Josh Harvey-Clemons of Lowndes: With whom will he sign? (AJC photo by Phil Skinner)
If you follow college football, you cannot ignore recruiting. Even if you think it’s overblown, attention must be paid. As Jamie Newberg, the ESPN recruiting analyst, said Monday: “Those stars [rankings for each recruit] do mean something. You just have look at the national champions the last 10 years to know that.”
Then this: “But then you look at a guy like [Virginia Tech's] Frank Beamer — he’s never in the Top 10 [of recruiting rankings] but he gets the guys who does what he wants … Paul Johnson has done a good job in that way, too.”
Paul Johnson, as we know, coaches Georgia Tech, and Tech is often seen as an afterthought on National Signing Day. The SEC schools load up on five-star guys and the Jackets make do with lesser lights, and when you look at the rankings — and we all do — Tech is never in the Top 10. But here’s Newberg on this Tech class, rated the nation’s 57th-best by Scout.com: “This is a typical Tech year … They find a way to get it done.”
Newberg mentioned two Tech commitments — and here we stipulate that commitments aren’t binding until somebody signs something; Wednesday is National Signing Day — to buttress the point: Francis Kallon, a defensive lineman from Central Gwinnett who committed to Tech before ever playing an organized game, and Travin Henry, a receiver from Cook County who committed Sunday night.
“Kallon is one of the best stories I’ve ever known,” Newberg said. “And I watched tape of Henry last night, and I thought, ‘Holy smoke! Where did they find this guy?’ He’s big. He can be another Stephen Hill or Demaryius Thomas.”
Georgia, as we also know, is rather different: The Bulldogs do pursue the big names, and if there’s any consensus on this class it’s that it’s good on big names. Georgia has garnered promises from the top players in Florida (offensive lineman John Theus) and North Carolina (running back Keith Marshall) but has, as of this writing, only 16 commitments. Which could, suggested Chad Simmons of Scout, be the reason for the disparity in the Bulldogs’ ranking.
Both Scout and Rivals.com have Georgia 21st nationally. ESPN tabs the Bulldogs fifth. “I’m not exactly sure how ESPN goes about it,” said Simmons, “but one thing that could put Georgia down is that they have only 16 commitments. Miami has 32, Alabama has 27, South Carolina has 25. It’s strictly a numbers game on the top end.”
According to Tom Luginbill, the former Tech quarterback who is ESPN’s national recruiting director, numbers are the least of it. “The difference between us and everybody else is that we don’t look at it as a mathematical equation,” Luginbill said. “We dissect the current rosters of the teams — where they’re devoid of talent, what they need to do to address needs and have they done it? … Our way doesn’t allow us to fall back on a numerical head count.”
In ESPN’s considered opinion, Georgia has filled needs nicely. Luginbill mentioned defensive tackles John Atkins of Thomson and Jonathan Taylor of Millen as fits “in the zero technique [meaning nose tackle]” for Todd Grantham’s 3-4 defense. And the addition of Marshall and Todd Gurley should offer depth at tailback, a position at which Georgia ran thin in 2011.
Ran thin? Despite the presence of Isaiah Crowell, the crown jewel of last season’s banner class? Well, yes. Crowell had one of the strangest rookie years in the history of humankind — he was named the SEC’s top freshman, but his absences, due to suspension and injury, left Bulldog fans wanting much more.
Said Simmons of Marshall and Gurley: “These two guys are high school All-Americans. They’re going to push [Crowell] to make him better. I don’t think he maybe he worked as hard as he should have. Marshall is the No. 1 running back in the country — he has the same type of notoriety as Isaiah, the same type of offers.”
The widespread belief is that Georgia could still spring some Signing Day surprises. “It’s a good class right now, but they have to add some pieces,” said Simmons, and he mentioned linebacker Josh Harvey-Clemons of Lowndes and offensive lineman Avery Young of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., both of whom are uncommitted.
Said Newberg: “It leads to a very intriguing Signing Day for Georgia.”
You’ll recall that Georgia’s class of 2011 was so loaded it was christened the Dream Team, and many of those heralded signees have yet to make a splash. Is another banner crop needed so soon? Yes, Newberg said. “The SEC is so competitive you can’t afford a down year. Alabama is recruiting at such an unbelievably high level, you’ve got to at least stay with them.”
If you follow college football, you must take heed of recruiting, and for that reason Signing Day is the single biggest date on the college football calendar. But I’m guessing you knew that already. I’m guessing you’ll stay tuned.

