatever reason, they’d hit the ceiling. With the cap room that Atlanta has freed up, they can be big time players for premier players in 2013, and hopefully have two first round draft picks to boot! I have to say, Ferry’s made a good first impression on me.
I am a JJ fan and I agree that he is NOT a 20 million per year player and the Hawks had to trade him in order to get better. Now, somebody please tell me what made Al and Josh the best players on this team? Al is a good player and a better leader but is far too limited offensively to be your go to guy in crunch time. Josh is a good player, but he too is far too limited offensively to be your go to guy. If he had a right hand and played 17 feet and in he could be exceptional. I love what they both do well but to say they are better than JJ is a stretch. JJ’s points have been down the past two years not because of diminished skills but because more shots go to Al and Josh. JJ’s contract has drawn unnecessary criticism to his game but if you look at what he brings to the court, are there 3 better shooting guards in the league? Are there 3 better PF/C than Al? Are there 3 better PF/SF than Josh?
Dont know but im pretty sure there are some SF’s out there willing to come to Atlanta. And now, more guys will be willing to come becuase Sund is gone and Ferry is already showing that he knows what he is doin.
But i know if i were the Magic i would jump on the offer from the Nets. BUt its just too many snags in that trade at the moment.
I read all the comments. The Hawks have a good team but the hawks have been having a good team the past few yrs. the ownership & the FANS have not did their job to help make this team better. Why I say the fans…it was so dang on embrassing to the players & true hawks fans like myself to hear MVP chants for Kobe & Lebron. Our fans don’t show up to the game even though we have a winning record. As an elite player why would you want to play in front of a bunch of fans who don’t support your team through thick & thin.
I have confidence in Ferry, I have confidence in Drew, I have confidence in J Smoove, Al & Teague. That being said I think Ferry need to sign Grant Hill (we can get him cheap & he’s a true leader on/off the court), OJ Mayo & Hayward if he is released by Dallas as rumored)
Come on folks, lets be realistic here…sure Ferry’s, at least, trying to do something, what it is we don’t have a clue…yet. I mean if we’re talking about freeing up cap room to compete for free agents after the ‘12-’13 season…assuming they’ll still be able to be free agents come this time next year. The best that can be said now is he’s doin something but as of now it’s bettin’ on the come…but at least we’re bettin’.
LIKE IVE BEEN TELLING YOU ALL ON HERE JOSH FA PRESIDENT! !! GLAD U IDIOTS FINALLY SMELLED THE COFFEE. EXPECT A PHENOMENAL TEAR FROM #5. PS FA A POWER FORWARD HE HAS A NICE JUMPER
Bradley
You sir have no idea what you are saying when you reference the “curious” relationship between the Hawks and the fans. The relationship has been soured because of horrible draft picks, bad contracts and awful management. The fans (like myself) simply want to stop being screwed by ownership! You make it sound as if Hawks fans are stupid that they cheered seeing two players traded away. IMO that makes us discerning and educated fans because Marvin and Joe were getting us no where. The ceiling had been reached and it was time to move on.
The fans here LOVE the Hawks and are excited about a new direction. We as fans just want a winner. Ferry seems to agree. We finally have a gm who is making bold, smart moves.
I think we should look at Louis Williams, wouldn’t that be something. L. Williams, J. Smith and Dwight Howard. All Atlanta boys. WOW! I’m not sold on Teague being a bigtime PG. Would he start on any other Final 4 playoff team? He is a piece but not the answer. You would be surprised how good Josh and Al would be if they had a great PG
Maybe Ferry will move this team to Raleigh, heck they have the RBC center ready to go and who in their right mind cares about this franchise ??? I sure do not and never will ! Please move, heck maybe ever winnipeg ??? And take the lying owners with them !
