Mark, we was noticing that when Simmons got here and started catching some of those balls hit on the ground, the pitching was suddenly “better”. We was also noticing that when Chipper got back in the lineup and waving his arms like a windmill at anything hit to his left or his right . . . suddenly the pitching wasn’t so good again. Defense makes pitching work better. The left side of the infield has been a mess more than it has been good.

Clusters: Why are you so anti-Chipper? I do not believe anyone who posts on the AJC blogs has said so many negative words about this future HOF.
You seem to be obsessed with your dislike of Chipper.

We read that Chipper has webbed feet and possibly as few as two toes. That would explain some of his problems with his feet. We know this won’t be received well by some true fans on here and that’s too bad because Chipper is the closest thing to a deer on the team and that’s not because he runs like a deer but because he THINKS like a deer.

Joe Simpson is priceless. No, make that clueless. He just suggested that the umps don’t call strike three on Yankee hitters because they are the Yankees. And he was serious.

Clusters – Mark is a handsome man.Are you and he related? On a positive note Chipper needs to retire now and let the productive players in the game. We need Constanza now in the line-up for more speed.A hit and more speed means more runs and then maybe we want have to retain so many doctors just to patch Chipper up. It will free up some money for the players we need. Hey Stinger2 – Sonny is a GREAT AMERICAN!!!!

And this is why choppers 2 for 3

I’ve never posted on a blog of any sort before, but I couldn’t stay silent after watching the atrocity that just unfolded in the 8th inning…this loss lays squarely at the feet of Fredi Gonzalez…I’ve seen all of the comments this year about his lack of managerial skills, and although I’ve agreed with most of them, I was still ready to give him the benefit of the doubt…NO MORE! If he doesn’t apprehend the importance of the 8th inning enough to realize that Venters is not his go-to guy, but that with the game on the line he needs to bring in his best pitcher in the bull-pen, he is even more clueless than I once believed…how embarrassing

Chasjons

Been watching Braves for 35 years. Fredi is the worst manager we have had in terms of tactics. Why oh why would you not bring in Kimbrel in the 8th when venters is laboring???????? I am so sick of managers that use their closer exclusively in the 9th with the lead that I have to throw up. I put this one 100% on Frediot. Venters threw the pitches but Fredi could have saved this game. I really do not like Fredi as our manager. Sorry. Seems like a nice guy though. We succeed despite Fredi not because of him.

Chasjons

I ain’t done. Fredi needs to go. It won’t happen anytime soon, but the guy is a buffoon. He is a member of SABR, but I’m guessing reads Ziggy the comic strip more than he does pour over the numbers. He is a bumbling Frediot. Doesn’t even realize when he makes a mistake. ” got to tip your hat to the Yanks hitters” he will say after the loss. I wish someone other than Capitol Avenue Club writers would call him out more! How many years and games do I have to endure with Fredi? He has shaved a couple years off my life expectancy.

Entering the 8th inning the only thing I was thinking is thank the world this stupid manager’s utter idiocy hasn’t been a factor. That’s how this team overcomes this pinhead; either shutout pitching and/or a barrage of runs…just keep his dumb azz mining his eardrums.

The smart manager in the other dugout can see his pitcher is doing well so let’s him pitch in the 8th inning. The stupid manager, his pitcher being totally in command all night, takes his shot of a possible best pitching memory–a shutout against the Yankees–after a one out weak seeing-eye single with one out. I swear, as soon as that dolt came popping out of the dugout I just couldn’t believe he was pulling his left handed starter, one out, up 4-0, and brings in another lefty to face what–a lefty?

If anyone on here thinks for a moment this idiot of a leader–the one whom I was against from the beginning, the one who blew last September, and the one who will blow this season–is a manager league baseball manager, please do us all a favor and just log out.

I was thinking what a defining moment this could be for Minor’s career and the Braves season.

Wow…just wow

Mark, how can you resist? You have to see this too!

Plunk Stray Rod!

The Truth hurts

June 12th, 2012
10:04 pm

Even if you bring in Kimbrel against A-Rod in the eighth, you at least USE him. Here we are in the 9th with our best pitcher sitting in the pen twiddling his thumbs. Stupid decision. Sometimes, you have to play your cards early and gamble. Now Minor has to deal with more head games instead of getting a boost of confidence. This is why the Yankees win titles and the Braves consistently fail.

Chasjons

Options: 1) bring in Kimbrel and he stops the leak in the eighth, but lets a run in. Braves lead going into the 9th 4-1. Bottom of the 9th bring in Martinez or possibly leave Kimbrel in

2) let Venters out to dry with serious shaky stuff and hope he holds on. If he does bring Kimbrel in the 9th. If he is shaky bring in Gearrin.

Hmm tough call. I am just glad our best reliever took a day off. Tip your cap Frediot.

This is 1996 all over again except back then we at least lost with our closer Wohlers. Frediot aint no Bobby. Rarely gets thrown out defending his players the way Cox did. I thought Frediot would clone Cox. Not so. Not so. Frediot marches to the beat of his own drummer.

Our manager just lost another game by mismanaging the bullpen. Why is Ventners brought in in the 8th inning? He’s flawed. Don’t know why, but there were many better choices to succeed Minor, leading 4-0. Fire the manager! He’s cluless!!!!!

CommonMan

Venters was off tonight and gave up the grand slam, and the game was tied at that point. But of all the relievers, Freddi could only think of putting in Gearrin??? I saw this move and said “we’re finished” – and sure enough they hit him for two. I just can’t believe that we threw away the game!

Freddie is a bum

June 12th, 2012
10:22 pm

Well, Freddie outmanaged again. Please do some writing on how the worst manager in baseball and the Bobby Cox protege continues to manage at this level. He’s trash and everyone in baseball is laughing at us.

Freddie is a bum

June 12th, 2012
10:26 pm

What do you expect? Wren grabs to turds in Hernandez and Durbin at the beginning of the season. Eric and Johnny are done. Period. We have one reliever. But either way, Freddie needs to be fired tonight for bringing Gearrin in again after he looked like garbage and got lucky in game one. Freddie is a total clown. The Marlins knew it. We should have after the collapse last year. But no, idiot Wren just sits here and lets him take a talented hitting team and collapse series after series. This game and the Toronto game is why Freddie is the laughing stock of baseball. Good call Wren. You can leave anytime you like.

Why does Gonzalez continue to put Venters in when he can’t throw strikes and when he does they get hits and runs off him because he is behind in the count?

10:46 pm

I see what you guys are writing about me. Who else could I have brought in the 8th? Kimbrel? That’s what you numbers geeks probably think (laughter in the background). Kimbrel is our closer. He is there to close games. You cannot close a game in the 8th. There are 9 innings, not 8. Take that number geeks (more laughter and smiles from Homer Simpson and company).

Mark Bradley wouldnt dare write a bad article on Fredi Gonzalez. He will have a poll on Larry Drew but Fredi is the Braves golden boy and MB would dare not bad mouth the Braves. But Larry Drew has actually won a series in the playoffs but Fredi cant even make the playoffs but MB will never say anything bad about Fredi