Bradley you are like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Richt is getting beaten AGAIN in recruiting. Is it really that hard to understand why his record has been so mediocre? 4 of your best players in the state are going to Alabama this year. That’s not an issue?

Bamaman, wake up dude, 180 kids will sign from this state, Georgia is filling its needs nicely, How many starters from the state of Georgia did bama have last year?( 2 )They had 2 recruits from the state in 2011, You should worry more about Saban and his roster management practices and less about UGA.

I believe teams that change coaches have an advantage in recruiting for the first 5 years. Young kids love the next best thing. Saban therefore has that advantage on Richt. The Dawgs are doing fine in recruiting. You can’t keep every kid in the state and we are consistently getting some of the best from other states. Go Dawgs!

Bama is on the top of the mountain – and they are simply feeding the beast at this point.
LSU is almost there with them – just at a higher level when the play in sync.
For the EAST:
Could have 3 teams with 6-2 SEC RECORD in 2012:
UGA needs to capitalize now – FLorida might be working out kinks, but is loaded! – better beat them now. USCe at Columbia – could Gamecocks win 3 in a row over UGA. Murray seems to freak at times in the big games, Prediction – will lose to FL and USCe – 6-2 SEC.
USCe – I think, along with Florida – the team to beat in the SEC East. If they beat UGA – then the SEC East will be decided on a head to head against FL – and USCe last game against ARK. USCe should beat ARK this year. Both FL & USCe play LSU.
Florida – Gators are loaded – should come down to LSU, UGA, USCe.
Vols? Well, that humble pie is pretty sour – but will finish 3-4 or 4-4 in SEC play. Predict Losses to AL, USC, FL, UGA – hope to upset one of these teams – UGA the most likely candidate – but UGA will have to choke big time. Other games are MS ST. MO, VDY KY. Dooley’s first two recruiting classes impressive – this year is really good. 2013 is the year when Vol fans should be concerned about how we stack up against USC, FL and UGA
At any rate – I really like Mark Richt – a class act. I think he represents UGA really well. This coming from a fan totally embarrassed by Kiffin. I do hope he can lead UGA to a national title one day. However, not sure what is lacking but UGA does not seem to have the fire it had in Richt’s early years – and something is lacking at UGA – whether it is punting the ball to the Badger in the LSU game – instead of quartering the field – they find ways to beat themselves by a lack of strategy, execution or just giving the dang game away (see USCe).
Good luck next year – but in 2013 – fear the VOL!

UGA filled needs at RB, which was nice. However, if they don’t pull at least one of the big stud OL they have targeted, they will have failed on this recruiting season. OL is their biggest need and the top three OL in Georgia went to our SEC rivals. Getting Clemons and Williams would be nice, but Young and Greene are MUCH more important. Another note is UGA got challenged in the state by Bama last year for the first time. Richt held them off last year and signed the “dream team.” Bama came right back this year and cherry picked a few blue chippers, including at positions of need for UGA. Not a good sign. Next year the two top players in the nation are from Georgia and both are committed to Bama. Richt is working hard to flip them, but if he doesn’t, UGA will have become a second tier program in their own state.