Joe Johnson is gonna torch the Hawks when the Nets play the Hawks he’s gonna show the Hawks how he can perform by having a legit PG to play with and having better coaching.
I hope the Hawks bring back Vladimir Radmanovic. He is able to hit the threes that were designated to Marvin Williams. He proved early in the season that he could fill that role but once Marvin came back, LD stopped using him and that wasn’t entirely fair. BUT Drew himself last year saw that Vlad Rad has the skill the team needs:
Joe Johnson is gonna torch the Hawks when the Nets play the Hawks he’s gonna show the Hawks how he can perform by having a legit PG to play with and having better coaching.
————————————————————————————————————-
He torched evebody but thats all he did until the playoffs..Then he performed his disappearing act..
Like the trade- don’t like the players we got in return. Bigger problem is Larry Drew– we need a real coach…
——————————————————————————————————————————–
Keep these three things in mind..Most general managers like to hire their own coaches.Danny Ferry left Cleveland because he did not agree with the owner’s decision to fire Mike Brown..If the Lakers dont go far into the playoffs next year…I’m not saying but I’m saying.
I have heard just how good Dwight is! I kind of wonder if he would be bad for the Hawks the way he did his coach in Orlando. He seems so selfish. That offsets his talents. We have to ask ourselves what kind of team would we be with “Baby Huey”
Things getting clearer for you boys yet? Nash goes to Lakers for a bag of chips. Two time MVP for a bag of chips. This is what happens to good franchises. They don’t give stuff away like we did with Joe. They get presents like the Lakers always do. Where is the real move to make us look like what we are which is a top 10 size NBA market? Where is the elite player walking through the door for a bag of chips or simply because he wants to be a Hawk?
Ferry is getting praised for giving stuff away. Bradley I am glad you said most people because not all of us see what Danny has done as anything special.
I’m afraid Billy King is going to win the battle of the “Dookies”. Danny Ferry gave away the Hawks best player to make a splash and pacify the local idiots. He bought himself a few years with that trade. However, now he’s going to get his ass kicked by the Nets for the forseeable future. Lest we forget the Hawks were a stupid play by Josh Smith away from a possible trip to the conference finals. Who blows up a team like that? You people deserve what you’re about to get.
As someone said earlier, Atlanta is a destination city for alot of players. But only after they retire. If I could play I wouldn’t come here. Why would I want to get up every morning and read the drool of Mark Bradley and Jeff Shultz and play in a half empty arena? It’s easy to blame the owners but in the end the answer is in the mirror.
Joe is gone (great)
Josh, Al, and Teague are still here (good)
Dwight Howard is not coming (bummer)
Larry Drew-up-another-loss is still the coach (terrible)
Hawks (7th seed in East) first round exit.
Vast improvement coming in 2013
Danny Ferry has been great so far, to get a trade for Joe nad Marvin is almost a miracle.
Mr. Ferry may prove to be the best GM in all the major sports in the ATL.
Thanks to Rick Sund, he did what he had to do under the restraints with which the Spirit Group may have operated. The killers were the two previous GM’s not Sund, and ownership had to field a winning team to get the fans excited, based on where the franchise had fallen to.
Credit must be given to the Atlanta Spirit Group for making the move now to get Danny Ferry to move the franchise in a different direction. We trust he will get the full support of the ownership group.
Ferry’s not finished. Let’s wait until October when camp opens and see what we have. Why speculate about Howard and Paul. Let’s see who we have under contract in October and go from there. Al Horford is the Hawks Chipper Jones. Put Horford at PF and get an average center that prevents easy layups and gives us 8 to 10 rebounds is all we need for the season opener. Let Ferry do the rest.

