Live from Athens: UGA hooks Harvey-Clemons – or does it?

Athens — Here we are at Butts-Mehre, sometimes known as Dawg Mahal, and you can cut the tension with a … well, you know. It’s Signing Day, and the biggest undecided name in Georgia’s sights is about to pledge his troth. (Or, to use a more contemporary image, don some school’s baseball cap.)

And Josh Harvey-Clemons, the linebacker from Lowndes, picked …

Georgia.

For the record, Harvey-Clemons did not do the now-tiresome hat trick. Instead he allowed his younger sister to take off one sweatshirt to reveal a red Georgia shirt underneath. Style points!

And that, you’d have to think, would ease the doubt some Bulldog fans had over this class not being ranked as highly — at least not by Rivals and Scout — as last season’s. Harvey-Clemons gives Georgia the No. 1 player (at least in somebody’s ratings) in four different states.

UPDATE: As of 3:07 p.m., Georgia hasn’t received Harvey-Clemons’ signed letter of intent. Which means he isn’t officially a Bulldog yet. Asked about the holdup, recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner said an hour ago: “Sometimes you have to wait.”

This kid is really pissing me off. Im happy he chose the Dawgs but his antics are showing his true character. Fax in the LOI or go elsewhere , stop acting like you are a celebrity and grow up.

@ Dawg – JHC wants to come to UGA, but his grandfather wants him to go to Florida and is refusing to sign his LOI. It has nothing to do with JHC.

Only way you lose a player like this after he commits is with some serious $$ being passed around to the family. The screwed up part about it is that the kid has no idea what’s going on or what’s motivating his family to want him to change his mind.

All of you idiots talking smack to JHC need to STFU. He ain’t him. The problem is his legal guardian – his grandfather.

Evidently someone promised something they haven’t been able to deliver, and may not be able to collect their fee.

And Gramps, don’t give me that “Florida’s closer, and I want to be able to see him play” BS. Every single Georgia game is on TV. If you can’t afford cable, you damn sure can’t afford to drive down to Gainesville 7 times each year to attend the games…..unless it’s a fees paid trip.

Just hoping the situation works out to the kid’s benefit, and not to the benefit of some unscrupulous adult.

The selfish Old Grand Dad is not concerned about the player but more concerned about himself. Jus give the money back and let Josh go where he wants to go. How old is Josh? Why does he need the old nit wit’s signature. If the selfish old man won’t sign then Josh should refuse to go anywhere until he is of age to sign for himself. Gramps sees Josh as a goldmine down the line so he should just be patient and let Josh go to UGA and get properlu prepared for the NFL. Wake up Gramps. If gramps forces Josh to go to Fla or FSU then I hope his prunes quit working and he fills up till his eyes bulge out.lol

“[Will Muschamp] came to our regular service about a month ago; I guess Coach Richt doesn’t want to let Coach Muschamp beat him out with going to church with us,” said Josh’s grandfather, Woodrow Clemons, WITH A LAUGH.”

(A greedy laugh at that)

“It created quite a stir when Florida’s coach showed up at church last month. “We gave everybody a heads up, and they were surprised to see [Muschamp],” Clemons said. “AND THE COLLECTION PLATE WAS EQUALLY SURPRISED.”