IMHO , I like Gurley and Marshall over the in state backs Bama signed, Theus better than Greene, Richt signed the kicker he wanted from Fla, Atkins and Taylor over Dakota Ball, Richt signed the TE he wanted from Georgia didn’t offer the kid bama signed,(TE isn’t a huge need for this class) really the only Kids bamas signed that Georgia really wanted are Lee and Green.UGA offered Drake but Marshall and Gurley are more highly regarded. The only Rome thats burning will be Jay Rome burning up SEC secondaries next year. (Rome, Mitchelll, Crowell,Drew all players Bama wanted)

Got to get back in the final top 10 ranking a few times in a row, before recruiting really picks up like it has for Saban. He’s been consistently good. He’s earned it.
Boise and South Carolina have done well without a top 10 recruiting class, and Boise & Johnson at Tech focuses on execution instead of complexity.
If you run a simple scheme like Boise ot Tech, and out-execute everybody else, you don’t need 4 or 5 stars.

Thank you uga fans! If you guys didn’t have such a laid back attitude (can’t sign them all, etc) and actually hired a coach that could recruit worth a flip, we might be in trouble. Let’s see – 4 of your top 12 players this year. Then for 2013 Reuben Foster and R. Nkemdiche is reportedly about to commit as well. That would only be the top 2 in Georgia and maybe the #1 recruit in the country, but it’s no big deal. You can’t get them all, right? Richt is a fine man, etc, etc, etc. Can’t wait until he gets that extension and Bradley can write another long puff piece about how uga is better off locking him in for 5-6 more years. You can’t keep up with Bama unless you want to oversign or somehow manage to get 27 commits even though they are capped at 25 LOL
I like what ESPN is doing with their ranking. If you look at Rivals and Scout, number of recruits does matter. The only way a team with only 16 commits will rise in the rankings is if it was like USC under Carrol and nearly half of those are 5 stars with the rest being 4 stars.
UGA has had a solid recruiting class this year. If they close with a couple more good signings, it will be great. Hopefully the new OL and the new RBs can get the running game going, cause you know Bobo will be running up the gut LOL

Mark,
Best article on recruiting I’ve read this year. Nice job.
Mark Cuban used to search in other countries for top talent. PJ at Tech is doing the same now. Smart.
I have wondered how rivals, scout, and espn could vary in the way they ranked recruting classes, one says #6, one says #21. Hard to imagine UGA as a non top 10 class this year. I don’t take Scout and Rivals evaluation of UGA at not even top 20 seriously. They’re losing cred there. Theus, Marshall, and Gurley alone are prizes. Add in a top ranked kicker and punter. Theus and Marshall are both considered a top 10 player in the nation. We got 2 of them.
Last year’s team was called the dream team, it finished #12 on ESPN. This team is currently #6. That’s pretty amazing, better than last year?
Scout ranking by position:
Marshall, #1 rb, 5 stars
theus #2 OT, 5 stars
Hicks, #3 Fullback
Jenkins, #5 DE, 5 stars
mORGAN, #7 KICKER
Taylor, #9 dt
Gurley, #13 RB, 4 stars
fLOYD, 4 STAR de
That’s a terrific class right now.