I agree but that Center is not on this team and there are very few in the league. Ferry would actually have to make a skilled trade to get that and he has yet to do that yet. Harris for Marvin was not even really skilled because Utah really needs a SF and Marvin is not a bad player just was in a bad situation. Plus, they would rather not pay Harris what he is getting paid to produce at a backup level
Dave McMenamin: Pau or Bynum trade the next shoe to drop after Nash? Not so fast. Source tells me Lakers intend to keep core intact to play with Nash Twitter
so we are the only suitors left for Dwight. Lakers no longer interested
Ferry has only been here a week. Give him time to throw something together. Plus I wouldn’t worry about being better this year, even though I think we can be just as good. But if we miss the playoffs, so what. This team is going in the right direction. Teauge and Horford are legit members of this team. no need to trade them. Josh Smith is a keeper. No need to make a run at Chris Paul unless he puts us on the short list. Same with Dwight Howard.
Let Ferry do his thing. He’s already shown he knows what he’s doing.
All of the so-called inside info comes from bloggers that stay inside way too much. I’m sure the owners are selling the team and only you have the info.
Most of the excitement is centered on the possibility of acquiring Howard. I get that, but I am more turned on by the possibility of acquiring Chris Paul. If I were Ferry, I would send “friends” to have a series of lunches with Paul and his “friends.” The purpose of these non-official talks woud be to find out what it will take to get CP3 to sign with us next year.
This is the NBA the only way we get better is through the draft, we have two first rounders next year, lets suck really bad and get a lottery pick , trade josh for a third pick, keep Al, Teague
To anyone thinking the Hawks got fleeced on the Joe trade, I just don’t understand. The flexibility of being out from that ridiculous contract is a very valuable thing … much more valuable than having Joe on the team. Now there’s room to build a roster whereas before there wasn’t. Simple. I think it’s a miracle he was able to unload him.
Ferry is working it to improve the team. Was not a Ferry fan but changing my mind.
I hope the fans understand next season maynot make the playoffs – but these moves need to be done.
If the Hawks can make it past the 2nd round – this city will arrupt. ATL is a sleeping giant for the NBA.
On the college side of hoops – GT appears to be recruiting well and it will be fun to watch how this coach builds his program. Not too sure about the Georgia Dogs team – I think the coach is talented – but to be real – why go to that school when football is what it’s about over there. I think they will struggle to get the players they need to be top end team.
Falcons made some moves with the staff and I like what they did and can’t wait for the Birds to be dirty again.
College football – GT will surprise some folks and be a good team.
Georgia Dogs always seem to be right there – but always lacking or missing something for them to be great – not just good – but great. I hope the RB Crowal kid will come out ok and find a better path. I have been dwon his path and people just don’t understand how influences when you are 18 or in your 20’s and living in bad aprtments or projects – but if can survive and grow up and drop or change people you hang out with – he will be OK. He has talent and hope he makes it.
@ Cat Shabazz – no comments on Braves? You dang near commented on everything else! Enjoyed you post and liked your thoughts on Isiah Crowell. I hope he makes it as well! Good post.
Has anybody informed poor misinformed Jim Anderson on the clause in the Hawks purchase agreement for Phillips Arena that keeps them from leaving Atlanta? Whistling…
Thanks to Joe, and Marvin. It wasn’t all your fault, as I’m sure knowledgeable fans agree. I appreciate the level of commitment you gave to an apathetic fan base, and an uninspired mgmt. Good luck with your respective new teams.
We need to trade Josh Smith for a lottery pick and trust Fery to use that pick and next years 2 first round picks to rebuild this team around Horford and Teague.
Josh Smith for a real Center should be option #1. Houston is not a playoff team so we are not getting that pick next season so I agree that Josh for a lotto pick should be option #2 but I don’t see why that was not done this year better players were available. I am not on board with Ferry thinking he knows everything he does not have the track record that says that. Only thing that says that is his ego. I don’t like what he did in the draft with Jenkins. Don’t like giving away Joe for no talent in return. Don’t even like the Devin Harris move.
Look at all those expirings we have. Guys have to eat and all those expirings will create a lot of guys just going for theres on the court. That is what happens when bad teams have a lot of guys playing for contracts you get selfish play.
Funny how the clowns still whine about Johnson’s contract….when hawks come out smelling like a rose, as most of that contract now has to be paid by nets for a deteriorating player…plus we got a couple of good pieces in trade (especially the draft pick)..
Josh Smith for a lottery pick? Get real people!!!!!! I’d start the bidding at 3 popcorn vendors and they might get a parking lot attendant and a case of peanuts. I’d take it in a minute.
VERY EXCITED ABOUT DANNY FERRY. WITH RICK SUND, THE HAWKS WERE NEVER GOING ANYWHERE BUT HOME. SUND, WHO KEPT A CELL PHONE STUCK IN HIS EAR AND DID NOTHING, DIDN’T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT BASKETBALL. YOU WILL SEE THE CLUB COMPETE FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP NOW WITH FERRY. GREAT MOVE BY THE HAWKS TO HIRE HIM
Are we in the hunt for Dwight? If so, what do we give up for him? Al Horford/Teague? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Horford is a Beast together with Josh they can be a Threat to win every time they enter the court. I would love to have Dwight, but at what price? Here’s what i think, we can offer Orlando two first round picks and Al, the second first rd pick comes from the Nets for Joe. what a price to pay. should we go for it or stay put in the Dwight hunt?
I’m happy to see the Iso-Joe offense go. Dribble…dribble…dribble….try to take your man even when there are wide open shooters to pass to. Dribble Dribble dribble…the opposing team double teams and you still try to show how good you are against TWO defenders…ignoring the open man with a pass…dribble dribble dribble…time runs down on shot clock you throw up a shot. Yeah that got real tiring to watch. Now maybe we can have more driving to the basket, passing, and role-playing …. you know like a real basketball team. Now if we can get Josh to stop thinking he’s a shooter, work on an inside game, and listen to coaching this team will get drastically better.

Mr. Bradley,
It’s obvious that Howard wants out of Orlando, and that whole situation is an embarrassment to their club.

I hope the Hawks bring back Vladimir Radmanovic. He is able to hit the threes that were designated to Marvin Williams.

Everbody should know that when the Hawks payroll is reduced enough they will be sold and moved out of Atlanta. That’s what Danny Ferry’s job entails.

Horford and Howard would be the best big man tandem in the game. That sounds sweet to me if Ferry could make it happen.

Thanks to Joe, and Marvin. It wasn’t all your fault, as I’m sure knowledgeable fans agree. I appreciate the level of commitment you gave to an apathetic fan base, and an uninspired mgmt. Good luck with your respective new teams.

Ferry did a nice job on this….