The players UGA has signed are indeed very good players. My concern is they haven’t signed enough and that they are gonna miss out on their #1 position of need…OL. Sign Young and/or Greene and I’m happy. You gotta remember, UGA isn’t competing against the rest of the nation. Despite the misleading rankings, I think Tech has done a good job of filling in most of it’s needs. Now if we can somehow win the Tomlinson sweepstakes, this suddenly becomes a VERY solid class. Probably the best at Tech in many years!!! We also need to land a good place kicker (I heard we offered the #1 kicker in Georgia yesterday, but haven’t heard if he has decided yet). We lost a DB to Miami yesterday, but that’s not a real concern since the ones we have were all VERY young last year and several still had a good year despite that — plus we actually have some depth on that part of the roster. In place of him though, we got a commitment from a VERY good, BIG receiver, who somehow stayed under the radar of most other schools, but is a perfect fit for our offense which involves a lot of receivers blocking.
The D-Line is where we are hurting the most . But those needs are being addressed and we have some SERIOUS talent on that side of the ball that red-shirted last year, so I think we will have a solid defense to compliment the already potent offense by 2013, if not this season. Add a QB who can actually pass (which we have, but most of you haven’t seen play yet), and a decent placekicker (which we are currently working on), and suddenly Tech is a formidable adversary for virtually any opponent!!!! Naysayers can say what they will, but CPJ is doing a very nice job of filling our needs.
UGA, as usual, has an absolutely top-notch class and I expect a few last-minute surprises from Athens. The primary concern I see for the Dawgs is on the O-Line. I think Theus is highly over-rated and won’t pan out very well for ya’ll (I never understood why he is so highly ranked. Must be going on potential rather than current performance). However, it appears that you may be on the verge of signing a couple of real stud interior linemen, which would suddenly transform this into yet another top-10 class by most rankings. But, as other posters have stated, we (GT and UGA) have GOT to find a way to keep more of our in-state talent!!! We lose way too many fine recruits to out-of-state schools that are no better than either of our programs. I understand UGA can only sign so many players, and Tech looks for specific types of players instead of just looking at stars (rankings), but there are way too many that would be wonderful fits in either program that leave. We’ve got to find a cure for that (The best cure would be winning championships, I realize — but the teams getting many of these kids aren’t winning them either).

Alabama football team leads SEC in Academic Honor Roll placements
per SECSPORTS.COM
That is like the tallest midget. Why not put all the Bama Honor Roll students and post WHAT classes they were taking to make the Honor Roll. I would bet there 10th graders at GAC, Lovett, & Westminster could make the Honor Roll taking the same classes IMO.
You just showed how ignorant you are. Any kid at any school playing Division 1 sports who makes the Academic Honor Roll deserves a pat on the back and the recognition that comes with it. The total lack of understanding on your part demonstrates the lack of education in your family tree.
As a college graduate myself, who played sports, worked my way through graduate school, I appreciate the efforts of ANY student at Any school who leaves with a degree in his hand which will ease the burden on us as a nation with better educated youth.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Alabama placed 56 student-athletes on the 2011 Fall Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the second highest total in the conference, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced Wednesday.
The Crimson Tide’s total included a league-best 38 football players. Overall, South Carolina led the way with 66 honorees followed by Alabama and then Georgia with 51.
The 38 members of Alabama’s 2011 National Championship football team that earned a place on the honor roll was eight more than the next closest school and included a dozen starters. Among those earning the academic accolade were Trent Richardson, Mark Barron, Barrett Jones, Marquis Maze, Jeremy Shelley, Brad Smelley and Jesse Williams.
The Alabama soccer team placed 14 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll, including eight starters from the squad that advanced to the NCAA Championships last November, including senior All-SEC goalkeeper Justine Bernier. The Tide volleyball team had four players earn a place on the team, including All-SEC junior Kayla Fitterer.
To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.0 or better grade point average for either the preceding academic year or their career and be a sophomore or better in academic standing. The Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on the 2011 spring, summer and fall terms. Any student-athlete who participates in an SEC championship sport or a student-athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution’s NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll.

He is a three-time first-team All-District IV selection and a two-time Capital One Academic All-American, earning first-team honors in 2010. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in accounting. He was a member of the 2009 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll and the 2010 and 2011 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

When the Dawgs play the Gators or the Vols, I’m barking!!! There is an absolute hypocricy going on right now about this over-signing junk. We dress 85 players, same as the rest of you. Agree with your post, but think a lot of folks are guilty of overlooking the obvious. That is the state of secondary and even elementary public school education in Georgia. We all know about what the Gnats require to get admitted and El Presidente Adams has set the admission bar at UGA much higher than it has been in the past.
The result being that neither Tech nor UGA can offer many of state’s finest prospects year in and year out. Many schools in surrounding states do not seem to hold to the same requirements.
One can- dare I say it- even see examples of this ‘education’, or lack thereof, on some of the AJC’s blogs from time to time… not often, mind you, but every now and again.

@ marseilles mutt – regarding your post about keeping kids in state and “El Presidente Adams” setting the bar much higher, the most popular major for the football team has a 2.0 GPA entrance requirement. I don’t think South Carolina or Alabama can accept any lower than that. Adams may still be pursuing the University of Virginia model, but evidently not in all areas.

Saban rules, The state of Georgia produces many 4 star athletes , far more Georgia could sign on a yearly basis, . Rivals has 25 4 and 5 star recruits from georgia, Bama is signing 4 of them, Of course Georgia would like to sign them all, but can’t happen. its no big coup , some kids want to leave the state, some grew up and have family in Alabama. Richts doing just fine , he 3-1 vs bama and has on 1 more SEC championship than bama since he arrived in Athens.Bamas had a nice run the past few years , congratulations , why don’t you act like you been there before? its been many years ncaa probation, vacated games and bowl bans for bamas return to relevance.

Got to love people who want to go back to Saban’s first year at Alabama to make a point….we can proudly say that we did not lose to a UCF team in the Liberty Bowl and the same team that beat UGA in the Outback bowl was pounded one year earlier in the Captiol One bowl by Alabama, and this was UGA’s best team in over 5 years.

All that stuff but the truth is GT is not doing a good job recruiting in a State that is full of prospects. Everyone is picking them off. The fix is easy, arrogant CPJ needs to release that policy where recruits can’t visit other schools, he needs to get a passing game and hire some high energy recruiter’s who are the opposite of his down-home honest style.

too legit, CPJ knows that he has to try his best to intimidate kids from visiting other programs because once they get to a real college town with better facilities, they’ll drop tech like a bad habit. I mean, would you rather be in Miami, Athens, Tuscaloosa, Tallahassee……..or downtown Atlanta for your college years? Playing in a stadium rocking with 90,000+ raving fans or the tech stadium that is often likened to a high school? That’s why he does the silly s@#$ that he does and it turns them off quick and they get the 57th best class in the country. Period.

Here’s where all you Bamas are failing to see (at least when I read these blog entries). Recruiting is not what makes Bama a great team. IT’S COACHING THAT MAKES THEM A GREAT TEAM! Julio Jones is the only very productive player that was a 5-star recruit! Dawg fans may seem like “oh well you can’t get them all.” I’m one of those Dawg fans that feel that way! Truthfully, I don’t care whether or not they get anymore blue chip recruits. Get to 25 with the last nine being 3-star recruits. I don;t want more blue chip recruits! Recruiting don’t win big games! Good coaching wins big games! Good coaching next season will result in a one regular season loss at the very most (in Columbia) and a solid New Year’s bowl victory! Anything less and well, we might need Saban!

Anyone who would even consider Nick Saban for their college head coach is of little or no integrity. The man is a cheating P.O.S. and everyone in the nation and beyond knows this (even a whole lot of idiot Bama people know this too, but rings at any cost are what is important in T-Town), ESPN’s college football pundit ratings falling because no one except the tobacco juice dribbling Tide fans care to hear about how the University of Alabama has the greatest, blah, blah, blah. ESPN will not take Saban’s …out their mouth long enough to even take a breath. Alabama WILL get caught by NCAA again, and when this occurs they will be holding tractor pulls in Bryant-Denney.
Mean while this season will be no different than 2010 when Bama lost three games. Saban will leave ahead of the next sanctions, so Bama is pretty much done. If any of you toothless wonders think for a minute that Saban cares one bit about leaving your little dust bowl as one of the heaviest penalized programs in history, you are even more stupid than I thought, and I’m not sure that is even possible.
If you were going to give the United States an enema, you would have to go in through Alabama. I have never been to Arkansas, so can not compare, but Alabama is almost third world, so football is all they have, until they take that away.

Recruiting is not as important as people think. How high was last years recruiting class. How High Was Boise States? Who won the first game last year? Does Chris Peterson get all the 5 star recruits? How was Kellen Moore ranked? Think many teams had wished they had gone after him?

The SEC fans should get down on their knees and thank ESPN for that big TV contract and all that free advertisng you give us throughout the year with special TV programing that just seems to come out of nowhere. It’s just like no other conference has ever played football and has no history but the SEC. Of course ESPN is protecting it’s investment with the SEC. The NCAA just doesn’t make the connection but that is no surprise is it.

There is no one here defending the NCAA, that’s for sure. The NCAA knew full well that Cameron Newton was not eligible under the current 2010 rules, they just were not going to enforce it. The slime ball Slive made sure of it. So yeah, I would say that the NCAA is corrupt. As a Dawg, I can not stand Urban Meyer, but he is not a cheat. Nick Saban and Pete Carroll are, period. Meyer made his complaints known about the lack of control that the NCAA and SEC were willing to exibit, and along with other reasons decided to exit UF. I hate to say it, but you will have to add Spurrier to the list after NCAA pounds him later next month. UGA will win a championship under Coach Richt, and other than a couple of STUPID NCAA secondary violations, will have won it fair and square.
Funny, true story regarding Jordan Jenkins, good friend’s daughter had assigned parking spot next to Jenkins at Harris County High. All this school year at least once a week told Jenkins,”Tuscaloosa is a dump, you need to go to UGA”! Looks like Jenkins agreed!

It amazes me that a college that bases itself on providing educated leaders for the next generation can be so lacking in their feel for a recruit’s character as we see in Georgia. The smell is generally there before recruiting, seldom reported by the press depending heavily on the copy handed them by the school. Football and its writing should be light, it is entertainment, not rocket science, but every year the fog of battle distorts the real value of these players, many uncoachable even if Georgia was top heavy with great coaches which they are not. I think the difference between an Alabama or LSU and now Arkansas and South Carolina is they actually go watch the player in high school and see with their own eyes what he has or doesn’t have. Other SEC coaches let Georgia use up its bullets on a Crowell while they have a Honey Badger salted away off the radar. Football since the time of Bobby Dodd and Vince Dooley, Erk Russell is a game for clever men, poker players, that eat and breath the fun culture of trickery. The lonesome end or fumbleroskey, blood trickling down the face of a bald man, if you ever watch a practice with these guys it was a father playing with his pups. That is missing in Georgia, God knows Richt has tried to instill it, with uniforms or swimming parties but the charisma is just not there. Smart has got it, Miles is eaten up with it,not sure yet about Muschamp but Dooley was a little nerdy when he started and I think Irk got him back to being a fun guy, or maybe being married to Barbara helped. Bobby Dodd was the best, watching him play checkers at Bitsy Grant Tennis Center every day trash talking his opponent was about as entertaining as it gets. These guys would have done it for free and look at the character of their players, ad they became men and lived great lives, food for thought.

A top ten class is a top ten class, I really don’t think there is much difference in 1 or 10. Key is what you do with the ones you get. Look at Miami they are in top 10 only because of numbers of players.
Also Texas normally beats Bama and LSU in recruiting and they have not been all that the last 2 years
Then there is big group where the 20th rated class is not that much different then the 50th rated class. In there is all about team needs
I agree, UGA got a nice class,
Jonathan Taylor and John Atkins at DT – unreal
Marshall and Gurley at RB – unreal
Faton Bauta at QB – he’s sleeper of the class
John Theus a little overrated but Blake Tibbs very underrated
If I had my pick at GT, I would take UGA’s class over Bama’s
GT has very nice class committed, he’s correct about Travin Henry, dude stood out at Dawg Night, was one of the best players on the field and UGA said they were going to offer him but didn’t, only reason was he did not have national name and it may hurt their recuiting ranking.
From what I’ve seen Travin is Bigger, Taller, faster, hits harder then Josh Harvey-Clemons who is 5 star. I don’t get it.

CPJ and VT get it done by playing in the ACC. We have to contend with a regular season or Dome meeting with LSU or Alabama. Alabam was stacked last year and stands to grab 10 to 15 of the top 100 players in the nation before signing day ends. I do not know how any team will be able to battle that level of depth in the next three years. They will have guys on the bench better than most of the players on the teams they are competing against. The fact is Saban, as much as I hate him and his tactics, is stacking his team beyond anything any other conference can develop. The biggest advantage most schools will have is that they will not have to play Bama unless they get a title shot. USC and Stanford and Ok State can brag about how good they are but the numbers are clear, they will not have the talent that Bama will put on the field. Even LSU is going to struggle to keep up. I hope my dawgs get to the dome, but I seriously doubt anyone is going to touch the monster Bama is building.

I’m a lifelong Dawg fan who’s son choose to go to Bama. I have learned alot about the Bama football program over the last three years. It cracks me up reading this blog with all the back and forth between Dawg and Tide fans. Thruth is, both teams are great at recruiting solid prospects. The biggest differance I see is in the coaching styles between the two schools. Sabans players are afraid of him and Marks players sing cumbaya with him. Sabans men refuse to fail and Marks men get a pat on the head when they fail. It’s obvious to me which style works best to achieve wins and losses. Both coaches do a great job at molding young men into men, but Saban gets results on the field where Mark fails. I still believe Mark can lead the Dawgs to a NC but he will need to grow as a coach before that will happen. Let’s hope it is sooner than later. Thats all I have to say about that…

No one can do it like the bear did it bc they have Bear Bryant rules in place. He was notoriuos for signing guys to rowing and swimming and then having them play football. Now a days if you are a 2 sport althete that includes football thats where your scholly counts, not the other.

arkansas upsets lsu and wins the west. UGA wins the east again going away. Ga v. Arkansas for the title—Ga wins by 10. Bet the house.

I’m sure Michael Carvell wrote something about the 17th recruit. I read it late last night.

There is nothing up. You know how he writes. He prob has it written just thinking of a title that skews the story to look bad for UGA. I mean the FSU commit article is a prime example. We gave up on him a long time ago but he had to make it about us to remind us we didnt get him. Anyone would be a better Recruiting writer than him.

Clint, your depth at Bama just took a big hit in case you have not looked lately. You must be one who listens to ESPN go on and on about Bama this and Bama that every day. What a dumba$$. If you think a bunch of first year players are going to come in and replace the NFL bound players of 2011 you are an idiot. Like I said, Bama loses three games just like 2010, and does not sniff an SEC West title, just like 2010, and 2011.

@True Dawg Fan,…. 9-3 this season, at best, and not winning the East with an absolutely pathetic schedule will put CMR squarely back on the hot seat. Oh, and do not sleep on Missouri. They are about to sign the #1 player in the nation, and will be laying in the weeds waiting for the defending SEC East champ to come into Columbia. They know that CMR is a horrible gameday coach who does not get anyway near the potential out of his all-star team.

@JMac we will beat the brakes off Mizzou, they played well against a weak NC team in the bowl, but that’s the ACC.And there is no way the no.1 player signs with them..deal with it.

I’m sick of some of our best players going out of state……look at the 4 star and 5 star kids we lost to Alabama……..don’t tell me the stars don’t matter………they do!
Why can’t we get them to UGA…….WHY?
Yea yea I know we can’t sign them all….but Alabama got our number one offensive lineman……number one defensive lineman ect…….

Viewing UGA games since 1959 with my GT M.E. Grandfather. UGA alumni do not lose sleep over the fact that AU, LSU and Florida and Alabama and UT have won the MNC in the last 15 years or so. We do not lose too much sleep and we still take lovely vacations.
We are MDs, lawyers, pharmacists, teachers, college profs, botanists, vintners, manufacturer’s reps, entreprenuers, marketers, CPAs and did I leave out research scientists? Folks, the MNC would be nice, but we are so busy, we move forward, if we do not win the SEC East or SEC CG. Now do you all get it?
